As a hospice nurse, I can vouch for this. I once watched a man who had repented from being a horrible, abusive father, and was even anointed. He took an entire week of struggle in a semi-comtose state. I believe he was being purged, somehow, because I am told he was very contrite, and his kids even forgave him.
I was a hospice chaplain for 12 years. God's mercy was present in those who were lingering and struggling. Those with no faith or understanding wished death would come, but I saw God working to save their souls.
@@cynthiamayher8736 our hospice chaplain rebuked me, once, when I made that comment. He said we make the choice long before we go comatose.
I disagree with that. I have known people to come out of a coma and start struggling. I knew of a lady, unfortunately I wasn't there, who sat up out of a deep coma, screaming for help.
Her family was beside herself, but by the time I got there in the morning as a matter of routine, she had died en route. I wish they would have called me sooner, because they could not calm her down. I would have told her to call the name of Jesus.
I have done that- whispered in their ear, as they were struggling their last. And, of course, then is the best time to pray for them. I always ask for a visitation. Who would make the right choice if God himself came and showed Himself?
@@sissybrooks8588 that chaplain was wrong. God continues to work with a soul until death. Those in coma are still alive. They hear, feel, think. We know that, science has proven it. There is an entire field of coma work. We must pray for the souls of the dying.

@Daniel Pan the church has actually never taught that. If one was a catholic and knew the truth of the faith and intentionally left out of pleasure or selfishness, that is a grave cause for concern, but if one is never born catholic and never encountered it, thats for Gods judgement if their hearts

This is a very complex topic. I have my thoughts. But .... St Leonardo Mandic said it best : when asked why he gave small penances to horrendous sinners ..... It is true that i give small penances ...... because i do the rest myself.
Let us then take upon ourselves penance, and then harsher penances, for our neighbors!

Beautiful prayer at the end! My Jesus showed me my soul. It looks like something from a horror movie! I don't know how He can stand beng around me or what I have o do to clean it up. I will say the beautiful prayer every day and ask how do I pay for my sins. And I haven't been nearly as bad as many people, so....

This video causes one to deeply reflect on the reality of death. May those with cancer, like myself, entrust themselves to the Lord and His Blessed Mother, recite the Holy Rosary and Divine Mercy Chaplet. Pray each day for the dying and for the Holy Souls. Jesus and Mary, I Iove you save souls, save the unborn.

So long as he confesses his sins with sincerity he'll be ok
I appreciate the sentiment, that one should live every day as if it was The Day of Judgement, but this sermon comes off more as a counsel of despair than one of conversion. The idea that men are faced with the thought that at their death ".."it will be impossible to settle these accounts such as to save our souls" suggests that by our own actions we CAN save our souls, and seems to trivialize the Infinite Divine Love and Mercy, and the possibility of Salvation that comes from sincere belief in Jesus Christ as The Way, The Truth and The Life.
The wages for sin is Death.
Having lived in a state of Grace, we can rest assured the transition from this world to the next will be natural and glorious.

Many of us pray the Rosary but do not know How to pray.
1) Did any one time we ask ourselves how do we Honour Our Mother Mary ( Queen) and did we ask Her permission that we calling Her Mother Mary . Most of us don't or we do not know.
2) if we want to see the Queen of England we must go through many channels to see her. After if we are granted to see the queen we will dress up the best and when we see her and we bow down to her. Why because we can see the Queen of England.
3) Mother Mary is the Queen of Heaven and Earth, Queen of all Queens and why we never ask permission from Her. That show we take Her for granted and how do you think Her Son Jesus will feels. Jesus himself when He wants to come down to Earth through Her . Jesus will ask Her permission, when Mother Mary say Your Will Be Done Unto Me according to Your Words. And than the Holy Spirt over shadowed Her. Mother Mary gave you Permission.
I love to share with all Brothers & Sisters my experience and what She said to me Many of my Children pray the Rosary buy do not know how to Pray. She Our Mother Mary teach me and ask me to give all her Children and to Help and Safe Souls.
This is how you ask Her permission and that will make Jesus very happy. You can say this permission before saying the Rosary or any other prayers , She's our Mother right.

Hmmm....maybe I didn't hear this right but it almost seems to imply that trust in Jesus, imperfect contrition (which is a thing since few of us can perform perfect contrition), repentance and the teachings of the Catholic church might not be sufficient, even while still in this world. If the dying saints couldn't muster trust in their savior and their church, how can we?

The sentiments of dying Christians can be salvific if accompanied by repentance, even imperfect repentance (i.e., based on fear of punishment).

"When one is in the state of mortal sin, one can go to Confession with imperfect contrition and be forgiven. But one cannot be forgiven of mortal sin with imperfect contrition outside of the Sacrament of Confession."

Someone needs to explain the line somewhere in the 7th minute where he quotes Saint Alphonsus as saying something like "the sorrow of the worldling at the moment before death is as useless as the repentance of the damned." This seems wrong. As long as there is breath in the body and the sorrow is sincere then the Divine Mercy will do the rest.
Perhaps the use of the word "worldling" denotes a lack of any actual repentance, not even fear of just punishment.
@@djg585 The language is vague. And that is dangerous in these matters because the devil can use it to wreak havoc with people. Saint Alphonsus may have intended that the sorrow isn't sincere but that isn't what was said. Thanks for your reply.

Is this what some priests do sitting around imagining about what will happen when someone dies. I just finished a long shift in a job I hate and on top of carrying my cross I have to hear I need to be saint, I bend over backwards providing for my family and the church, maybe I am a Saint after all .. maybe this priest needs to come out of his little protected Catholic cocoon and see what it's like when your given the choice work or starve and not just work but work fast.
I’m sorry you feel that way, but the point of being a true Catholic is to bear our crosses with no complaints but with patience and love. In other words, suffering joyfully is the only way straight to Heaven. The priest didn’t come up with this but it’s in Scripture. Look at the life of Jesus, who is God Himself. Isn’t He the owner of everything yet He suffered at the hands of His own creatures? I suggest you count your blessings and beg for God to give you the graces to bear your cross!
My complaint is by the sounds of things carrying your cross isn't enough, in fact it sounds like it doesn't matter how hard you try your doomed, but I personally don't feel that way, I think this priest puts a normal persons in a state of unrest, setting impossible tasks for all.

I don’t know what happened to this channel! I used to be able to listen for hours without a commercial. Put on a sermon, jumped in the shower commercial comes on of a rap song laced with profanity and selling drugs. God wouldn’t approve of you making any money off of these sermons even if it’s going to the church. So disappointed. I’ll be praying for a change.
It's not the channel that selects the ads you see. It's based on the advertiser's choices as to who they wish to promote their ads to - based on what has been searched or typed into your computer.
UA-cam makes decisions about the type of advertisements. I'll bet they are doing it on purpose. Sometimes they show ads even if the channel hasn't set them. I've seen other creators complain about this.
There are no adds on this video. Also if there were, it could be UA-cam forcing adds onto it. If you don't want adds for the bad content, then get an add blocker. Also youtube works by suggesting content you've previously watched, so either you've watched that content on youtube or other platforms or you have suggested adds turned off (then it just makes a random guess of what you want.)
