by instinct we play and inspect a toy. This is not a sculptural piece of art. Those don’t come with a manual too. Simply put, it’s the toy designer’s flaw, not human error. 👍🏽 Toy looks great but that tiny piece that snaps off will become a hazard for all who purchase it.
@@JustTiisLeagueSo do they or do they NOT come with a manual? One of you here is wrong and considering he brought up the instructions in the video....
@@JustTiisLeague it is human error. A) it's mentioned in the instructions as the original post mentioned, B) you can clearly see the square peg on the extra head and C) there's a thing called resistance. When the user decides to ignore said resistance and force the joint, this stuff happens. I agree it should have been a round peg and peghole but honestly, with bandanas that short there's not even a point in moving them at all.
Yeah so that "white coating" on the figures is the plastic materials that they use for the figures slowly seeping out overtime. Usually happens when they are kept in storage in an environment that is too susceptible to temperature changes, can also happen just due to age alone though. I recently purchased an Original S H Figuarts Android 18 that had the powder effect on them but it was a very easy fix. Simply put the figure inside its box and sit it on top of a lamp shade with a light bulb shining onto it (needs to be an incandescent bulb so it produces enough heat). After a couple of hours there will be no sign of the powder left as it will of all evaporated back into the figure! Great review as always and I can't wait to see what you add to your collection next!
Oof, wish I knew about that before. I have this Labcoat 21 figure and when I was fixing its pose recently, I noticed that was almost entirely covered in the white powder after standing here in my display for a year now. I thought it was just dust so I brushed it off with a paintbrush.
Hey i can help you with that bandana, im a professional model builder and painter. All you need to do is pin it in place. get yourself a paper clip and a drill bit that is ether the same size or slightly larger than the paper clips diameter. If you have a small manual hand drill awesome but if not, you can use the drill bit by itself. Drill a hole into the bandana first, about a quarter of a inch deep. Then cut a streaight section of the the paper clip to about half a inch length rod. add a thin amount of super glue to one end of the paper clip and insert it. Wait for it to dry, then once its ready, just add a small bit of paint to the paper thats sticking out from the bandana (this will make more sense in a moment) take the bandana with the newley inserted clip and try to line it up center and touch the painted tip to the head and pull it away, it should leave a perfecly centered dot which shows you were to drill the next hole, if you skip this step you could potentially drill the hole off-center to the bandana so i recommend doing this. Then once youve got both holes lined up simply add a thin layer of glue and insert the pinned bandana, the pin will rrally make it extra strong and it will never break again. You could also take a little sand paper to the clip to create more surface area for the glue to grip on to.
Your posing skills are A+ I bought these figures when they first came out & I was so disappointed when the line was discontinued. There were images of Shredder but it was never released for sale
Die cast legs and the smooth joints and articulation make these the best set of classic 80s toon turtles imo. But if you want the whole cast of characters, and the swappable expressions, NECA definitely won there.
These are great figures! I personally think they eclipse most other SHF figures in how solid and precise they are. I'm really glad I picked them up before they sold out everywhere. And yeah...wish the line would have lasted a bit longer. The aesthetic is a bit silly...but TMNT is silliness itself, so, I guess it works!

I had those. Sold them. They were nice, but I didnt think they are the best out. I did like how the lower part (I believe) of the legs were actually metal, which were excellent for posing. And how it was impossible to see the difference in paint color between the plastic to metal. I also liked how the shells slide up and down for better posablity for the neck and head.
YEESS!! He did it!! He reviewed them!! I'm so happy! (Sad Abt Mikey, though. Sorry man) But I NEEDED this review!! Thank You Nostalgia Unboxed. Now somebody please get him a Mezco Set!
Was lucky enough to pickup the Leonardo a few months back. Loved it! Bit of a happy-sad moment. Sad because the seller didn't have the rest, and happy because I didn't have any more cash. Definitely working my way towards acquiring the other 3...
The powder is probably to keep moisture off of them. It keeps the metal from corrosion and the soft plastic/rubber from cracking. I know most silicone figures have powder to keep moisture off the silicone and to keep it from sticking to everything
Love this set of turtles. There's an extra articulation point the shell moves up and down to give more range on head and legs. If they came with an angry, goofy and stoic head sculpts they have been better received
When NECA released their cartoon sdcc set, (with the villains)... I actually passed on them to buy Leo, and Mikey from Bluefins booth at comic con. Awesome figures, I ended up buy Raph and Don from BBTS when they carried them.
I have some figures that seem like they constantly leech plasticizer out of them, most of them are that semi rubbery plastic material. The worst offenders are the super articulated Playmates movie TMNT from about 10 years ago, even after I wash them off, a few months later they have a white powdery coating on them again.
