I basically bought two yahama rydeen kits for a low low price of like 300 and I unwrapped and stained and glossed them. But I'm still having trouble finding the rights heads for them. What would you recommend for the good poplar sound? I have coated heads on them but still it's kinda rough right now.
My go to heads for any poplar drumset is either the Remo Pinstripe Clear , or the Evan's EC2 Clear, I feel like the two ply head gives cheaper drums a rounder fuller sound versus a 1 ply 10mm head! Happy Drumming!!!

PanchoPlant I like Remo Emperor (clear or coated) on top and Remo Ambassador clear on bottom.

in this category decide everything drumheads and tuning. Also does matter quality of hardware.
All sets from Yamaha and Pearl is good enough.

It is immediately felt that the drum kit is entry-level, there are no rich overtones on the toms. The drummer's playing is very professional
