Thank you indeed for an in-depth review - much appreciated, including the critical remarks! Entirely justified. The maps mostly come from my own campaign docs; that is a limitation, but it is the only way I have found to preserve the immediacy of the zine format. My large projects tend to balloon into endless multi-year affairs, so zine-style publications are intentionally kept limited.
Rising Tombs is a site that was visited for wildly different reasons through multiple campaigns (or even a single campaign); it is fairly open-ended that way. It also strives to be open to characters with different capabilities. For example, the first expeditions in the current campaign focused on avoiding the more dangerous locations, while a returning high-level party killed off the shadow hydra - but still had to run from the great serpent!
Also, that is some wonderful, crisp photography. It is great to see the booklet in this light. And I'll definitely be following this channel.

Thanks for the comment! I've been really enjoying reading the Fomalhaut zines and I greatly appreciate the physical format and the concise and imaginative writing. I'm looking forward to collecting the other issues and I have heard good things about Castle Xyntillan as well. Cheers!

I'm so glad you reviewed this, and in such an in-depth manner great for DMs like me. Gabor Lux is an absolute treasure to the OSR space, just as good as Gavin Norman of Old School Essentials/Dolmenwood, or Patrick Stuart of Deep Carbon Observatory. It's going on my list of books and zines to buy. 👍

A quick note about the magical sword Frogbringer briefly mentioned in the video. In the original Hungarian, it's based on a pun: "Frogbringer" is "Békahozó," which is a single letter away from "Békehozó," which would be "Peacebringer" and the sort of name you'd expect attached to a fantasy magic weapon. A cursed magic item masquarading as a useful one, indeed - very much in the spirit of the AD&D magic item table.

Issues 7 & 10 detail yet more dungeon complexes in the City of Vultures (each as large and interconnected as the Gallery of Rising Tombs). Issue 8 details the complete hexcrawl of the overland desert area. There's a supplement zine also dedicated to random encounters and hooks in the City of Vultures, called "The Night Table".
The Wandering Glade is a secret location in the Isle of Erillion, a hex crawl detailed in previous issues if the zine. Previous issues also include several cities in Erillion, along with their own underground dungeons. One of these cities, Baklin, has its own supplement with a 300-room megadungeon underneath. Pilgrims need to follow a prophecy that takes them between several hex areas across the map in order to be magically teleported into the Glade, or randomly devoured by it as it wanders about.

I have every issue and every one's a gem. I was surprised to see a video on one pop up in my feed, though. This publication is pretty cult/niche.

Yes I have only recently discovered these zines and I am a big fan. I may review more in the future.
