One of the characters is based off a former Compton cop who was part of the task force. He mentioned how Compton City Hall was corrupt as all hell and so was the police department. They didn't have the money to process weapons and when any progress was being made it was hindered by dirty cops 98 percent of the time. It's like the department was just there for show if anything.

TLR asked him whats the root cause of gangs and if legalizing drugs would change things...IMO the cause of a lot of societys issues is POVERTY. Its not the only cause, but i think its one of the major ones. Even if drugs were legalized, there would be other hustles. Poverty and crime go hand in hand, and even though fixing poverty wouldnt fix EVERYTHING...i mean the suburbs has crime too..but i think it would make a big difference. In 1930's germany they sectioned off jews into poverty areas and they called those places ghettos, kinda like the ghettos of today. And surprise surprise the poverty mixed with racism caused those jewish ghettos to have the highest crime rates of that time. Fixing those 2 things wont fix everything like i said, but it would make a huge impact. you're right, think about how everyone says the economy was so much better in 2020. during the pandemic, people got their rent paid, loans paused with no interest, unemployment money, free groceries and school lunch, stimulus checks, and had all their basic needs (housing, education, food, Healthcare) paid for. with the exception of PPE loans and the BLM protests, most people weren't breaking the law when they had their needs taken care of. most people don't want to commit crimes if they don't have to. of course some people will just because they get a thrill from breaking the law, but most people do crime out of survival
