Single dad who lost 230 lbs. stunned opening gifts from a Secret Santa

The EastIdahoNews.com team is busy helping a local Secret Santa give $1 million to deserving people in eastern Idaho this holiday season. Every day, from now until Christmas, we will post videos of the recipients being surprised with these life-changing gifts.
Ruben has always had a full plate with work, raising his daughter and helping his parents with grocery shopping, meals and medicine.
He had a lot of health issues with his knees and back so last year he decided to go on a weight loss journey. He weighed around 440 lbs. but now weighs 210 lbs. He is just 10 lbs. from his original goal and is an inspiration to many of what is possible if you put in the work.
With that much weight loss, he had to donate all of his old clothes because they were too big. He needs some new clothes and could also use a gym membership. He has been walking outside most of the year but with winter coming, that will be hard.
Secret Santa asked the East Idaho News elves to pay Ruben a visit and drop off some early Christmas gifts. Watch the surprise in the video player above!

Wow, so glad he stepped up to the plate and decided to take care of his own health so he could be around to enjoy his daughter's life for, hopefully, a very long time!!

She is an example to us all - she could have ask for stuff for herself but instead gave back to her Dad - she was raised right and is going to do AWESOME things in this world 🌟

Way to go DUDE! When I left Canada I weighed in at 185 kilos, (410 pounds), and I went down to 74 kilos, (163 pounds). I was a size 5X and a 48-inch waist, down to a size L and a 32-inch waist. I was feeling great and then the pandemic hit and so did the weight. Your story has inspired me to get back on track. My goal is to lose the 20 kilos I gained during my isolation during the pandemic. I think that's awesome. I'm working on my own self improvement, and have been learning about how it's easier to build good habits by making small changes at a time. Everyone is different though, so do what works for you. You've got this!

Loved it! I remember when I lost a lot of weight my size would change every two weeks it seemed. I never knew how to handle it. Then I had to trust myself to buy more permanent things. I see this guy needed the “push” right now to get him through. So very proud of him!
