I agree with your review score and thoughts 9.5/10 is what I would give the game too! The game has a huge sense of discovery and mystery. People dislike it for being too cryptic or long sometimes but I actually enjoyed those aspects about the game. It also has one of the darker main storylines out of the main Dragon Quest games. That one big plot twist reveal moment was even a little scary. I keep coming back to this game I just really enjoy the general feel of it and it is really special. Fun fact it was originally being made as an N64 game but when they saw that the PS1 was the system for RPGs and how popular it was they moved development over to PS1. If you ever feel like replaying the game again at a later date I recommending checking out the 3DS version for fun since it does have some new content for fans. I look forward to you playing Dragon Quest 8 on PS2 next!

The big twist you are referring to, is it when you find out that the Demon Lord is disguised as God? And that God truly died all those years ago? I thought it was really interesting the way some of the npc’s were suggesting that you are the new God.

@@thevideogamecabinet3681 Yeah that is the big twist I was referring to. Technically you could also say the game has an earlier twist when you find out God lost that fight, Orgodemir is revealed and you learn about why the islands were disappearing. That was kind of a shocking reveal the first time for a lot of players.

@@NinjaxShadowXx yes, I am glad it was a surprise. The way this game starts off on a lone island and the world is just ocean and you don’t know why…it’s so well done. It pulled me in and never let go. Even when I was getting sidetracked with sidequests and the main narrative slowed down, I still wanted to learn more about why the world became the way it was.
Soon I will start DQ8, but I need to play some shorter games first! No long ones!
