It boasts a vibrant fishing harbor, Portugal's largest fish market, a well-frequented urban park, and the Troia Peninsula ferry terminal. The enchanting historic center features a labyrinth of narrow alleys, secluded plazas, and traditional shops.
Mercado do Livramento
Renowned for its stalls offering consistently fresh fish, Mercado do Livramento earned recognition in 2015 from the American newspaper, USA Today, as one of the world's finest fish markets. In addition to a diverse selection of fish, the market also features vegetables, aromatic herbs, and regional products, including wine, honey, various types of bread, and local handicrafts.
Igreja do Convento de Jesus
Constructed in the late 15th century in the Gothic-Manueline style, a Portuguese variant of late Gothic prevalent during Manuel I's reign in the 16th century, this church was designed by architect Diogo Boitac in 1494. Maritime motifs are evident in the architecture, with intertwined colonnettes resembling twisted naval ropes. Next to the church is a former convent now converted into a museum, housing a collection of Portuguese and Flemish paintings from the 15th and 16th centuries.

Cu toate că este considerat un oraș industrial, Setubal menține o legătură puternică cu mediul maritim. Orașul se mândrește cu un port important pentru economia Portugaliei, cea mai mare piață de pește din Portugalia, un parc urban extrem de popular și terminalul de feriboturi Peninsula Troia. Centrul istoric reprezintă un labirint de străduțe înguste, piețe retrase și magazine tradiționale.

Cunoscută pentru tarabele sale cu pește mereu proaspăt, Mercado do Livramento Livramento a fost desemnată în 2015 de ziarul american USA Today ca una dintre cele mai bune piețe de pește din lume. Pe lângă o ofertă diversificată de pește, de aici pot fi achiziționate legume, plante aromatice și produse tradiționale regionale, inclusiv vin, miere, diverse tipuri de pâine și obiecte de artizanat locale.
Igreja do Convento de Jesus
Construită în secolul al XV-lea în stilul Gotic-Manuelin, o variantă portugheză a Goticului târziu, această biserică a fost proiectată de arhitectul Diogo Boitac în 1494. Motivele maritime sunt evidente în designul său, cu colonete împletite fiind asemănătoare cu niște frânghii navale împletite. Lângă biserică se află o fostă mănăstire transformată acum într-un muzeu, care găzduiește o colecție de picturi portugheze și flamande din secolele al XV-lea și al XVI-lea.
