The last time I opened a pack of Pokemon cards was literally back in the year 2000, when Team Rocket was the newest set. Pulling ANY holo-foil card back then was an extremely big deal, and ALL of them had value (and still do!), so it's absolutely WILD to me to see people pulling foil cards left and right and just tossing them aside as if they're nothing. I know, they're more common in these new sets, and not worth as much money, but I feel like people that are just starting out in this hobby will never get to feel that "magic" of pulling their first holo-foil card and having it guaranteed be something truly unique and valuable, simply due to the fact that it was a holo-foil and nothing else. Back then, Holo-Foil = Guaranteed Innate Value, and I kinda miss those times.
Oh my goodness, I have the same thought! I miss when packs were a random chance of being a holographic card, and there was a genuine surprise when one was pulled. There are a lot of holographic cards that have some gorgeous artwork, and even the smaller cards have gorgeous artwork. I see UA-camrs just ignoring all these, and only going after the best of the best. I still have some of my older holographic cards, and they're some of the coolest cards I have! :)

It does make the chase and thrill of these bigger pulls a lil more hype when a foil means so little these days but for those only buying a few packs its unfortunate when I cant get as excited for a holo pull! Espcially if its all I get haha. Glad to be able to love and enjoy the artworks tho

What’s REALLY MESSED UP is Rev and many others will pull the holo variants from before Scarlet & Violet when they still counted as pulls, and just be like “meh”. His last Sun & Moon video he did he said “I only got 6 pulls…” which was a complete lie because holos count as pulls and when counting the 5 he got of those, he got 12 hits (he actually miscounted as well and got 7. So 7+5=12). 12 or 33% roughly has been the standard since base set launched so I’m not sure what he expected, lol. That ticks me off more than people not caring about holos in Scarlet & Violet. While it sucks that holos don’t mean much anymore, it was done to make room for the much better art we have gotten this era, so we still get the same 10-14 pulls per box swing as we always have, it’s just we aren’t counting normal holos in that number anymore. I still remember my first pull back on January 31st, 1999 Venasaur pack, it was my FIRST PACK MY MOM BOUGHT/SHE PICKED OUT as she had “a feeling”; and I pulled a First Edition Zard; which I still have to this day as well (PSA 9). I knew back then I’d never play with it (partially because it was and still is sentimental due to my mom picking it); and waited about 3 weeks before I got another one form my LCS for $35.00, lmao. They were going for around $50.00 at that point so I got a nice discount as I helped clean the store a few times and beat the owner in a best of 3. I completely trashed that second one, lmfao!

I have to say…a lot of the cards in surging sparks that ARENT combined art cards definitely can/should be solely based on perspective alone. Examples: Sunnyform Castform card Phanphy card Look how these cards are…there’s gotta be more cards coming that will align with these 2 there are others as well. Great set, combined art cards are gonna be seen more and more I know it

Wowsers. Rev you breezed passed the Magnaton man, but that card is really special! The illustrator only has three other SIR cards one of them being the Magikarp that everyone wants, another being the Giratina V which has taken off lately also! That one card could skyrocket in price just the same way and be more valuable than your pikachu hunt for sure. And you pulled MULTIPLE! Keep it, grade it and watch this space. The illustrators name is Shinji Kanda.

The Difference is they add like 50+ cards to the secret rare list, so there's just way too many cards above holo in rarity. Blame Gamefreak
