A "90后" Chinese here. I am literally crying over this video Winston. It is unimaginable how much my grandparents and parents endured to provide for the family. My grandfather was an intellectual and used to teach in school. During cultural devolution, he was forced to work as a farmer and bricklayer in response to "知青下乡". He worked to death before I was born. My dream is to become a professor in the US and do everything I can to spread awareness as you do. What CCP fears the most is the truth. Stay awesome.

My wife said there is a saying that the flower that stands taller then the rest is the one that gets cut. And in my own experiences in China, the CCP watched what happened in the former Soviet Block and seemed to realize that they can keep the people fat dumb and happy through the market reforms that started in the 90's. I witnessed an evolution of people there becoming even more concerned about looking out for themselves.

The Chinese economy was recognized as a bubble *over a decade ago.* The people who said it was a bubble weren't wrong; we're seeing them being validated _now._
However, said bubble has lasted this long, over a decade. Why? Because of the CCP's control. They managed to keep up the facade and scheme all this time.
I look forward to the day when the CCP falls, but let's not jump to conclusions just because it's the outcome we want.

    • @bighands69

The CCP bubble lasting this long has nothing to do with the CCP control. China export market kept it going when the bubble was growing but it cannot maintain that bubble beyond a certain point and that is where you will see it go through a fast expansion phase. China will break down and split up and that is where the real danger is.

As such, I think they're just going to stick to just threatening Taiwan until the last of their days rather than actually going forward with it and potentially making things worse, as bad as things are. If the CCP ever decides to go after Taiwan, it will be out of desperation and madness.

And US saw decline of 10% GDP back then. China is looking at instantenous fall of 15% of GDP if real estate prices correct to US levels which is still tremendously overpriced and there could easily be spilled to other industries and sectors of economy making fall even worse. CCP will live through it and so will China. But it can most definitely be called economical collapse.

No, you can apply logic to China. Logic isn't one dimensional. With logic you can see what China is, how it's come to this point and some possible directions for how things will develop.
The thing is, you can't apply dumb logic to China solely from an uninformed westerners perspective. Like serpentza says: China works and thinks different. But to anybody who studied a little bit of china or similar regimes, there's a whole range of educated guesses you can make.

I was in Shanghai for a month (scheduled to be there for two months) to learn Mandarin (I am fluent in Japanese). I asked my friend what she thought about Mao - and her face turned white and whispered YOU MUST NEVER SAY THAT HERE! and proceeded to say loudly so that everyone could hear her: Oh, he was a great man. He is the father of our country! In my Chinese language class - my second week - I told my teacher (who was really, really good) that someone had opened my backpack on the train and stolen my camera while everyone was watching. She looked sad, and went over to the window and closed the blind, and put her finger up to her lips to mean DON'T TALK - and wrote CCP on the blackboard and pointed at it, then erased it very quickly. Then she said: That's the reason why it was stolen. People steal to stay alive. It's the CCP that is to blame, not the Chinese people or their character. I saw Barrack Obama in Shanghai soon after taking office, talking to students and he was going on and on about American freedom and democracy. The students had completely blank looks on their faces. I realized they don't want freedom or democracy because freedom and democracy require personal responsibility, and they don't want that. Who wants to be responsible for their lives. They can throw garbage on the ground and not think twice about it - let the government take care of that. Housing? Let the government take care of that. They like not having to take responsibility for themselves. Communism helped unify the country during WWII - that had been colonized up to then by the French, the British and Americans, and invaded and raped by the Japanese, so it brought the country together as one country, so I'm sure they are happy about that - and with the CCP introducing capitalist methodology, things have improved, so people think things are fine just as they are. That's my interpretation. I left Shanghai after one month because it was dirty, noisy, people were thieves, and rude, and it was incredibly bad. I dropped my class and came back to clean, polite, and society is good. I was so glad to come back here. It's like night and day. I'm enjoying your videos Serpentza.

