Hey Ross, job well done glad you got it home in one piece. Question is that corn head a wide or narrow?
I’ve been meaning to measure it to see what it said on. I hope it’s set on 30 inches but it might be 36.
Here lately due to the poor fuel and rust issues if i have room, i mount a spin on base and filter. Like the ones on a storage tank. Takes a lot rust fill one of those up.🤣
That’s not a bad idea but I’m hoping eventually this will clean up enough that I can just put it back the way it supposed to be.
Now you have a combine for corn beans &wheat.one for every crop also maybe a new snout for your other corn head.it would be cool to see them all running together in a wheat field just like out west
That would be neat to see. I’m hoping to at least have two out of three ready to go for the fall.
The Spill-Proof System Gasoline can isn't very spill proof lol
That’s proof that the government can even ruin a gas can 🤣
One of the most underestimated engines ever made. LA 318! Not used to seeing it painted green. In the old Dodge trucks they were blue.
It’s pretty tough!
At least it didn't die on the road!!!
Thanks Don! I was worried there for a minute that it might. But I was close enough to home I could’ve just pulled it
I have run gas and diesel 7300s and the 318 is joke for a combine engine piss poor electrical as in distributor and governor and performance
I have run one with each motor and I can’t complain about the 318 except for the governor like you said. They can be finicky sometimes. I think it has a lot to do with the fact that the machine sits most of the year and everything is kind of gummed up.
That's a awesome machine man, I'm excited to be getting equipment, thanks for the video
Thanks Kevin!
Closed captions calls you "Rusty Oliver man". Seems appropriate.
I’ve been called worse 🤣🤣🤣
Ross what giong on with your Oliver 7300 combine
It’s still here. Need to get back to it
Awesome you got her home! A man can’t have too many combines…right?
That’s right 🤣🤣🤣 Thanks Cory!
Thats a really neat Combine, I enjoyed the "Ride along"! I have always kind of wanted a combine, but I don't want a combine because they are so finicky and extensive to maintain compared to tractors. I don't have anything to combine of my own anyway, so it would just be an oversized toy that flushes money.
A combine as one of those things that it’s hard to collect because it takes up so much space and it has so many things to go wrong. But I like to save them because too many people are crunching them up in demo derby‘s
Nothing better than a good neighbor!
Agree!!
I went to the 2017 show so i saw it.
Cool!
Glad you got it home. When I bought my JD 4400 combine about 6 years ago, it was about 20 miles away from my farm. I was looking for someone with a set up like the one you used to haul it. My mechanic friend Joe and his sons told me to buy a 30 pack of barley pops and make an afternoon of it driving it home. As tempting as that was, my brother in law was able to arrange the proper transportation for me. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Yeah, it crossed my mind try to drive it but I knew that would be a whole can of worms with some thing that has been sitting for so long. I really didn’t wanna have to try to figure out transportation by the side of the highway 🤣
We bought a 7700 rwa in Illinois and had wheat ready and couldn't find anyone who could hall it closes was about 6 days out so we drove it and we live in north central mo. We drove straight through only stopped to eat and get fuel took 2 days
@@scottjaecques7409 Wow - that was some trip! 👍👍👍👍
@@pagrainfarmer lol it sucked half way home we wished we would of waited to get it hauled
Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for watching!
Boy that was a close call. I thought she was going to die on the road. Glad you got her home.
Thanks! I’m glad it didn’t quit on the road either 🤣🤣🤣
Does that dog have a name
Buddy
thank goodness for neighbors
Look forward to seeing it at work this fall.
Thanks Meryl!
You need to name this machine Frank. Drink a stein of your favorite bew in the cab, and it'll be Frank 'n stein. 'Cause it's a monster!
That’s a good idea 🤣🤣🤣
When I had the plows lined up near my shop and people would be out there, they would ask if I was having an auction. At least they weren't visible from the road.
I just got home from a plow day. We got 3-4 inches of slush in about 6 hours this afternoon down here....😂
At least I know that my neighbors are worried about me. Any move I make they have to know what’s wrong 🤣
It's always fun to give people something to talk about.
Good deal! I almost bought a 7300 but it was 3 hours away and trucking would have been too much money. I settled for a 7700 jd that was right down the road that needs engine work thou. Still wish I could've bought the 7300 pretty sure it went to scrap.
That’s sad, but I understand. I’ve had to pass up on some really good deals because the shipping was more than the item 😭
Great Ross! Now I can start pestering you about the 6rn corn planter🤣🤣 Are you going to show us how the roof turned out? I drove my 6620 John Deere 30 miles home in Feb many years ago, and it had a 216 flex head on it. My first stop was at the truck stop across the road for winter fuel, I was 5 miles from home when I had a minor fuel hiccup, and the tie rod end broke off when I was trying to park the head out of the way. I think I did pretty good on that trip👍🤣🤣 When I bought my big tractors a 1066 and 1086, I think it was 40 miles plus I drove them no exitment with them tho.
Thanks Adam! I definitely need pushing to get to that six row planter, I thought of that the other day 🤣 The roof will be in other videos a little bit. I’m kind of self-conscious about my old buildings so I don’t know how much I want to show 🤣
You gotta add that stack your burning the paint off or sooting it up.... sounds like bad gas... fresh gas and some seafoam.... thought I was gonna see another 1365 video...
