Makes no sense to me that an 80k truck before, or after the AEV treatment doesn't come with a factory bed liner. Also, the lack of a locking rear or front diff is bewildering for that price.
@@SrAMagistradoit’s not for posers. You just can’t afford it just like me. You don’t need the locking. You really don’t. ^ previous comment. Quite a few people trading in their smaller vehicles for these. It’s becoming a pattern. You don’t need that tiny jeep or whatever you use on 99% of trails. Trust me I love my 4 runner but my next move is this direction.
Dodge used the name ram in their truck line. I still call the Dodge too. Same- Same. But I prefer the name Dodge. They were originally the Dodge brothers. I liked their cars , trucks & SUV’s too. Plymouth made version of most of their vehicles too. Those were some great days!
I’m not even exaggerating when I say this but that is the best looking truck I’ve ever seen. It would likely be my first purchase if I ever win the lottery
The cool thing is you can alacarte the AEV parts for any Ram you want. I’ve had the AEV suspension, wheels/tires put in before delivery on a truck before and it rides and drives same as a Prospector, but without the added cost of bumpers, embroidered seats, etc.
It ain't always fun unless you really need it for towing. Most people will never know that you need 15quarts of motor oil and change fuel filters routinely and hopefully your turbo or injectors never go out. If you use them for pulling, can be extremely useful but most don't.
No 360 camera system is a deal killer for me. It's supposed to be an off-road truck, and it's bigger than your average light duty pickup, so knowing your side-to-side clearance and what's right in front of you is really critical. That's an inexcusable oversight IMO.
Why would they keep the standard size spare tire under the bed? Just to add some extra weight to load the rear axle? If so they could just make a custom low-profile weight to put there. That is a weird choice.
Solid front / rear axle diesel HD but 1600# payload after the AEV upfitt is why it’s a good idea to consider 3500 if you need to use payload. A 3500 has 3000-3400# after the upfit but you get leafs and not a 5 link. The rebel has 1400# before AEV upfit, so under 1k with it (well under tacoma payload) 😬.
I tow an off grid travel trailer with my truck. Any truck will tow a trailer down the interstate but when it comes to getting a travel trailer to that remote lake or stream only the Power Wagon will do. Lockers front and rear and a winch for the times you need it which isn't very often. Further, diesel isn't cheaper in the long run when you factor in oil changes, cost of fuel and DEF, and changing out your DPF when it's clogged. No thank you, my 2022 Carli King Power Wagon on 37's suits me perfectly.

Its not likely the power train struggling, its the gearing. Unless they changed out the gearing, going and sticking 40's on anything will make it feel sluggish.
Ben I am in the process of comparing this truck against the F250 Shelby Super Baja to purchase one or the other. Would love to see a Super Baja review to get your opinion. You are right no lockers is not acceptable for this vehicle.
@@BenHardyCars: Just an FYI, in the case of these Toyo Open Country M/T tires the M/T stands for 'maximum traction' instead of mud terrain. I guess that's Toyo's version of saying mud terrain as it's seems to be their most aggressive off-road tire short of their off-road competition tire.
$40,000 extra ?!?!? There’s a reason why it’s been sitting there for two months… you shouldn’t have to win lottery to buy a truck $120 k is a house price. FCA wake up

it should have a front and rear locker thats ridiculous, the bumpers look great but not 40k upcharge great haha
Perfect for bumper-to-bumper commuting
RAM is a REAL man’s truck!!
Nice truck but not for $120K.
@@oneslackr it’s a 2500. So it pulls its price tag if you own a business.
Always wondered why these are built off a Laramie and not a 2500 Rebel or Power Wagon?

explain diesel maintanance for those thinking of switching from gas to diesel

AEV will build you one on the Rebel, Ben. I've confirmed it! I also hope they start building that Grand Sierra concept they were showing on 40s.

ZR2 Bison for me unless a Rebel AEV shows up.

Do the AEV prospector/xl packages include regearing the front and rear axles?

You need to do a side by side between Ram and GM AEV
It is not even close due to time. Couple of more years and the similar mods might be available for the GMC.