The reason they lost in ww2 (and the entire century prior) was because of stagnation and overconfidence. Like, when Britain came for trade they told them in Latin no, because they were so full of themselves, they didn't care the Roman empire collapsed over a thousand years ago.

He can be a little one sided propaganda machine but he has knowledge about China. Mainly because there's nothing for a foreigner to find there. The people are born into the country and when someone says the word China it means an individual person in china. They worship butchers because they're allowed to worship them and the economy in China is fake so there's no wonder why the economy is unable to collapse when it's people who will suffer no matter how bad it gets. When it gets worse CCP gets more power since the military don't fight for their families. Instead CCP makes up stories which the people believe. They believe that USA is going to invade China and that CCP is saving them so there's no way a country who declared war on the rest of the world to abandon their savior. The likelyhood for the people in China to rise against CCP would be as if people in Great Britain decided to attack their own countrymen during ww2 and join the Germans.

It's probably cultural. East Asia is the only place where most people don't believe that humans are equal. They believe some humans are superior and some are inferior, most of them have a deep inferiority complex against people that have more authority or status than them, that is why they're mostly shy and introverted, that is also why they're less likely to rise up and challenge those in power.

They don't, the Financial crisis of 2008 hit China hard. If you look at the numbers they seem fine but if you actually go there and live there's another story. It's really bad for regular Chinese people now. Lockdowns and government crackdowns on big business is killing a lot of jobs. I got back to China in 2020 after 6 months abroad, a few months into the pandemic and half the stores on the streets outside our apartment block had closed. 2 years later some of the rental spaces are still vacated. We even have two big malls here that are 4 stories high and only the first floor is active because business got effed over after all lockdowns.

The "x" days countdown is apparently based on a petition circulation in China to stop paying mortgages on unfinished houses on that date. Some Chinese jumped the gun and have stopped early, but the date on the petition is still several weeks away. The original video on that topic claimed it would cause a contraction in the money supply and a 2008 style economic collapse. I don't think he made mention of a collapse of the CCP.

@@richyket661 Prices convey information about supply and demand. National governments CAN distort prices - manipulating interest rates, mandating minimum wages, imposing trade quotas, capping rents, etc. But it always has consequences down the road. It creates a wobble in the economy that requires a subsequent correction. That subsequent correction then creates a bigger wobble in a different direction. Eventually the wobbles get too big to correct and it all comes down. That applies to both the US and China. It's usually the government's fault, but it usually successfully blames people or corporations.

Only one important thing you didn't mention. Since the death of Mao, China viewed as a whole gained a great deal of wealth (and thus, power) by loosening up on the people and allowing markets and the exchange of economic information. Now that is being reversed, so a significant economic growth rate will now be impossible. The CCP can live for a while on the wealth accumulated, but with economic growth banished, China will steadily decline in world power, and fade and collapse over the decades.

Just because that's what you hope would happen, doesn't mean it will happen.
The United states has went through a worse economic crisis, yet the economy still grew.
Considering they have very limited control of the population or the country.

In my opinion, politics is similar. There are always people who don't want to come down from that position. Pelosi makes money for his family, and Biden tries to make a lot of dollars for his son. This situation is also obvious in China. When a few people get rich, they begin to enslave the poor. I remember when I discovered your channel, back when you were living in China.
I remember I was taken aback by your softly framed criticism of the Chinese government, your hesitance to go at the throat more. I remember how you followed everything that could be slightly negative up with something positive but irrelevant, to always balance it up. My first instinct was to think it was a little weak, but the more I saw, the more I realised you just didn't have the opportunity to speak out too harshly considering you had your life and family there. And so I kept watching to learn more about China from you and the milk man, and I understood I had to read between the lines a lot. Then you left China and started to reveal your insight and speak out clearly and I am so glad I stuck with you, you've proven that you cared and understood the situation the whole time.
The fact that you are willing to give a voice to the silenced, to speak up against unjustice, to devout time and energy to keep things real. I'm very grateful for that. Because I know it cannot have been easy or without cost. Stay awesome.
