I'm with you on feeling weird about making videos, I keep thinking about starting it up again but there's just something not sitting right that keeps stopping me but I can't put my finger on what. Also, FAYNE! I loved it and think it's absolutely brilliant, once you get past that first scroll which is like a tourist guide to the building, it's a brilliant story
I've been into trying all the 'zero' versions of beverages lately, so if I see the one you mentioned I will 100% try it. I've been drinking a lot of Spiced Coke Zero lately. 'Cue the Sun!' is on my list so obviously glad you enjoyed it. -Becks
This video made me want to buy books! 😂 In particular, Swimming Lessons because I loved Unsettled Ground and Bitter Orange but her most recent one doesn’t appeal to me, so going back catalogue feels right in this instance. Also I would so try that Peach coke flavor if it was out in the UK.
Reading Dune for the first time. Sci Fi has never been my thing but Denis Villeneuve is my favorite director of all time (Incendie is breathtaking) so I want to read the book(s) before watching the movies :). Great stuff in this video as usual Jill😁
Oh I’m so sad you didn’t like North Woods. I loved it but I also love interconnected short stories. I get way too excited about the way previous characters and things “drop in”. 😂 Thank you for the reminder about Cue the Sun. I was so intrigued when I heard it was coming out but then I haven’t heard anyone speak about it. So glad you enjoyed it! Wonderful to see you by the way. 😊
I am halfway through The Thursday Murder Club and I giggle constantly. I love it and I hope that the production they are making does it justice, it looks like it will, good casting. So happy that it seems the rest of the series is just as good. Will be watching this video again after work when I can focus better and jot down some titles. You always have great book recs so thank you!
Days of Abandonment was my first Ferrante and I really enjoyed it :) Please do read Fayne as I've been interested in it for a while but could not decide if I want to buy it or not. :D I'm not good with picking up and reading big books... I do need to read more Barnes this year too ☺ That cover of Glorious Exploits is really awesome and so much better than the UK one, I've just heard amazing things about this book.
I also adored Cue the Sun. Such a fun read. Constantly had to pause and tell interesting facts to my husband. Hope you are well! Sorry I'm watching this over a month late 😅 still not in the mood to make videos, but I love keeping up with my bookish pals when they feel like checking in.
Dr Pepper is my jam. Pepsi peach is basically Dr Pepper but peach instead of cherry right? That's what I'm thinking. I can't do the sugar-free sweeteners though, it makes my gallbladder act up.
North Woods was incredibly underwhelming. The stories all felt like half-formed dreams and lacked depth. I found the writing pretentious and too flowery to the point where it became funny.
The Feast has a stunning cover. Might have to check that out. Dayspring sounds interesting too. Intrigued by What I’d Rather Not Think About. I keep hearing about In Memorium. I might pick that up eventually. Swimming Lessons is good. I’d like to read more of her books. 😊💙
Fayne--thanks for reminding me. I've really want to read it and keep forgetting, as I will have to buy it as it is so hard to find in the U.S. Saw Fayne and read the flap when in Edinburgh and read The Way the Crow Flies by MacDonald years ago and still remember so much of it. She is an author I want to get back to. So, anyway, thanks. I recommend Fuller's Swimming Lessons--it is another book I can't forget. Must have been hard for you to admit you did not like North Woods since Rick loved it so much and I know you are good book buddies. Love seeing your videos, wish you did more. A Fan
Fayne was the first book I read this year. Wasn't what I expected. Not sure what I expected..lol..but I very much enjoyed it. Sometimes I get frustrated with long books because I think they could be shorter, but this one held my attention all the way through. Will be interested in your experience reading Strange Eventful History. Like that you are such an eclectic reader! Already got a couple books for my TBR from this video!
really enjoying Glorious Exploits at the moment! i thought the whole everyone speaks in Irish accents thing would get tiring but it hasn't. it is just sooo funny
You got me so dreading the Norm MacDonald book but I absolutely must read it lol Richard Osman has been on my list to read. I find him delightful and I am sure he writes delightful things
Thanks for the video and I have added The Feast to my TBR. I also just started The Rest is Entertainment podcast (I watch it on youtube on background) this year and love it. If you haven't already tried Taskmaster, Richard Osman is in series/season 2 and all 5 episodes are on youtube. It's Osman x comedy x reality tv!
Best book so far this year for me was Enter Ghost by Isabella Hammad My most anticipated book was The God of the Woods by Liz Moore Liz Moore is a favourite author. Loved it and it has been optioned for film/tv. Biggest disappointment has been Enlightenment by Sarah Perry It’s now long listed for the Booker. Books that made me happy Leading Man by Justin Meyer Just For the Summer by Abby Hemenez If you can get the audio of Glorious Exploits it’s well worth it as it’s written in Dublin accent. Greta & Valdin by Rebecca K Reilly Seamus Heaney if you can hear him read on audio is best.

I too have Seamus Heaney's "100 Poems" on my TBR. Thanks for the freakout. 🙂

Multiple five star reviews and one halfway decent one is not a bad track record so I'm still looking forward to reading it!
No no no! The peach pepsi is gross! My husband liked it. 🤨
