- The Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra isn’t the fastest-charging device out there - but how does its charging speed compare with the iPhone 15 Pro Max?
In my charging test, the phone is plugged into a charger that supports the device’s maximum charging speed. The screen is kept off to prevent the phone from using power or throttling while it’s charging, however if the device has an always-on function by default, it’s left on.

Remember that after the iPhone reaches 80% battery charge a trickle charge is as slow as the charge down. This is to extend the battery life smart you can disable it but I leave it on.

Phones shouldn't be charged to 100%. I use the battery protect setting, whenever I'll be staying home or close to home. For work days I'll charge 97-99%

Samsung needs PPS (Programmable Power Supply) protocol. It's just an official option of PD 3.0. Any modern good charger can do this.

I think the iphone started to slow down the charging speed after 95 percentage is because of trickle charging. It helps the chance of avoiding the loss of the battery health on the phone. While on the samsung, if we turn on the battery saver mode on, the same will happen. But only it does is maybe it stops the charging at 80% or above near to it.

Well to be fair, the slower the phone charges the better for the battery. Like this the battery capacity will stay high for a longer period of time

I used to be a huge phone tech nerd, i stopped and went to buy a new phone and saw the s24 ultra and got it and thought it was an older model, turns out it wasn't lol
There is a lot to consider here. Internally we do not know what settings are in place, which can affect the test. Then the Samsung phone has notifications off, but iPhone has it on, which makes charging slower for iPhone. And finally, the cord's speed can also affect it. Best to do multiple runs with certain stuff on or off.

It's all about heat output from charging.. it's not that the Iphone charges slower.. but the last 15% are to prevent heat buildup and prolonge battery integrity.
For me, iPhone is better. But I think that they are the same. I think that the iPhone have better camera.😊

The only time that matters is between 20-30% up to 80% I never charge my phone above 80% and I usually don't let it go below 30% but occasionally it goes down to 20% if I don't have a charger. I just stop using my phone almost completely, when it's close to 30%

The Samsung isn't using a 45W charger in this. When you use a 45W charger, the charging ring is blue. It's probably only using 25W in this.
