- Edited by Alan Kelley. The director had set up 5 cameras, they did three takes, moving the positions of the cameras for each take so that it became like a 15 camera shoot. Luckily in the Avid editing program, you can sync all 15 takes and preview them on one screen and see nine of them at once, push a button and see the other 6 takes, so it took only 2 days to edit.
Who is listening to this work of art in 2024?
JT deserves the career he's had because he's so talented but I'm so sad to see that JC didn't get recognition until recently. Every nsync live performance, I click on the comments are all about JC. He deserved so much more than what he got.
I'm afraid he was a victim of politics. Office politics. He was on the same record label as Justin. The record company promoted Justin more which is sad but for some reason they thought he would sell more records. Even though one can argue JC had better vocals I think of it as maybe like the prettiest girl or most talented girl may not be the most popular. Sometimes people have a certain or unique quality that may stand out. I think why couldn't they both become superstars but I guess that's not how it goes and who decides? Anyway I saw a video about this once.

I feel the reason JC was the holdout all this years was because of the BS they put him through with the lack of promoting Schizophrenic and basically holding The Story of Kate hostage. They did JC dirty. Glad that Jive no longer exists. I always advocated for JC, was even hateful towards JT after the whole Nipplegate fiasco that basically made JCs Pro Bowl appearance change the tone and JC stood by his song and said fuck it. He changed the song and then they wanted to play it safe b/c of what JT. Glad to know people are realizing how multi talented this man really is

If you learn to sing and dance at the same time it isn’t that hard. But it is probably one of the hardest things to learn how to control both the moves and singing.

JC has the best voice in the group. Justin was destined to have the career he has, but JC deserved much more.
JC was the best at not ever losing his breath though and dancing and singing because although Justin's dancing was more precise JC definitely moved more and exaggerated every little move and obviously was the best singer.
I think Justin is the better singer.

Carson Tucker I agree, JC was the better singer, he has more control and a greater range. It's funny you say that because JC was known for being precise yet energetic in his dance movements, which I think he is here. He dances with a lot of emotion. This song has a slightly angry undercurrent and that's what he's bringing across in his dancing IMO. Interestingly enough at the VMA "reunion" a couple years ago, he still brought that emotion to the dancing for this song. He was slamming that stage for the "bye bye bye's". :)
Carson Tucker JC actually started out as a dancer before he became a singer so maybe that has something to do with it. I hear some people say JC was the better dancer and I hear some people say Justin was the better dancer. I'm not really sure, I'm a terrible dance judge. I just know Lance was by far the worst lol. But yeah Justin even admitted JC was the best singer. Lance had JC be his wedding singer I think earlier this year. And he said he picked JC because "he has the best voice I've ever heard in my entire life".

Lance too. His bass really gives this song such a strong foundation. You don't think about it 'cause you have so many other harmonies happening on top of him but, his low notes really power the rhythm of this song, in particular. (It's really him going up an octave that gives the chorus that kick up when they sing "just another player in your game for two"). The combination of Lance at the bottom of the harmonies and Chris at the top was so important to create NSYNC's distinctive sound.

Chris's high harmony is so underated. The end when he's singing! "I don't wanna make it tough but I've had enough". It really brings a sense of drama to the ending of the song. Especially in their HBO special.

I‘ve seen a lot of Bye Bye Bye videos so far and finally I got to hear Lance’s super low pitch in this video, which completes the song a perfect harmony. Love it.
I pay attention to JC's every dance step and his voice is perfect in my opinion, whether in the studio or at an open concert, JC always looks perfect, both his voice and his dance moves 🔥💯❤️

So what happened here. The director brought me the raw footage to edit. What you're hearing is the live mix. The final audio mix hadn't been done yet. Then after the director approved the edit, I sent it to Sony in NY for finishing. But they didn't know how to switch from non-drop to drop frame, which is an easy fix, so they just broadcast a single camera shot instead. This edit was never broadcast and never given a final mix. You hear them talking before and after. All that gives this mix its warm human feel would've been cut out and homogenized.
Seeing this is what made me realize they weren't some lip syncing, overproduced Milli-Vanilli product that got lucky with songwriters. Too late in the game I have sincere awe at the work and talent and drive it must have taken to do the things they have done. Much respect to these guys and thanks for letting me in on the fact that I have actually been seeing legitimate talent all these years.
