As a former hispanic gang member from Compton, I remember Ladd & his partner "Blondie". It was always a game of cat & mouse with these guys. They were solid dudes. That's how police work. Task Forces are extremely Small. When they need to go do something, they grab normal Unis but otherwise it's a pretty small group. The Exception is when they form an Enforcement Unit like CRASH in LA or SMASH in the IE.

There's a show on Netflix that kinda touched a bit on this topic. It revolved around the 2nd Biggie murder investigation that happened in 06 I believe it was after Biggies mother threatened to sue the LAPD over a wrongful death if they didn't investigate properly.
One of the characters is based off a former Compton cop who was part of the task force. He mentioned how Compton City Hall was corrupt as all hell and so was the police department. They didn't have the money to process weapons and when any progress was being made it was hindered by dirty cops 98 percent of the time. It's like the department was just there for show if anything.

Comparing LA street gangs to Italian mafia is not a comparison. Crips, Blood and Latinos gangs in La was started by teenagers in high school. Most gang members in LA start around 12-13 years old. The mafia are grown men. Most gang members in the 70s would graduate from gang membership around 18 but that change with the drug trade.

TLR asked him whats the root cause of gangs and if legalizing drugs would change things...IMO the cause of a lot of societys issues is POVERTY. Its not the only cause, but i think its one of the major ones. Even if drugs were legalized, there would be other hustles. Poverty and crime go hand in hand, and even though fixing poverty wouldnt fix EVERYTHING...i mean the suburbs has crime too..but i think it would make a big difference. In 1930's germany they sectioned off jews into poverty areas and they called those places ghettos, kinda like the ghettos of today. And surprise surprise the poverty mixed with racism caused those jewish ghettos to have the highest crime rates of that time. Fixing those 2 things wont fix everything like i said, but it would make a huge impact. It also proves that we're all human, and when you subject humans to certain conditions youll basically get the same results, no matter what kinda humans. But what do i know. Peace and love for the world ✌🙏✊👍✋🤝🤜🤛💙

you're right, think about how everyone says the economy was so much better in 2020. during the pandemic, people got their rent paid, loans paused with no interest, unemployment money, free groceries and school lunch, stimulus checks, and had all their basic needs (housing, education, food, Healthcare) paid for. with the exception of PPE loans and the BLM protests, most people weren't breaking the law when they had their needs taken care of.
most people don't want to commit crimes if they don't have to. of course some people will just because they get a thrill from breaking the law, but most people do crime out of survival