Yeah, an exhaust end is on my shopping list next time I’m in town!
I finally figured out the spark issue on my Oliver 60. The contact points in the distributor were not properly aligned. One was higher than the other. That being said, the tractor is still not running. I haven't messed with it a lot since then but I'll give it another try sometime soon. Thanks for sharing the video with us!
Your welcome! I hope what I said made sense so that maybe you can get yours going
Another good video. Do you know why White implements were painted red and not Silver of Ouver green?
I’m not really sure on that. I have a feeling it has something to do with the fact that Minneapolis Moline implements were red. They were the ones who threw the tantrum and wanted things not to be green so maybe they got their way on the implements.
Wow it was clean back in 2017... do you know why it was neglected since?
He was just a collector not a farmer. So he didn’t have any real reason to move it.
We sold a 7300 and got it from another dealer 60 miles away. We roaded it back to our dealership and broke the long drive belt 2 times. It was because of the anti-belt flapper that every time the combine would come under pull that monkey jack mechanism would take the slack. Then the belt would be stretched a little and the slack device would tighten up even more, Then the belt would break and a radio call was issued and we would have the machine ready to install the belt. Quite a pain in the donkey, especially the 2nd time in one day and along side the road. Needless to say, we deleted all of the stupid devices. We usually had a wire rigged so we could pull the governor more open when we moved one any distance.
That’s exactly why I didn’t try to drive it because I knew those old belts wouldn’t stay on the task. 🤣
Oh man am i ever glad you were able to get that cream puff home. I was afraid we would see a video of it getting hauled off for scrap because you weren't able to get it moved. That is a really great looking combine for it's age.
I was trying everything in my power to keep that from happening. Plus I already paid for it so there was no way I was gonna lose my 600 bucks 🤣
I have a running exact twin to that machine stored in side in case you need another one 😂
Cool!
I don’t see a hill come to North Carolina we got hills y’all couldn’t go snow sleding
I’d hate to think how many bones I’d break sliding down a hill 🤣🤣🤣
I'm glad you made it home with it safe and sound ! I hope you're able to get it all lined out running like a champ for this Fall . I'm like you and wouldn't like to take my tractors very far from home . I would like to get a one row picker and an All Crop combine to harvest my small amount of crops I want to plant . I would like to plant an acre of each corn and beans. It's something fun for me to do with the kids and preserve some old farm equipment . Thanks for sharing and have a great weekend !
That would be great to plant a little bit of something with old equipment. You could have all the fun without a lot of the trouble 🤣
You were driving on the wrong side of the road lol been looking forward to this video I think it will be a good combine
Thanks John! I think it’ll be pretty nice with a little bit of effort
Congrats ! Glad you got the ole girl home ! Now you can work on her when ever you have time .
Yup. Now we just need to get 27 hours in the day so I have time to work on it 🤣
Some plugs n points , clean gas tank , grease , and boom baby u gotta a great cumbine
Thanks Scott! I think so too
Hope to see it picking corn this fall, great video as always, with laughs and happy times, glad you got him home
Thanks Doug! I hope to make a few laps with it anyway!
Sure glad you got it home safely Ross. Nice looking machine. 👍👍
Thanks Tom! It seems to be a pretty good one so far
Yayy glad you got it home safely. Is the bus one you drive, or do you own it?
The school owns them. I just drive one and I am their mechanic.
This is great!!!! What’s the serial number on it? Did you see my combine it the newest HOPCA? Eli
I saw yours in the magazine. Let’s see videos of it being restored!
@@rosstheoliverman I am having email issues. It’s fine though. It haven’t moved in a while… and I have surgery on my hand here in just a few hours today. So there has bean many obstacles eli
You must have the magic touch at finding cheaper good equipment. Everything near me is outrageous.
Sometimes you get lucky and other times I have to fight other collectors. It’s annoying sometimes 🤣
@@rosstheoliverman hopefully I can find an oliver 550 or something someday. There’s one near me but they want 3000 for it but it doesn’t run or anything.
"Maybe there's other problems" 🤣
There’s always other problems 🤣
Well, that went just about as expected.😉
At least you don’t have to worry. You know when you start to do something around here there’s going to be problems 🤣
What year is your combine?
I’m not exactly sure. I would guess early 70’s.
More Oliver combine vido good job
Thanks John! There will be more!
Glad to see vidio
I wish I could find one of those
They’re still out there. Just keep looking.
Nice to see Old iron running again
Thanks John!!!
A zipper Ross??! Sure, I believe ya. 😂
It really was I promise 🤣🤣🤣
@@rosstheoliverman 😆
Good to see it home and saved.
Thanks Paul! I’m glad I finally got it home.
Pretty cool Ross
Thanks Shawn!
👍👍👍👍
Thanks Paul!
Nice that you got the combined home without any incidents. Now you got another project to work on 😅 thanks Michael
Thanks Michael! There’s plenty stuff to do on it so it’ll keep me busy for sure!
farm dog approved
The dog rated it 10 tail wags
He’s seen a lot of old iron come down the driveway for sure 🤣
