I bought the Hydrasynth a couple of years ago and I have to say it is one of the best built synths I have ever bought, it’s a truly beautiful thing and the sounds it makes range from bright digital to really dark and moody analogue and everything in-between. I think the way the control panel is laid out is so intuitive and it’s so easy to program, beautiful sounds just fall out of this thing. It’s one of my all time favourite synths and the centrepiece of my studio.
Yeah, I’m pretty blown away by it.
Still digging deep into it though.
I’ve got a lot to learn, but I am enjoying it.

I bought my Hydrasynth Desktop version 2 years ago and have never been happier. I use my MicroFreak Keyboard with it which gives me Polyphonic Aftertouch in a nice small form factor. I know the Microfreak Keyboard is not the greatest with its Buchla like Capacitive Keybed, but I am not really a keyboard player(drummer first) and laying down tracks with my Tascam Mixer/Recorder, so it works well for me.

Please explain a little more what you're doing please. I didn't think MicroFreak was MPE? I have it, not this one yet. For non-pianists, that capacitive keybed is actually really cool, especially for finger drumming or really fast movements because there is zero delay because there is zero motion, it's instant. Have you done the latest firmware update to use samples and synth engines?

I have my MicroFreak connected to my Hydrasynth via the 5 Pin Midi connector. The Hydrasynth is set to receive the Polyphonic Aftertouch via MIDI. The Microfreak sends the full Polyphonic Aftertouch out via the MIDI Connector. It works perfectly
I was one of the first owners of the Hydra when it first came out, and I've been in love with it since. First thing I said was holy sh*T! its built like a tank!😂 It was also my first EVER synth followed by the Subsequent 37. Hope you enjoy it man, love your channel!!✌🎹🎛🔥🔥

I like that you can select different waves to build your own tables. And the way the mod matrix works on it.
I've played on an explorer. Hydra sounds great. I almost got one a couple times. Maybe I'll end up with one too.
The knobs feel solid on this synth. Poly at of course is awesome. But the ribbon has got to make playing on it more fun.

I’d go with this. It’s pretty cool. I’m starting to really get into it.
The only thing that is holding me back is that it’s not multitimbral. Even an Access Virus is multitimbral. We are paying more for less. Otherwise awesome gear but I will pass. Great video and channel.
Used virus will cost about the same as a hydrasynth deluxe plus a drum machine

at least 4 parts multitinbral should be standard in 2024, anyway that’s just my beef, for this reason I cannit justify it (I already have too much gear so I have to be picky)
@@andybond5002 seems like a very minor gripe to have. I for one find multi-timbrality to be completely overrated. But you say you have too much gear so let's check out your channel and see: "This channel doesn't have any content" oh ... you don't really have any gear do you? Are you a marketing agent working for a competing synth company? I am not accusing you of anything, just curious. 🙂
@@teddybearasaurus Hydrsynth Deluxe is going for for $1799, new. I just ordered my first Virus TI2 for $1700 on Reverb, due here tomorrow. (Desktop version) .. Could have picked the TI 1 Polar (keyboard) for $1600 ... So it's not THAT expensive unless you get the full sized keyboard TI2 version.
