Additional points / clarifications: When I'm talking about the 128/256 EPROM chips being "interchangeable" I'm ONLY talking about this in context of using them in the Juno. Of course they have differences in other applications so don't take what I said as EPROM gospel because that would be completely wrong. They have differences in addressing and pinout. I forgot to cover it but I made a new dust cover / gasket for the volume control with a bit of thin neoprene rubber, and carefully superglued it to each edge of the slider. The proper modern stuff is made from resin-bonded acrylic felt (NOT ordinary craft felt!) which I hoped to just buy in a small sheet and cut myself... but I can't find it anywhere (apart from expensive pre-made ones)
Congrats for your work! I still have my Alpha Juno 1 bought new in 1985 and it works well. Yes, its display becomes difficult to read but it's still readable. Your mod with the red display is excellent, this red is cute and absolutely in the easthetic of the synth. 👍 (actualy this orange is almost the same of the one on the FB-01, same time period)
@@FLH3official thank you, I was on the fence about doing the OLED mod but now it's in the studio I'm very glad I did. Where they're positioned tends to be in shadow, so LED and VFD win by a country mile in there
@@jamesbennettmusic On my side if one day I decide to change the display I guess I'll stay with an LCD as I don't have the ressources, and the knowledge, to flash a new ROM.
Hi, new subscriber great vid!! I also have one in queue it’s in great condition apart from a dead screen and a battery replacement! Many thanks great stuff ⚡️
I have a JU-1. Done a few bits to it but the OLED looks like a nice upgrade. Do you have the model number for the OLED you bought from CPC please? And would you consider burning and selling an EEPROM for me to help me carry this out?
I should've added that to the description! The OLED was this one cpc.farnell.com/winstar/weh001601blpp5n00000/oled-display-16x1-character-5v/dp/SC19089?CMP=e-email-sys-shipping-GLB-Product and feel free to drop me an email about the EPROM
I followed your install of the OLED exactly and my AJ1 refused........Dont know if its a dodgy display but on reverting it to the OG display, it lit up......😢😢😢

Great work, I also own a @ Juno-1 and I need a Volume slider to start to fixing it. You inspired me to start with this project again. Thanks
Should be a standard ALPS part you can hopefully still find. Good luck!
