Absolutely LOVED the drive! Noticed the road would get a little narrower around communities! My sister lives in the NW corner of NC. Most roads in that area are that wide, or narrower. Curves with a bit of the mountain REALLY close to it, with a stream or falls on the other side. ❤
Of course the things ya had to keep an eye out for, especially on the roads with no center stripe/mark, were bears, painters, deer, 'coons, 'possums, turkey, free-range hogs & cows, an occasional 'mountain goof' on a quad.
We call this a Sunday Drive around here. Little day trips in the country. Love these old towns. We usually explore other states, sometimes it nice we can explore something local that we've never been to. Thanks for watching!!
@@TheMadNomadder - I do miss California. Lived in the Central Valley for 30 years. Not that far from the mountains or the coast. Live in Northwestern Southeastern Michigan now, and can’t drive(2 strokes). I’ll live, vicariously, through your videos. ❤️
Sorry to hear that you are unable to drive. We are wanting to get back to California, I've always wanted to go to Yosemite. I've started looking up the Sierra Nevadas and the gold rush mining towns of California. So if things work out for us...wife health...we will try to head that way next summer. We've never been to Michigan, we've always talked about just doing a trip there...seeing Frankenmuth, Holland, The Great Lakes, and Hell for the photo-ops.
Beautiful country drive. Our states history. Always fun to visit somewhere new.
Yeah I cant believe it took us that long to get there. Lifetime not road time lol
Great driving video
That is a scenic route, isn't it?
Super neat I was raised in West Virginia and never heard of this place so it was definitely a ghost town 😮
It was a little nice day trip. We made a few stops on the way down and back. New River Gorge Bridge, Beckley, and Babcock State Park.

camp david?
Camp David is in or near Thurmont, Maryland. This is Thurmond, West Virginia, which is probably in the middle of the state.
