Breaks my creative blocks. Makes me think in colors. Somehow it gives clarity to things in my head that get jumbled, as if it trivializes my confusion. It reminds me of how there is order in chaos. I love feeling in control of being out of control.
trivialize my confusion: what an apt and beautiful sentiment
best band in the universe
+federicomenjurje indeed.
+federicomenjurje And Multiversums too.
Your comment reminds me of 15:55 in the Melt Banana album “Charlie” :D
Erik Piper Whose comment ?
Absolutely legendary. They never fail to make me smile.
That is a great way to describe this band. I'm usually a heavy prog and metal guy, but this band always makes me smile. They are truly fun to listen to, yet there is something "progressive" in their sound. There are threads of King Crimson in their music, combined with raw punk energy.
I love Deerhoof! Seen them live so many times, always excellent! Some how I came up on an autographed Zach Hill & the Holy Smokes book signed and dedicated to Greg from ‘the hoof’. Best find ever.
dude WHAT holy moly
Zach Hill and Greg did a project together called Nervous Cop. The first incarnation also had Joanna Newsom involved somehow.
Her voice is the best I've ever heard, it really cuts through, and it sounds majestic.
+NoTolerance ForBullshit - I always thought her voice was kind of weak, but put up with it because the band is otherwise so awesome. But on La Isla Bonita her singing has improved exponentially; this portends well for future records and performances.
Deerhoof are probably my most favourite band for being slightly different to the norm. Very tight live if you ever have the fortune to see live
I like it. reminds me of Sonic Youth more than a little but better playing all around and this bass player/vocalist is something else. I'm really digging her thing. Drummer is killing it too! Always happy to find a new tea for the cup.
I love that all the players in the band just be themselves.
love the way she dances!
I love Deerhoof!! Quickly becoming one of my favorite bands. I buy everything they release.
Deerhoof are absolutely incredible. Only now did I learn Satomi can play drums as well! What incredible musicianship they've got there.
favourite band. for me it's all about Mirror Monster 17:05. beautiful!
Seen them live three times.
All three shows are in my top ten live shows ever.
There is a lot of love in this music. :)
Probably the best band I’ve seen live
Probably the best band ever.
Cool to see Greg and Satomi switch instruments but also amazing how it immediately sounds like a completely different band without Greg's insane drumming.
Still a great band though.
Every song played in this video fucking SLAYS.
Wow, Satomi killing it on the drums in the last track? Every little thing blows me away, just one thing I chose to comment on.
Such a great snapshot of their la isla Bonita era.. Thank you!
Way too good for the VMA's. They are my private pleasure, I don't care who don't get there music. They are my band.
this is my first time listening. I listen to all kinds of stuff, usually heavier stuff, instrumental like Pelican. This band is wildly creative and they have a great sense of time and how to make discordance really hook-laden and pleasant. Amazing. I get it man.
there's nothing to ''get''. get it?
Deerhoof is a legit affront at what inspired musicians can achieve when out and about. #burnTheBox
eastlake93 Me too. But I’m not private with my fellow musicians on this band. They’re doing freakin awesome shit. And I love how they grow.
If anybody gets to know me to an even shallow extent will get this band foisted upon them at some point.
best video on UA-cam
I'm going to see them in P-town July 7; taking my brother who's never seen them before, but he's a drummer so he should enjoy Greg.
Zappa once said that jazz was not dead but just smells funny. From Frank that was a compliment; the funniest smelling jazz of the day was his favorite (Dolphy). Well, rock is not dead, but it smells funny. In a great way.
Glad to see the connection appreciated by others.
Deerhoof are pure joy.
remind me of captain beefheart, amazing! 🔥
killer, as usual.
I feel more human listening to DH
+Jim Giddens I was the first ones. They began 1994.
The video to show people who have never heard of Deerhoof.
agreed
Satomi and St. Vincent should have a dance off some day.

Juan Pablo Torres
Satomi would definetly win
Great drummer....Not usually into weird avanti garde stuff but I like this band.
Incredible coordinated chaos. My new favorite band!
too many choice to order breakfast
+xlysabj love that line
So much better than all those boring mono music videos they have on UA-cam now
what is that amazing pink guitar he's rocking?
If you watch their rig rundown on Premier Guitar's channel he talks about it briefly. Its something he put together himself with parts from different guitars
best part was the dance at the beginning of there's that grin :)
yess xd
why am i just finding this band? so noice.
I'd love to see a Deerhoof/Flaming Lips show! Make it happen!
The toured with them before.
Please tour Durham, NC soon!
that would be so cool. Not going to lie though, usually bands like this end up going to Haw River Ballroom or Asheville instead. But at home would be nice.
Deerhoof is the shit.
Is that compliment ? I hope so.
This is fucking awesome
the most fun
thank you
8:22 that's me when I go to the pub in the morning
My friend told me about the worst band ever.Well, I stopped listening to rock music 10 years ago, so boring. Why haven't I notice this awesome band?
Oh man mainstream rock music is dead but the alternative underground indie scene is booming I wouldn't be surprised if we see another uprising if you like this check out these guys

+mariorossipuzza Paradise Girls
+mariorossipuzza Paradise girls.
Is this actually a live performance? Interesting presentation.
I didn't think they were miming; I'm convinced they were filmed actually playing. It just doesn't look like they're together. Like I said, interesting presentation.
You can find a ton of their concerts online. This sounds like one of them and not the albums.
They're pushing and pulling very naturally together. It would be impractical to try to get that kind of fluidity tracking separately. It looks like they're probably all in the same room with just enough space between them for 4 distinct camera framings.
The most uncomfortable experience of my life
You live a far too sheltered life.
This is the shit!!!!!
Yoko with Paul's bass.
Deerhoof is amazing as always, but this video is unbearable for watching Boiler room!!!
what language is she singing in? I am hear to see what this band is about, they did a right rundown for Premier Guitar and that was the first video I had to turn off. sorry the music is kind of interesting and experimental but I can't understand one word of what she is singing.
Do you need to be high listening to this? If that's the case then I get it. oh well, I am out of here. akk.
Some parts in English, some parts in her native Japanese.
I think all the songs here are in English. She does do Japanese on a few songs (mostly on the Green Cosmic EP) and even Catalian on one song. Honestly, the lyrics are not great but it's just part of the mood.
Who cares if you can't understand the lyrics? I can't understand Damo Suzuki on certain Can songs, I can't understand Mark E Smith on certain Fall songs but I don't need to cause they are very expressive just like Satomi. God what a dumb fucking reason to not like a band 😒
Ingurishu.
What is this? I'm so confused. What is the meaning of these sounds?
