Oh yes ! Horses are the best ! It is a humiliating, tough experience to loose mobility, not able to do the things we were used to, especially if athletic… I still have a hard time cutting my own carrots but little by little… I started aproaching horses via grooming and caring… I will one day ride again.

I hope that day comes soon. I know from my own experience just how hard it is to lose your sense of self & to lose trust in your own body. Sending you healing vibes 🤗

This so beautiful , I am riding now myself but wished I would of had this in 1995 when I had a frontal lobe head injury at work and have since developed epilepsy, fortunately it is controlled by medication now so I can pursue my love of horses 🐴 but I think my healing process would of gone better earlier on with my equine friends rather then in a system full of people run by the insurance industry.

    * THIS IS MY GOAL! Now that I’m retired Law Enforcement and have purchased a small piece of property and own 3 horses, I am moving forward toward helping those who are suffering from PTSD, physical disabilities, work with troubled teens and all types of Therapeutic Riding. Looking for training videos, pouring through training manuals and working with my horses everyday to get them prepared is my new job. Thank you for this video, it encourages me to move forward in my goals and bring horses & humans together with healing.

      What state are you in?
I began volunteering at Camp Liberty equine therapy in Marrietta, Illinois last summer. Eric Hughes, the owner, has a website for Camp Liberty.
I was wondering what your challenges were or currently are in setting up your project. How is it going? Are you located next to a big town or city?

I love how gracious and patient that horse is toward her. They are such kind, loving and intelligent animals, when people have treated them kindly and respected them. Such a gift from God to this world.

This is a wonderful story. Thank you for all the work you did with her! My husband and I are thinking about booking a horse back ride come spring of 2024. We might bring our adult daughter with us too.

I love horses and the special relationship man can have with them. They are a precious gift. Without them through history man could not have survived. We cannot dwell on the past, but move forward. You have shown courage and determination of the human spirit. I'm so happy for you! God bless you Kelsey.

This is so very beautiful & inspiring. To see her kneeling on a horse after such a massive injury 🥹 I’ve been crushed by depression for years now due to chronic pain & not being able to do the job I love as a Paramedic, but having to compress myself into a very different role. And there are so many times I’ve desperately missed horsey cuddles & company, much less being able to ride, but I’ve been afraid to aggravate my illness or cause injury. I was fortunate enough, many years ago, to meet two amazing horses. One who was just the biggest, goofiest, human-loving love bug, even though he was an ex-racehorse. And the other who had a history of abuse but let me in & learned to trust me & taught me the difference between learning to control a horse when riding, and actually riding WITH a horse. I am so privileged to have had them in my life & I’d dearly love to have that kind of connection again & to learn to trust my body again.
To see someone battle through so much & those gorgeous, mega calm & caring horses work together to get her moving independently, is one of the most beautiful things I’ve seen.

It is so amazing to see the healing work that horses do. Not only at a physically level, these animals affect our hearts, souls, spirits and mind. I love what you do. I love the caring and heart felt work ... I would ask one thing, since these kind creatures work so hard to help, could you try to do you work with less constraint? Go to bitless bridles and allow the horse more neck and head freedom. When you keep the horse from reaching out with his head, you take away some of the movement that is vital for balance and collection, and that in turn takes away the feeling of the true movement in the horse for the client.

I was thinking the same thing. Not being able to move their head freely & keeping it in that one position for hours at a time must cause their beautiful horses discomfort & pain.

Do you how to help to heal emotional damage in horses that are pushy and sometimes bite? I just got two horses as a gift from my father-in-law from a sale barn. One is a year old filly quarter horse, and the other is a Paso Fino paint mare. Both have tried to bite me and the filly dragged me, when we took her for a walk through our yard. Both tried to get away from us. They have only been with us less than 2 months. I have no idea what they’ve been through, but I am determined to earn their trust and show them the best care.

Adrianne, I'm not sure these 2 horses have been through something traumatic. Your description is of horses who were not educated to respect humans and acting bossy. Do you have equestrian professionals in your area who could help you?

just a friendly warning here, if you are looking for an equine therapist or trainer DO NOT contact Alane Freund. she has a history of mentally abusing her clients and horses. just trying to warn people before more get hurt.

    Why weren't they wearing helmets??

  • @lenbykrabi8107
    @lenbykrabi8107 5 років тому +3

Why they don't remove the side reins? They are disturbing the horse. Such therapy is a nice way as long as no animal gets hurt make feel uncomfortable. But unfortunately the horses feel uncomfortable

Totally agree , the horse cannot use his body correctly when the neck is held into a position , study functional movement and especially the thoracic sling !
It's about the horse too ! This model is actually cruel to the horse !
