    Hello Kyle and Shanon
When my daughter and her kidlets moved in with me - we planted a garden. The promise is - To do better this year than we did the last year. Gardening is all about learning.
    The garden looks great!
It’s worth looking into companion planting.
Hornworms and grasshoppers could leave the planet.
    Blessings ❤

Shannon I’ll be honest with you, I always bought my tomatoe, pepper, cucumber and hot pepper starter plants, for how inexpensive they are to the bounty of vegetables I got was well worth it and my success rate was at least 90%, I directly seeded onions garlic radishes carrots and lettuce and always had way more then I needed but I also loved canning so much of it for my parents and kids. I did all that with no SHAME!!!! I love to cook so I also had tons of herbs planted and froze them for the ready. Kyle, between you three boys grandpa will have nothing to worry about but I think you’ll have to remove the cameras so he doesn’t have an anxiety attack! Hahaha. You all all have a great day ♥️🙏🏻🇨🇦

I do a combination of both. Certain types of plants just take too long during our growing season and specifically my garden area. I also leave some of the vegetables that rotted in my raided bed in the garden for next year. I have plenty of squash growing in there.

You both are amazing. The garden is beautiful. We used to have a mouse in our house every year, until we got a cat. She ran around our house chasing something and went into my husband's office. Our cat stopped and looked at us and had a mouse in her mouth. She thought she was in trouble and dropped it and it ran off. That happened 3 almost 4 years ago, and now we do not have problems with mice. Praying for your parents, you and your wife, and the entire Doss family. God bless you all abundantly.

I love the joking and teasing between all of the Doss family. Well done to Shannon on getting your first garden started and beginning to see food growing now. Those hornworms will totally eat up your tomato plants. Hopefully the Bird Herd will love to eat them. Prayers for Grandpa and Grandma!

Yep. Like picking ticks off the dogs and ourselves, piling them up, setting them afire and listening to them pop like tiny fireworks. We hated the commands to go straight to the bathroom and do tick checks on each other before we could have supper. We were starved after horseback riding or roaming the farm all day. Often just taking a sandwich with us for lunch.

Shannon, on the wormed on the tomatoes, I use to have them on my tomatoes. I put a bird feeder close to where I have my tomatoes planted and for two years now I have no more worms. I believe the birds took care of them. Also in the video about the last part when you are in the garden , behind you. I see bag worms in the tree. If you don’t cut that out and burn them they will be in your other trees and destroy them . They have killed trees and flowers in my yard. I had a burning bush in my yard very big and beautiful. They killed it. At the time I didn’t know about them. God Bless y’all praying for y’all s family going Al u are right now.

I remember when I had a small garden in my yard. I would put a clean pickle ( or any other jar) upside down over my seedlings to help protect them from the cold and bugs. It helped a lot. Also I found that starting your plants inside your building will make the plants really tall and spindlely because the will stretch to get to the sun. So I would start them inside until they break ground then put them outside with a jar over them so they don't reach for the sun.
I laughed with the opening seen with Bruno and the strawberry plant. It also brought back memories of my dog I had a few years ago. She LOVED strawberries and when I would take her out for a walk she would always go over toy small strawberry patch. I miss her a lot.

Watch for squash bugs around the base of your squash plants. They will eat the base of your plants.

Shannon, My first rule when dealing with plants is to tell them to "Live or Dye, Just Do Something!!" AND they listen and comply every time.
All the best to you and Kyle and the Kriters from a Maine Grandmother

Kyle, can't wait to see your spin on Dad's chores! Shannon, your garden looks great! You can also grow a fall garden of lettuce and peas plus other things direct seeded. I tried spinach last fall and the frost came before they were eating size. Will try it again earlier this year. Lettuce grows very fast though. Carrots started in mid August will stay around until negative temps. My first garden moving up from Texas to Missouri was a learning experience for sure! Texas Deb ❤

Bruno makes me happy every day that I adopted a 1 yr old American pit/Belgian Malenois mix. Penny is a great dog. You guys have a lot more energy than we do. I hired a trainer, and it was a really smart thing to do. Her prey drive and recall have been the most work. I was encouraged to try an e-collar as a result of watching you. It has been a game changer. I've mostly used sound a vibrate. I only used the shock on a very low setting once. She has really been great off leash. There is no need for the e-collar anymore. I wish you all the best taking care of Grandpa's animals. He has spoiled them terribly.
