Was just there 2 weeks in Greece. Spent 7 days on mainland Greece and 4 days on Rodos Island at a yoga retreat. I loved all of it. 🏜️🥰

Sounds wonderful! We thought about Rhodes, but opted for a few islands that are a bit closer by ferry this time. Hopefully we'll get back again one day to explore more islands!

The Parthenon is spectacular but my favorite building in the Acropolis is the Erictheum (sp?). The caryatid (female figure) columns are unlike any other in the world. Thanks for including a few shots of it Laura, really enjoyed this video. Yes, I studied Architecture in college :) !

So cool! I also loved the Caryatid columns, they were incredible, especially to see them up close at the Acropolis Museum. I'm so glad you enjoyed the video, thanks for taking the time to comment John!

Great video about Athens. To all the viewers my experience says that the best time and day to visit Parthenon is early on Sunday morning just after the ceremony of the Evzones raising the Greek flag on the sacred rock. That particular day and hour are very few people visiting it. And if you don’t stay too long you can head through Dionysous Areopagus street to Queen Emily’s str that leads to Syntagma Square and watch out also the Grand ceremonial parade and change of the Guards at the tomb of Unknown soldier under the parliament. Two birds with one stone.
I should also point out that with a very small fee you can take a bus or a train and visit a beach on the Athens Riviera and take a bath in the sea. There are free beaches and private ones with umbrellas and sezlongs with a ticket or if you place an order over a certain amount of money. So you can combine the visit with leisure in the sea. That will help further to digest those delicious Greeks souvlakia and burn them out completely 😝😝😝😝.

Professional, informative and personable ... wonderful destination with overwhelming sense of history, didn't realize how crowded it gets ... great looking food ... left me "peckish". P.S. I'm only here for the interesting, high quality, spirited travel vlogging, wherever that takes you. LOL 👍👍

🤣 Thanks I'm appreciative that you enjoy the vlogs and for your kind words. I didn't realize how crowded it would be either, but it didn't take away from the magic to be honest!

Great video. I am planning to visit Europe and Greece is very high on my list. Thanks for slowly pronouncing these Greek names. I may have a chance to repeat them correctly.

    • @laura-bronner
      @laura-bronner  2 роки тому

haha I wouldn't rely heavily on me for Greek pronunciation, I did my best but I think I pronounce everything like it's Spanish 😅 But I hope you have a blast when you visit, the Greeks are SO kind and hospitable, so a bit of bad pronunciation won't be a problem.

Hello....I liked your review of Athens, as it is very descriptive for a short segment. I would only add Piraeus into your video, as most people will stay in Athens, then leave out of Piraeus to the Cyclades. Some helpful hints would be how far the the port is from Athens, how best to get there from Athens, and navigating their way to the berth they need to board. Other than that, I enjoyed your review!

Athens is known to be the birthplace of democracy and the idea that all citizens should have a voice in governing their society. Athens also houses many historic landmarks, such as temples and theatres, which were made by ancient architects during the Classical period.

Had a nice time there! It’s free entrance for all EU members up to 25 (tourist sites will never say this, we were close to buy 2 but just needed 1 in practice) so got in for free. Also happen to accidentally get into a group which had skip the line tickets but they never checked us so😂 Was very nice, we were there at opening time and the queues immediately were crazy. Luckily we got in before and had some 20min before all the rest came inside, then it became way too crowded and warm. Nice experience however!

Thank you SO MUCH for this wonderful video on things to see and do in Athens! It was VERY informative and I can’t wait to use your suggestions this Fall when we visit Athens and other Greek locales…we even have a stop in Turkey on our cruise. I DO have one suggestion (me, being the product of a professional photographer and married to a former newspaper editor!). Hold your camera as steady as possible while panning…an example is when you visited the site of the first, modern Olympic games. You had the camera facing you and the movement of the arena with you in the foreground was kinda distracting and made me dizzy! Hold still while focusing with you in the center of the screen. THEN, reverse the image to pan the arena. No dizziness and an extra beautiful video scene! Please, this is NOT to criticize you, just a little “professional” (🤭) insight offered! Thank you so much again for a lovely and very informative video of Athens!

Hey, but its a dry heat! Have not followed for a while but Greece caught my attention as I did the backpacking thing back in my 20's , some forty years ago. I have not seen you talk about siesta, is that still a thing ? Hated it at first, but came to love it and think it would solve most of the worlds problems. Anyway, minor crush and major inspire. Side note: 61 and just finished a 22 day crossing of an ocean via sailboat. Note 2: love the length of your videos very doable!

Very nice video of Athens, I am preparing for our trip there later this year. One thing I never see mentioned in videos are public restrooms. Did you find them nearby the various ruins. Anything a person should prepare for. I know some European countries have some interesting issues with restrooms for the public, some have hardly any.

That’s a great question! There are toilets inside all of the archeological sites but the other ones I know of are in the National garden and another near the Acropolis ticket office.

I would argue that it’s more spectacular than the new out of place Acropolis museum.

@@jacquelinemcmanus3495 it’s the second most important sight outside the Acropolis/agora and yes better than the Acropolis museum …it should be better promoted with signage/ tourist promotions
