Polterpup is the real hero of the game. He helped Luigi find the Poltergust, let himself be the target to let Luigi get comfortable using the flashlight and Poltergust, , helped find E.Gadd, saved Luigi from drowning and saved Luigi from King Boo’s trap at the end of the game.

I just realized, even after the dark moon was put back together, polterpup didn't have eyes in Luigi's Mansion 3. Which is weird because in the ending of Dark Moon, polterpup had eyes. But don't worry, polterpup looks good either way.
He had always redeemed himself he wasn’t a bad ghost or anything when he first encounter Luigi he was just simply being playful to him but he never wasn’t dangerous to him as a threat he was just an innocent puppy that completely Wanted an owner
Would have still preferred him as a constant companion who replaces Gooigi as the co-op-partner. So he still likes to steal and trash stuff, as long as it doesn't belong to Luigi (The invitation can be excused by him getting bored inside the suitcase) or E. Gadd?

Showed up at the valley, he’s able to resist the lack of the dark moon’s effects. Either that, or the devs just think Polterpup is cuter without eyes.

I love Polterpup and Luigi saying, "Who the puppy?" Because of that, I say that to our beagle/dachshund mix repeatedly while giving her stomach rubs. It drives my dad crazy, though, but if it makes a dog happy, then it's worth the stress... Mainly because it isn't MY stress.
If I'm right, I think you miss the one after Luigi defeats Captain Fishook as well as after Luigi realises he is trapped in the hotel as the ghosts board up the entrance and shoo the polterpup away. I'm not sure if there are any others missing.
