Lovely , genuine review of such a heart warming , atmospheric show:).... The acting is excellent , and the writing and directing is just top notch. The way moments are given space is so refreshing and how the simple characters interact brings to life real moments of comedy. Quality all over ... Well done UK for another quite classic :) !
The British make tv programs that put EVERYONE else to shame. Great comedies like Detectorists. Mum, Peter Kay's Car Share, Cradle to Grave, and on and on. Also the Mini Series that produce are amazing!!
great review man ,love the smile when you were describing the funny bits, great to see one of best shows of recent years is appreciated in the USA,hope they do a third series of this gem.
thanks. i'm in Canada actually & I just finished Season 2. Loved it just as much as the first. I hope there are a few more seasons too. My other favourite British shows are Black Books & One foot in the grave - have you seen those?
nice, easy-going, review of the series. A couple of thoughts: The Brits and Canadians (I'm guessing you're one of our northern neighbors as evidenced by your accent) do some of the best stuff available on the tube. In the case of the Brits this is clearly one of their best. In the case of the Canadians, Trailer Park Boys (in the early seasons) was very fun to watch - later seasons, not so much - but what the hell, eh. I would like to have seen you do a shout-out to the theme song which really fit in with the overall theme of the show.
It was wonderful 3 series of viewing pleasure about hobbyists doing very little and yes the vicissitudes of small lives, not the overblown drama of "celebrity" culture. I believe Mackenzie Crook has now said that he is done with writing the show so like a small trove of treasure this needs to be seen and admired for what it is.
It's a *GREAT* TV programme, Not the smoothest review I've ever seen - but It's evident your appreciation of it mirrors my own. I hope you enjoy the rest of it too.
Cool to know that such a gentle, understated (and very English) show, is appreciated across the pond... :-)

This is the best show I have ever watched in my 58 years of living! I am serious. I can't wait for season 3. Mr. Crook is a genius. Nice review.
So so good. I love it! Great that it is appreciated over there in North America. Thanks for reviewing my favourite British series.
