I have been binge watching tombstone prop videos today, and I like your design the best. We have a lot of strong winds where we are, so those flimsy insulation foam board tombstones are useless to me. Also, I loved the bases you put on yours, it just completed them and made them look so real. I made some wooden tombstones about 18 years ago with my kids, and we doubled up the plywood too, but we actually used "bendy board" or whatever it's called and made the tombstones about 4 inches thick (hollow inside) bending the board around the curves of the tombstones. This obviously would not work with intricate designs, but we just had simple rounded out tops on ours. Thank you for sharing your creativity.
Thank you for watching. I do have to tell you these three tombstones did blow over when I first put them out. I screwed in an eye ring screw in the back of the base and ran a heavy-duty camping stake through it. They didn't budge after that.
I got to say those tombstones are bitter sweet. They're a tribute to some of the greatest actors of horror but at the same time remind us that they are gone.
New subscriber here who absolutely LOOOVES your projects & tutorials…and the way in which you explain this to us!! I also happen to think you’re SUPER innovative, creative, talented, etc. Question…what kind of blade is that you’re using in your jig saw? I have a jig saw. But I always seem to have such a hard time with it. Idk if it’s the blades I’m using or the actual jig saw, which is a bit older. In fact, I’ve had that same exact Ryobi you’re using, in my Amazon cart for like a year and a half now. So I might just go ahead and buy it. But I want to make sure I’m using the right blade, which I realize is pretty self explanatory. As it tells you exactly which blade to use on different materials. I just haven’t had much luck going by these instructions. So idk if there’s some kind of hidden secret to choosing the right blade or if I’m just in need of a new jig. Either way, any advice or recommendations would be much appreciated! xo
@krissymichele thank you so much for subscribing and the kind words. We appreciate it. I use the Diablo 4in x 10 TPI HCS fine finish blades. I get them at Home Depot. I honestly dont know if I'm using the right blade, but it seems to work. I usually sand everything down after I cut it. Again thank you for subscribing and happy you are enjoying the videos. Happy Halloween 🎃
I’m going to make a bunch of these with the wall paneling that’s coming out of our den. Because it’s thinner than plywood, I’m not sure the base you made would work. Do you have any recommendations for how to secure these in the ground? Thanks!
PVC and Rebar works real well. I used them on all our static clown props last year in our Carnevil and they didn't move at all. If the tombstones are light you might be able to get away with some of those green garden stakes.
Thank you!! I think I used a gray acrylic paint as the base color then went from there. I did do a second video on how I paint the stones I make. Here is the link if you're interested: ua-cam.com/video/mV5HHZHXBFo/v-deo.html
@@halloweenatthemanor8450 ah great thanks. This video should have way more views by the way! Have you ever thought of merging this video and the painting one for a quick 2 min video time lapse type thing? With the talent you've got at making them, I think you need to milk it! Haha
@@TheGreyGardener1990 thank you for the kind words. I really appreciate it. I never thought of putting the two videos together. I think I had another tombstone painting video on the channel from 2020 and I just assumed people would get tired of seeing me paint the stones HAHA!! Thanks again.
You can use any kind of paint. If your going to be doing a lot of tombstones, go to your local Home Depot and check out their OOPs section behind the paint desk. They always have shades of gray and it's like 70-80% off. I also use paints I buy at Walmart or Michaels.
@rubenrosa8304 I attach the base to the tombstones with screws. Usually I will put a 2X2 in the front and back of the tombstone. Then if you want you can put the tombstone on a wider piece of wood say a 2X6. That give it a layered effect like a real tombstone. Next add wood screws down through the 2X2s into the 2X6. You don't technically need a base if you don't want too.
Lee, Cushing and price. Wow! Now they made some fantastic horror films. That was a great idea to put their names on. Great job, they look great. Did you watch that midnight hour, or are you saving it for Halloween? It's definitely a Halloween film as they literally have a Halloween party in the film.😂👍
I just watched the trailer for Midnight Hour and I think I saw it a long time ago. It looked familiar. Will have to see if I can find it on a streaming service.
I think the bit is the round carving bit. It might be #192. I have a hard time finding them anymore. I just used 3 inch screws to secure the stone to the base.
@@OneTrueHeart13 I just used a gray paint I found in the OPPS section in Home depot. You can use anything really. Some people use gray drylock paint to give it some more protection. However, I usually use Apple Barrel paint you get at Walmart or Michaels. I did do a second video on how I painted these if you wanted to check that out. Here is the link: ua-cam.com/video/mV5HHZHXBFo/v-deo.html
Those look great! I did plywood foam hybrid. Even though my wood was coated in drylock I still had issues. I stipped them down and did fiberglass resin and then drylock. I glued a layer fo foam and carved my names in dates in those.