You can fix the bandana part that's stuck in there with a really small wood screw - the ones with the pointy tip. Just screw it into the part that's stuck and pull.
I'm glad you did this review because I bought these about 4-5 years ago and haven't opened them yet. I am shocked that they have Die Cast parts!! Once again, you can't go wrong with Japanese toys!
I used to have a Ali Express Sh TMNT Mikey, and the box was flimsy and I had to repaint a derp eye, but that was a high quality figure! and the bandanna did not break.
Hey, for the Michelangelo you can get a "jewelers drill" bit. I think Amazon has them. Not sure if with the drill bit you can pull out the peg like a cork on a wine bottle. But you can fix the bandana by cutting a piece of a paper clip gluing it in the peg and doing the same on the bandana. I did that for my FF7 Daytona, the handle broke and its been good ever since.
And about the bandana pieces that you broke don't worry this is what I did because. They fall very easily. And they are easy to loose. I bought 2 kinds of small magnets. Small cilíndricas. To slide inside the head piece where the bandana should be And another. Small circular flat one I cured if the part that you broke and glued it and then you can remove them easy and you don't have to worry about falling off
Totally tubular review, man! As big a fan I am of these figures, its hard to be NECA. They're simply TMNT champions. I also thought it was very weird that only Don came with pizza. Keep up the great work, dude. Cheers!
@@NostalgiaUnboxed the problem with it is the ankles would fail kinda fast because metal on plastic... Was great for balance though. You can do poses with them just not possible with other lines

I’m content with the Neca ones, but if they re-release then, I might grab Leo just out of curiosity. At least they’re not in style guide colors. I never understood the green shells on those.
man, i never wouldve expected to hear someone getting figures from crowemag toys, i used to go there alot whenevr i'd save up enough to buy something expensive
this line was amazing but the pricing kept me away from getting the four turtles. It is odd that this figures are more in line with bandai's Metal Robot Spirits than it is with other S.H. Figuarts. They have lots of metal in the body, not just in the legs.
I missed it if you already talked about it. Thought on TMNT 2003 Super7? Donny looks great, but hate that the head I like most is an event exclusive. Very curious if S7 got it figured out with the new articulation.
The only turtles that can pose better than these are the 2012 series figures from Revoltech. They've kinda become grail pieces for a lot of tmnt collectors.
My mikey headband broke off too just him. The white powder is probably because they were stored inis light. It's oxidationThe white powder might be from being stored in sunlight. It's oxidation.
“Let’s move on.. I’m sad” had me rolling on the floor. I bought a knock of version of this set for under $100 for all four. My Mikey’s arm fell apart at the shoulder articulation. I’m sure the real ones are better but I hated them lol.
@@NostalgiaUnboxed You are right. I wasn’t hating on the real ones based on my KO experience, just making conversations. Also like you, I prefer the neca ones anyways so I don’t need to buy the real set. My KOs look nice inside their boxes, so that’s where they will stay 🤣
I kinda agree. But these are one of the best and most pose able tmnt figures, looking very much like the 80's cartoons promo's. Still wondering why there is not even one company that proceeded in this style and line. Would love to see shredder or Splinter. If a company would pick this up or it somehow gets a miraculous continuation in this style a line, it would be one of the best.
Probably a soak in some very hot water and you might be able to get that bandana stump out of Michelangelo’s noggin with tweezers. Also, that powder could be dust from displaying them by the previous owner. Hopefully just regular dust.
Thanks sensai for the review of these TMNT figures. These have the feel of the TMNT for NES. If they did them per game and TV series as 2-packs; that would be great to see what else they create for the IP. As for the Michaelangelo bandana breaking, great warning that these are not playable out of package. Geared towards collectors. Appreciate knowing that ahead of ordering, as a pet owner, my loose figures have to be high from my feline's reach. 🤣
I loved these but had to sell mine since the line wasn't going to continue and I preferred the more toon accurate Neca turtles...btw the Super Mario SH Figuarts are also great but once again short lived
Great video now I am in search for the sh.figuarts tmnt figures 😀. Thanks again for making your videos for some reason I keep having difficulty picking up figures. They sell out then I stuck with prices that way to high. Thanks again and would you be willing to sell your sh.figuarts tmnt figures. Or no someone who would be selling at a fare price.
Most articulated tmnt figures IMHO is still Revoltech tmnt. But this Shf joints are hard to find now great set nonetheless brings me back to those days😊
The transition at 02:49 is great, you did a very good job ! I had these figures yeaaaaaars ago, and i’m surprised they are still for sale today. I don’t like them that much because they don’t look like the show, but like the promo, wich i don’t care about. But i admit the sculpt is good. In hand, i don’t feel like having SH Figuarts figures, because they are heavy, they must have metla inside.
