HI they are a great kit! I have fitted a couple now both with the same results. They come with clear instructions and even give you a link to a website explaining the best way to run in the engine after fitting. Certainly works well with a pumper carb and webcams 190 cam-if the budget stretches far enough the big valve head! Do this and you will have a fast and reliable 650.
Nice highway pegs... I only make two critiques... Use a piston ring compressor instead of a screwdriver, and use a valve cover gasket instead of grey rtv silicone on the valve cover. Other than that. Great job. It ran on the first attempt. 👍
Did you work at the Cairns hospital? I lived in Cairns 2020 and 2021 (now Perth) and would regularly ride by a bike very similar to this at hospital parked out on the Esplanade bike spaces?
What surprises me is one takes care in dismissing the upper engine...and great care on the bench...but you never bothered to clean the engine are before dismantling...and sorry putting the rings in with screw driver...no...proper ring crisp.. and what about a good test drive...what was your conclusion...good?? Or was it just a big bore and on I love the idea but was it really worth it... let us know
I bought my DR new in 2013 and did everything to my engine that he mentions her plus some.. was it worth all the money probably not but that extra 20 or so HP turned that dog of a DR 650 into a fun bike to beat on
Great stuff mate. Have you used high compression piston, what are the valves diameters and carb specs? I'm asking as I want to go for a big bore kit on mine 650 as well... And have you used racing camshaft as well? Kind regards ;)
So no requirement to give the bottom end any attention given the CC increase? Any feedback back from anybody on the longevity of the motor with the big bore kit and big valve head etc under normal riding conditions (definition of normal being anything other than racing, like trail riding, adventure riding, work commuter) Tx
Hi there..nice video..i have the xf freewind same engine but mine have double carbs 32mm..im saving for all this kit but in carb section im not sure..any tips? thanks
I have questions. Was this a success? Is there significant increase in power and torque? Do you know how much? Is the reliability affected, I'm assuming the compression is higher too? And is there any issues with heat? Would you have any issues taking this build across the centre?
Hi ,no issues with heat or reliability. In hindsight I don’t believe the cam was necessary as it added more maintenance with valence clearance issues - I would have no hesitation in riding that bike anywhere .
@@linc341 I'm sure this is a throw away question. But what drop in HP/torque would you expect with the same build, and a standard cam? If I did a build like this id seriously consider the Wide ratio transmission too.
@@linc341 I allowed my nephew to ride my dr790 for the last 30 minutes of a 4 hr track day (flat blacktop racetrack). I rode the bike hard as I always do, racing it around. My nephew on the other hand loves riding long wheelies. Long story short my nephew blew my 790 big bore up, come to find out. The piston was cracked snd all the oversized valves were bent . This happened 2 days after a full bike tune up and valve adjustment at joes cycle in mechanicville ny.. other mods big valve head, 5 angle race port, pumper carb , 190 grit cam, full FMF header/exhaust. I’m on my 2 nd 790 kit and over sized valves and head port job
Very cool video. I wish there was a follow-up video to this. I'd love to see how the kit worked out after installation/break-in. 👍
Every time a 4 stroke starts after a rebuild an angel get her wings
This guy is a really good mechanic!
Knew that when he put that piston into the bore old school without a rung compressor
great video, please make a review vid with pros/cons, is it worth it, reliability etc. earned my sub for sure. thank you
chris E Thanks Mate!
Appreciate the feedback👍
Great video. Now i now how to work on my bike , Thanks
Yep great stuff, id love to do the same, please post a ride review
Thank you !fast mecanic!!!( belgium DR650)
Incredible video! I would love to see complete video in real time. I'd watch it beginning to end.
Thanks Mate👌
Sometimes I feel like I'm the only American that owns one of these, all the best dr650 channels are from Australia ... love the mice music
fatgrabber thanks Mate🍺🏍👌
I make 2 lol
If you change the player speed to 0.25 slower it will almost be as normal..
Thanks for the upload :-)
Can't beat a single for ease of refurb.
Awesome! Thanks for sharing.
Review? Thoughts on the kit mate? WA here

Mikuni hsr42 goodie too for the big bore
Well done, great video 🏍🇦🇺👍🏻
Thanks mate 👌
Must be hard to work with the grand prix going on outside!
I’m in the flight path😉☝️✈️
Any update with this build? You ever get any dyno Numbers?
What kind of power does the 790 + head + cam make?
I have everything stated here plus some and my DR 790 puts out about 56hp 54tq .. my Instagram has photos of dyno read out IG is Beastmoto _NY
Horsepower gains and drop in gas mileage? Asking for a friend
Yep and yep 😂

Hi Louie, thanks for watching!
They don’t have a gasket on the valve cover it is actually sealed with rtv from the factory 👌
Did you work at the Cairns hospital? I lived in Cairns 2020 and 2021 (now Perth) and would regularly ride by a bike very similar to this at hospital parked out on the Esplanade bike spaces?
No , this is a customers bike 👌
What kind of manifold is that? It looks like stock but has a weld line in the bend and looks thicker.
What..... no test drive!!!??? NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!
Is the 790 still going strong and what has the MPG gone to?
Looks pretty difficult getting the cylinder in...
did you use stock valve clearance or followed web cam instruction? Seems those are a bit different.
Very nice video what about the consumption with this kit
Thanks,
If just putting the bike bore kit fuel consumption does not change much - but when you start putting bigger carb, cam etc it starts drinking it
How much is the price of the spark plug, please?
i'm thinking hod did you mamage with smaller ID of crankcase? Did you rebore it to fit bigger OD of 790 cylinder? Anyway good job!

Hi sorry for late reply!
All parts are available on the pro cycles website- its the web cams cam shaft
And carb is a kehein for mx

I dig it!
What kit is it??? Where I can buy it???
Nice one, how many hours labour did it take to do the deed ?
Good question!
I can’t remember now- maybe 6 hrs?
How much do you charge to do this installs?
$80p/h
Hi there..nice video..i have the xf freewind same engine but mine have double carbs 32mm..im saving for all this kit but in carb section im not sure..any tips? thanks
Hi Layne Thanks,
The kit will work with your standard carbs just fine- just adjust the jetting to suit( do you have access to a dyno?))
@@linc341 i was hoping for that..im looking for a dyno.. actually next week ill check one
Very nice, what bottle did you use for the oil refill? That's super convenient
Hi , thanks Ltd just a condiments bottle from the local supermarket- it has 100 ml increments on it also making it ideal for fork oil jobs👌
Hello ,do you put anti-seize paste on all gaskets ?
No Mate it’s aviation gasket sealant.
@@linc341 thank you, I heard some people use it , makes easy to take gasket off next time in one piece .

@@linc341 thank you bro. Are you guys in QLD?
Any engine vibration increase ?
No noticeable vibration increase👍
hello greetings from houston I have a question. if the timing chain of a dr650 breaks. the valves bend?
If it has a standard piston-more than likely it will bend a valve, yes Mate.
Ok thanks

If it's enough horsepower for a VW it's enough for a motorcycle.
Im jealous
Too bad the video is partly blurred
Do not watch it high
