After your boots are clean and dry, it's time to condition them. Conditioning is great for waterproofing boots, adding life to the leather, and general appearance. When you condition your Nicks, you can add years of wear to their lifespan. With the oils and waxes added to the leather, you can be sure your boots will hold up. As an alternative, I use wax without color on the heel stack and sole edges when the black has faded. Also, the black uppers become dark brown after extensive use and I use a neutral leather conditioner to preserve the "worn" color. It's a super cool look and gives the boots a lot of character.

Understand that if you order customs you're looking at 16-20 weeks when I ordered mine a good two months ago. The try on boots where pretty cool, not the same model or size but they were nice. When I called to talk to the people, the gentleman I talked to was very polite and tried to work me through everything. Timing was not considered and I think it's 16 to 20 weeks from that phone call is when I'm supposed to get my boots. But who knows. Being an oil worker I can't wait to have boots the last me more than a year or two.

I wish they'd make a care video about rough out leather. It's all well and good to say that it's the same but knowing how it changes the look is pretty important
I like to make sure everything is warmed up before I start to condition my boots. I stick my boots in front of a space heater and put my can of Huberd's Shoe Grease in a pot of water on the stove. Between those two things, my boots drink the conditioner in much faster and in greater quantity. Unless I go completely overboard as well, the don't feel greasy or oily afterwards, either.
I love these videos and have a request. I haven’t seen any videos about the wedge worker boot. Can you do a video comparing the wedge worker to the builder pro with the honey sole? I’m a commercial plumber and trying to decide between the 2 boots.
Nathan do you have a video that talks about when a resole is needed and when a rebuild is needed? Is the decision generally based on a time of use and/or age , visual wear condition or a feeling of break down in the boot?

Looking at the toe boxes it looks like these could really benefit from some shoe trees. They help push out the toebox creases during cleaning/treating which is hugely beneficial as these are almost always the first failure points in your boot leather

I would condition first with Nicks Leather Oil and follow up with a light coat of Nicks LP. Heat the treated boots with a hairdryer and rub it in thoroughly with your hand while still warm. By the way, use could use edge dressing instead of paste polish. Great video !

My boots are roughout lowers and smooth uppers. Anything different I need to do on the roughout part? I have Builder Pro in Walnut.

Hi, I have a question about silicone in shoe waxes or oils. I have noticed that now Red Wing Shoe Mink Oil has silicone as well as lanolin. Is there a problem silicone will harm stitching threads? Your advise is much appreciated
The only problem that I have heard about with silicone is drying out the leather, although if mixed with lanolin, this would not be an issue. Silicone will not adversely affect stitching.

How do I fix my toe box without a rebuild? I hade some build a few years ago and they keep causing ingrown nails. I have since had my nail removed and don’t want to wait 6 months to get mine rebuilt.

It is not, but good for maintenance.

How should one care for rough out leathers
Same process. Rough out leathers lose their fuzzyness over time and become more smooth, so you shouldn't ldnt worry about that
Should I oil my heelstack?
I do if exposed to water/ snow, it gets dry pretty quick
Has anyone used Ballistol on these boots?
Ballistol is for guns, not leather.
Does the heavy grease prevent the leather from breathing as well as before, thereby causing your feet to get hotter and sweater?

Safir shoe cleaning products seem to be recommended by all the high-end shoe companies. I haven't used them, but they swear by them.

JFC. Put shoe trees in your boots. And stop being scared to use leather dye to restore color to your boots.