This is nice, but I am hoping the 2003 aren’t going to fully 7 inches tall, because I got the Ronin that figure doesn’t seem like 7 inches tall. I really like those Turtles, I sold mine because I wanted those ones. This are great too, I mean it like you pay 200 dollars for 4 turtles everywhere you go.
@@NostalgiaUnboxedHmm, ok it is weird because I have the Neca Predator and the Neca Ronin both are listed as the same height. That simply isn’t true due to the fact that Predator is significantly taller. So I don’t know what to trust I want a teenage size I love 2003 and when I saw them I almost cried.
@@NostalgiaUnboxed So which ones would you get, the Neca movie, Neca cartoon, or these other ones I saw on Big Bad Toy Story which said was an exclusive it says it has better paint than the standard one, but it does have Leo. They are 5 inches but I think that works. It is based on the modern comic look to them. They aren’t as expensive. But as someone who is trying to do stop motion i would like more articulation. I was going to with the Neca movie ones but they are so damn expensive. This figures after that break from the bandanna broke off, I am not going to do that.
@@NostalgiaUnboxed But is it actually worth it is my point? I don't have a lot and in order to do the big stop-motion series I need them because the current series I am making is actual events and the series called the Clone Wars I need a lot of action figures including the four, Splinter, and Shredder. I found a good Splinter and a 8 inch Shredder. Not to mention the fact of the ninjas, which I am just going to use the Hand from Marvel Legends, and the foot and the Hand are going to be the same. I have tried to play it smart but the stuff I need costs 4 grand and I don't have that. I mean the figures I bought recently to help finish off the series I am still paying for it.
I have owned these since they were first released and I love them so much. I think I’ve taken more photos of these four than any other TMNT in my collection. Years go they showcased a Shredder figure but Bandai never made him. You can look up pics of him and even the prototype looks great. Also I have around 80 Figuarts figures give or take and these are the only ones that have metal parts in them. I never liked the way the bandana attaches and swap but thankfully I never broke any of mine. Sorry that happened to ya bud.
The Shredder looks so good! They make so many prototypes and never follow through. It's really frustrating sometimes. Especially for characters you can't get anywhere

What about revoltech tmnt 2012
Those are amazing for that design, but for 80s boys this is it
Wow! I am surprised you uploaded this a day back, as these figures are so old now 😃 Congrats on these!
New to me lol
I remember I had a TMNT toy that the head went in... That was my favourite. I miss it..
💔
Back in the beginning of my "Best Turtle search" I leaned heavier to these over the NECA but availability was of course the deciding factor. 🐢🐢🐢🐢
Definitely makes an impact
man, i never wouldve expected to hear someone getting figures from crowemag toys, i used to go there alot whenevr i'd save up enough to buy something expensive
That's awesome!
The powder substance is like token powder they put it in the joints so they don't lock up and have the problem that Neca is infamous for.
@@michaelprovins9366 interesting
this line was amazing but the pricing kept me away from getting the four turtles. It is odd that this figures are more in line with bandai's Metal Robot Spirits than it is with other S.H. Figuarts. They have lots of metal in the body, not just in the legs.
Oh, that's really interesting!
I missed it if you already talked about it. Thought on TMNT 2003 Super7? Donny looks great, but hate that the head I like most is an event exclusive. Very curious if S7 got it figured out with the new articulation.
I won't buy them, but I surely hope they are without issues when they finally make them
I still wish they would revive this line, if only for the shredder they showed off at shows for a while
No kidding!
Johnny, these are amazing, but have you seen the Shredder prototype? It was fantastic. Too bad they didn't release it.
It’s stunning
They look like more refined, better Articulated versions of the BST classic Turtles. Which is my personal favorite Turtle line right now👍
I’m glad you’re enjoying those
The only turtles that can pose better than these are the 2012 series figures from Revoltech. They've kinda become grail pieces for a lot of tmnt collectors.
Yes you're right! I am trying to get the Revoltech ones! My Personal grails for tmnt are the 2008 Neca mirage and Mezco one(1st release)
Yeah, those are great and come with some excellent head sculpts
My mikey headband broke off too just him. The white powder is probably because they were stored inis light. It's oxidationThe white powder might be from being stored in sunlight. It's oxidation.
Cowabummer
I know that it probably would've been diminishing returns for Bandai to do more TMNT figures, but they certainly would've been better than NECA.
