Would like to see variations of passing from HQ from those such as Rodolpho Viera. A good discussion/video about whether going through the middle (HQ/leg trap), vs going around the body. Thanks
@@mhanif8816 I agree, would love to see when and how to chain tecjniques and work from HQ like the AOJ athletes and also would love to hear sbout outside/far distance passing and HQ/medium distance.
@@mhanif8816 Definitely plan on making videos on Rodolfo and about the passing concept you mentioned. Might be a while before I get around to it, but stay tuned!
youre so awesome, another amazing breakdown!! this is so helpful and I really appreciate you passing us your knowledge and the amount of work and effort you put into each video, please keep it up! and would love to see another Tainan breakdown🙏
Thank you for the kind comments 🙏definitely motivates me knowing people benefit from watching! Currently working on some Gordon videos but more on Tainan to come after!
@@DeepDiveJJ in Australia of all places haha. He did an exhibition match down here and while he was here he took a few seminars. Was lucky enough to go, definitely recommend if you ever get the chance. Great teaching style and super chill guy.
Really well done. Ive gratitated towards nogi and am getting back into jiujitsu after a year off. I really want to sharpen my gi passing and also gravitated toward leg pinning, so this is useful.😊
Thanks a lot! How would you say he combines his legtrap with his HQ/long step? When does he prefer which action? As if you are able to pin the far leg he can choose to go HQ or go for the leg trap it seems?
Hmmm now this is me rambling and going off the top but if Tainan is able to pin that far leg, it wouldn't always make sense or be possible to go to HQ since he may be too far away (if hes entering from far distance i.e. the torreando pass) from the guard player. So from far distance it might go like this - Torreando -> Leg Trap. Check out the clips in this video against Jeferson Guaresi for examples of that. Now if he is passing from medium distance (his usual passing style) It makes alot more sense for him to enter the leg trap from HQ. Sometimes off of the leg weave from HQ as he pins the far leg because the guard player is forced to suck their non pinned leg in as frame, which then gives Tainan the chance to get to trap the leg. So a great way to enter the leg trap can go like this, HQ -> Leg Weave -> Leg Trap can be a great way to get to the position. That clip of him passing Murasaki is a great example of that. Hope I clarified stuff a bit for you!
@@DeepDiveJJ Yeah I came to the same conclusion that HQ -> Leg Weave -> Leg Trap is looking like his 'perfect scenario' or at least a good way of drilling all the control positions. Now need to figure out when/how he makes the descision to go Long step or when he goes Leg trap so going to need to look at some additional footage to see him chain these and when

I just did a seminar with him a week ago where he taught the concepts of this style of passing and your breakdown was pretty spot on. Nice work man.
Where was his seminar?! I’ve been dying to go to one of his 😭

Thank you so much man. Appreciate all the details. Maybe you can get the latest x guard masterclass of tainan as well.
I actually have that one. Still trying to get through that myself. So much content to go through. Pure gold though!
Not enough people watch Tainan man. I think all the pure no gi guys are really missing out
@@DeepDiveJJ true, trying to finish it as well, but its so good!
@@danielhuldai5303 I have too many instructionals and not enough time 🤣
its interesting how he places his hand on the outside of the leg, versus the inside
You mean his leg trapping hand?
Could you do leg weave ! Or focus more on when he switches sides and when he keeps driving the same side.
Stay tuned! There’ll def be more of him to come!
great work!
Nice video man 👏👏👏
Thanks Ari! Appreciate it 🙏

I see the guard pass Stuart by Gui and dont get so much details like This video.
Haha thanks. I love his videos though
what grips does he take for his standard longstep from HQ ?
collar / pant grip i believe. I really want to get his long step instructional too. Just too broke at the moment 😫
