I have a forest full of this. I just discovered it after more than a decade of living here. It's a warm April and it just started blooming so I had to bring a few branches and Google it. Sure enough I have plenty of this. I'm going to dig some up, pot it and see if I can get some small ones growing in the greenhouse then transplant in the front of my house. I'm so excited 😊.

I finally located this plant in a nursery near me. My grandmother had a large plant that I loved the scent. It seems I have to plant it in September and under the oak tree in the back of my yard.

I Have this and absolutely love the scent (cinnamon to me) but it has been growing under and being smothered by a pine tree so it's reaching way out and very misshapen. I am cutting away the pine but will I be able to cut the thicker(1-2+ inches) branches now? I mean after flowering. Or am I better off doing the seed route? which I'm going to try anyway! Also my house skews North West with trees in front so my foundation plants have gone very sparse ao out they come this year. Because of their will under the pine out back I'm thinking of putting them in place of the sad sack foundation plants. Int letting them intertwine with everbloom hydrangeas. That should make the wildness of my front yard look pretty cool and smell lovely. 🤞

So pleased to learn this shrub is a fast grower. Which zone are you in? I just bought a 3-gallon one and will plant it when the weather gets cooler. What is an ideal site for sweet shrub? Thank you

We're in zone 5! Sweet shrubs are good in partial to full sun.