@@otaking3582 it’s really a bummer. I’m sure they count on their Japanese market a lot, so maybe these didn’t do as well
I wouldn't mind seeing sh figuarts do mirage version turtles. Sorry about the breakage on the bandana.
That would be cool
“Let’s move on.. I’m sad” had me rolling on the floor. I bought a knock of version of this set for under $100 for all four. My Mikey’s arm fell apart at the shoulder articulation. I’m sure the real ones are better but I hated them lol.
Haha, you can't hate on the real deal if you only had a KO
They made a prototype of Shredder and it looks so good!
Probably a soak in some very hot water and you might be able to get that bandana stump out of Michelangelo’s noggin with tweezers.
Also, that powder could be dust from displaying them by the previous owner. Hopefully just regular dust.
Some people said it was coming from the plastic. Like it is breaking down over time
@@NostalgiaUnboxed Could very well be. Plastic is a mysterious mistress.
My favorite set of Turtles goes to Revoltech. These come in at no. 2. Following them is NECA's movie Turtles.
Def want to try those
For me the neca cartoon turtles are the best. Great review.
thanks
Love this set! I think they were my first BBTS purchase ever. Mine never had powder on them so be careful… or maybe wash them? Haha
It’s so strange
Thanks sensai for the review of these TMNT figures. These have the feel of the TMNT for NES. If they did them per game and TV series as 2-packs; that would be great to see what else they create for the IP.
As for the Michaelangelo bandana breaking, great warning that these are not playable out of package. Geared towards collectors. Appreciate knowing that ahead of ordering, as a pet owner, my loose figures have to be high from my feline's reach. 🤣
Haha yeah, cats can be a pain. I’ve lost stuff forever because of them
I'm 4:30 in and I don't remember hearing what "not plastic" refers to. The legs and belt buckle?!?
They are die cast metal
@@NostalgiaUnboxed All metal? Cool.
@@AdrianCeroni I mean, 50%, which is still insane for figures. If you wanna focus on that detail then go ahead
that white stuff is mold release it tends kinda stay in points
@@lolo27234 yikes
@@NostalgiaUnboxed yeah but don’t worry it’s nothing bad happens from it
Cool review as always man. Why does the title say they weren't plastic?
@@rohantherevolution the bottom half of them are die cast which I mention along with it feeling cold to the touch
I loved these but had to sell mine since the line wasn't going to continue and I preferred the more toon accurate Neca turtles...btw the Super Mario SH Figuarts are also great but once again short lived
When Jakks released their Mario stuff I found the SHF line and was really impressed. I think that's definitely the way to go
Coming back to this of your up to mod and kit bash these with the neca figures that might work best
@@lolo27234 not something I would do, honestly
@@NostalgiaUnboxed I understand stand that just a thought to use these guys for
Great video now I am in search for the sh.figuarts tmnt figures 😀. Thanks again for making your videos for some reason I keep having difficulty picking up figures. They sell out then I stuck with prices that way to high. Thanks again and would you be willing to sell your sh.figuarts tmnt figures. Or no someone who would be selling at a fare price.
I can sell these. Remember the issue with Mikey
What would you be asking 😅
@@NostalgiaUnboxed
Okay what would be your price. I'm interested but would have to save first, hope you aren't in a rush. Do you see my email
Most articulated tmnt figures IMHO is still Revoltech tmnt. But this Shf joints are hard to find now great set nonetheless brings me back to those days😊
Def want to mess around with that line
All my fav figure reviewers are posting today ❤️
Nice!
That is a lot of molds made for this one set. Surprised it didn't cost more originally.
It’s a bummer it ended so abruptly
Can you do a full video of poses with the neca turtles
There are several videos of the NECA turtles. Each individual VHS figure and then Turtles in Disguise set
I appreciate that
@@NostalgiaUnboxed You're very welcome.
I know it's hard to do, it can takes some time to be done.
2003 is the Super7 like so they will definitely be big
@@ashcraft257 movie version is always my favorite
Well, sometimes in the factories, if it’s a Friday night, a little bit of booger sugar may fall in the packaging assembly line
Oh my
"This is going to be a long one on my end" - Johnny 😏😉 lol
@@morbidsstudio I wish
Careful with the heads.
These look like better versions of the bst axn 80s turtles, which isnt hard to pull off. Neca is still undefeated in 80s toon likeness
When bst axn were first revealed I remember everyone saying they KO'd the figuarts turtles. And they did, all the way down to the accessories lol.
Hard to beat
I have Michael Angelo and it s my favorite turtle I own I’m debating on completing the set eventually.
Haha love it. Maybe one day
Yeah they are definitely based on the licensed merchandise designs (party supplies, pjs, shirts, ect) and not the show designs
Yeah
