One other thing of note is that this may not work on more basic versions of Pros. It sounds like the tow technology package may be required for this to work. Please refer to the f150 lightning forum thread in the description for more information. ....UPDATE: Looks like a few guys got it working on their base pros. This install should work for all pro owners.
Very cool! One of the main reasons for me looking into the XLT and above were the light bars (both front and back). Knowing it's possible to install them at home may just shift my focus.
Thanks for this excellent how-to vid. Every time I look at my Pro front grille, it seems like something is missing. I'm eager to put a light bar on mine as soon as I find a good deal on a lightbar. BTW.... are you planning on doing the center console folding workspace mod on your truck some day? I'd like to install one of those too.
I was just looking at that again recently. The problem is it seems to be really expensive. It can be done but parts alone are over 1,000$ even for used pieces. If I can find a cheaper alternative I’ll jump on it.
Awesome. Thanks Man. I'm doing this to my AG Pro as well. I agree it looks great on the Avalanche or light colored trucks. I wouldn't do this if I had a dark colored truck.
Congrats on another successful Pro upgrade! I think my 2023 Pro SR is the best value in a truck - with any powertrain - in the world, and the ability to do some of the projects you have tackled just reinforces that belief. The one option that was available for my Pro that I stupidly did not get was the 9.6 kW Pro Power Onboard. I know you have it on yours, but I am wondering if you have ever given any thought to what would be involved in adding it after delivery. As I understand the difference between the 2.4 and the 9.6, it comes down to the bed outlets. In the 9.6, a 2.4 inverter (the same as in the base model?) feeds just the frunk and the cab; a separate 7.2 (or maybe two, 3.6) handle the bed panel. I can't help but wonder if someone had the inverter(s), wiring harness(es) and bed panel - and of course the FORScan code - if it would be possible to do the upgrade.
I’m sure it’s possible. The problem is the tailgate and tail lights are different. That’s going to be really expensive to retrofit. Probably over $3,000 just in parts. So I’d say the economics don’t make sense for such a small mod.
I was thinking about doing a replacement grill and painting the top fake light bar. I know I’d have to cut it off the top of the grill but would I be able to mount it on there by itself?
How tight are the clearance behind the grill? It seems like this introduces an unsealed seam across the whole grill for water to get behind and potentially get into the frunk.
The grill doesn’t actually do anything to keep water or dirt out of the frunk. It’s basically just a plastic cover. You could probably run without the grill and nothing would seep in.
@@KurtsRPMGarageinteresting, good to know. It looked like there was a ‘Ford’ badge sized hole directly behind that led directly into the frunk. I must have missed a piece that went in between.
Just got a pro last week. All black. Order the light bar today after seeing your video. Great BTW Where in Southern California are you located? Looks like Santa Clarita.

Man those firmware update failures would have scared me! Glad you figured it out, great video & instructions!
The true terror would have kicked in when I hit the start button and nothing would happen. Luckily that wasn’t the case.
Just got a 23 Pro extended range with almost identical options as you so excited to follow this and all the other mod videos.

Rear light bar is likely a bit more difficult. If I understand correctly you need an entirely different tailgate. That’s going to be pretty pricey.
