It turned out I could communicate with the native speakers on an excellent level on verious topics. It was my first meeting with the English native speakers face to face. Watching and analysing videos on your channel brought excellent effect.
Lovely video! Now we can understand that this type of accent is called cockney👍 I’ll look for Michael Caine’s interviews 😉 Thank you my lady Kathy 😊 Have a wonderful weekend ☺️
Hello, Katharine.😊 Now I think I have to use my loaf in order to understand Cockney Accent. To me, Cockney Accent sounds pretty warm and friendly. Plus, Cockney Rhyming Slang sounds so creative and unique. You're crushing it!👏Thanks a lot❗🤗
Thank you so much Kathie!❤ This video is captivating, I would like to see more videos about British accents🥰 such as Brummie, Geordie, Yorkshire... and especially the Scottish accent! Have a lovely weekend!🌹😇
Very funny & interesting british accent. Same as but different accent were used by britishers in british India during british rule. They were used mixed Indian & English language. For a "Table servant" they used a word "khidmudgaar". During 1857 to 1947, India is a second home for britishers. You can read about this in the book "Women of the Raj" by Margaret Macmillan.
I am an Arab..and now I am learning the English language..I have learned the American accent and the British accent..If I were British, I would be proud of my accent..because it is the language of eloquence, statement, poetry, and literature.
With all due deference there are over 400 British accents and 200 American. One can learn to mimic an accent but that learned inflection will never be perfect in its rendering.
Apples and pears is pretty straight forward. To use the term apples and pears means stairs. So if you are telling someone, "I'm not going to use the lift and going to use the apples and pears instead," it means you're going to use the stairs.
' The Modern RP ' is the most important. That is what the England is known for! I'm not sure whether the Cockney or other varieties of accents of English will get the kind of attention and recognition the Modern RP gets! 🤔 For the convenience of the most of the people in the world, there has to be a standard language which can be used as global lingua franca! No wonder the English language enjoys that status! 😊
Dear Katharine, I note in the ‘little’, not only ‘t’ is glottal, but the ‘L’ is very heavy dark. Is the dark ‘L’ a distinctive part of the cockney way of speaking?
Thank you so much Katharine for this video ! Could you make one about the irish accent ? I am in Ireland now and I really struggle to understand people, but I really want to. Lots of love ❤

Hello, Katharine, thank you for this video. As a foreign learner of English, I have been trying to to get used to Modern RP. It is by far the easiest accent to practise. I think I can stick to it whenever I have to speak in English. As far as I know, there are many accents in England. It is said that Yorkshire accent is also difficult to learn. Why not make a video about it? In the novel Wuthering Heights, I don't understand most of what Joseph says.
