two years ago I sold my Mesa for 150 bucks and bought Joyo High Gain Dist. 2 years after i met the person whom i sold the Mesa in a gig parking lot and i was shocked when he told me he sold the mesa for same price and bought joyo high gain instead.
I'm kinda disappointed. I own a mesa MkV and it pretty much kills any high gain amp imo. I'm looking for a gain pedal for my marshall clean channel for home playing. The joyo held the notes together better imo. Wow
The Mesa is smoother, the Joyo is angrier. I don't think "better" applies to either, both would make good music and the difference is subtle. Good video.
In the mix, joyp does sound better. But to be fair to Mesa, you could’ve turned the mid-cut knob to the left which would’ve added a lot of mid range clarity. You have it past noon, which is scooping and darkening the sound.
At first, I instantly thought 'all right 1 is the Mesa, 2 is the Joyo'. Then I scrolled down to see the comments and I was like 'No, it can't be!'. Continued to watch the video and discovered Joyo is a force to be reckoned with.
Well done shoot out for sure ! Good work . I got it right in the first switch over . Most likely due to the fact I own the same Joyo High gain distortion pedal myself . I also have the Joyo Orange Oxford sound . Well built , great sounding pedals . Watch their value go up now now !
There is kot much difference betweem components that go in to pedals.A dioad is a dioad,a capacitor is a calacitor. There is slight difference in sound with a more quality component but there are about 2 kinds and not a wide selection.Cheap pedals work almost as good as expensive ones.
The pedal I use for 80s-90s metal that I run into the front of my 20 watt tube amp head with a 4-12 marshall cab is the one you have just to the left of the joyo. It's not quite out of the camera shot. I only put the gain at 9 o clock on the grunge and keep the treble in check or it can start to get to nasty. Also my boss EQ is a must with it. I get great sounds with that setup for 80s metal. So the grunge does not suck if used right and has surprised quite a few people.
I am completely shocked. The Joyo was a lot clearer and a whole lot less muddy. I have been a Mesa die hard for decades, but don’t have the resources to buy one of their amps. This proves that circuits really aren’t that much different as far as components. No need to buy a 200 overdrive or distortion.
Pedal 1 sounds like a $50 pedal Pedal 2 sounds like $100 pedal. The tonal quality is night and day. Joyo a noisy little bitch Mesa sounds rich and creamy. Sounds like the Mesa has some built-in compression.

by far joyo sounds better
ziggy8757 it’s crazy dude.

Pedal 1 was tighter than the 2nd. I thought it was the throttle box! LOL
very amusing. nice distortion pedal !

Joyo is clearly the winner on sound - crisp and clean. The Mesa sounded too muddy.
Cam Whitman i was really impressed with the joyo!

I thought the 1st pedal was the Mesa the whole time. Because it sounded way better than the 2nd.

I was thinking to myself: dude you have to buy 'pedal 1' no matter what it costs... it was a cool suprise!

Pedal 1 for sure, and I can't even afford a $200 amp .
The joyo is a Marshall Shredmaster clone
I liked the Joyo sound better. It was much cleaner and punchier where the Mesa sounded a bit muddy and flabby.
Kcducttaper1 I agree! Pretty crazy. I mean it’s a Mesa but the Joyo can easily keep up
Fun and entertainment. I like it :)
Wow!... Loved the Joyo!
I love the joyo better, I had to buy one, great video content. Another question, where did you get that big clearish foot pedal on the joyo pedal?
I got it from a company called barefoot buttons. However, there are a lot of options on now Amazon too.
Cool thank you.
What are they called on Amazon?
I found them on Amazon, rite on man, thank you and I subscribed to you.

Joyo makes some smazing affordable pedals.have the pocket metal pedal and love it the joyo in this video blows away the mesa pedal
joyo high gain is the best for me😊
Mesa is muddy. Joyo FTW.
They are different. But I liked the joyo.😐
Joyo already won.

If you think the joyo is better your ears are broke.
