    Still, a stunning hoard and just awe inspiring. Again., this hoard truly demonstrates the craftsmanship and the rich culture that the Anglo Saxons had.

    I'm glad it was shared for us all to see . Insted of someone selling it just for the gold value .

    The finder and farmer earned $4.2 million U.S. for it!

    Imagine all the people who passed it on the road... Whatever the case it is a treat to see such links to our own past. Gold is one of the few things that can survive.. Wonder what else may have been there and who was the person who put it there?

    Why would the artifacts be mangled prior to burial??

    • @TyrSkyFatherOfTheGods
      @TyrSkyFatherOfTheGods Рік тому +1

      They were interested in the value of the gold, not the objects themselves. So they compacted it for easy transportation and burial.

    I'm no historian, far from it, I really don't like this term The Dark Ages. Why? I don't think it could have been darker than some periods of European history over recent centuries.

    I bet it was buried by Vikings. Desecrated crosses and bishop's head pieces.

    • @mpb6491

      It could be that. But things get bent out of shape when buried for over a 1000 years. It was 400 years before the Viking raids on England. They went raiding at this time of course. But not England. They weren't even Vikings at that point either.
      Could be one of two things. Either carbon dating is wrong. Or all the items were somehow made 400 years prior. But it is interesting and odd to have Norse and germanic influences in some of the art. And for the person to be buried in a longship. It's like it's some viking time traveller with great taste. (When you see the helmet and its recreaction)
      I wonder where the body went. I always wonder that.

    I get the impression of an extremely greedy man who had no appreciation of the artistry and violently condensed its volume as much as possible, was fleeing with it, but at some point buried it as pursuit was closing in.

    Is the narration done by a bot, or just so badly read that it sounds like it? I honestly can't tell. In any case, what with the stilted script and the moronic background music, I just couldn't get to the end of this. The images and the comments of the experts are great. Why would you take such good ingredients and come up with this unlistenable stuff?

  • @OriginalMudSlinger

    it is so plain to see . it is a kings burial or the likes maybe only teeth remain in a large aria of staffs but from the finds I think hundreds of single deposits of gold items were left to show what a great man and legend he was and how much he meant in his rule and NOT FROM A tea leaf

    • @Fangs4DaMemories
      @Fangs4DaMemories 4 роки тому +3

      It is not a kings burial. These items were discovered in broken and fragmented pieces. Many archaeologists believe that this booty came from a big battle nearby and was being taken back to Mercian workshops to repair and place back onto swords, etc. Look up Time Team Staffordshire Hoard here on UA-cam... It's very interesting.

      Adam, not quite as it is likely a lot of the hoard originated from the Angles of East Anglia as similar items were found at Sutton Hoo part of East Anglia. So the Angles were never ever nothing but something which we will forever treasure. They were likely to have been won in battle by Penda of Mercia a pagan.

    This is NOT English as they have turned thier back on God.
    away in the north with the words "Keep this safe it shows who We are as a People"
    This is the Lost Tribes of Israel.
    Know who You are.
