I said that’s too lol. I think the confusion is, I was responding to someone in my chat while I was recording who was asking if she was miming and if there was a live band there. So I was explaining how it would sound differently if there wasn’t a band.

Who thought this counted as stripped down 🤦‍♀️
In the Paris Live mini concert for the album Lover, she does two songs with just her and her guitar on the songs Death By A Thousand Cuts and Cornelia Street. That is quite a large venue and she does really well.

Before I even watch the reaction, I am curious how they gave you 'Don't Blame Me' as a stripped down Taylor Song. I would have thought they would give you a Clip of 'Tolerate It' or 'Willow' or 'My Tears Riccochet' from the Eras tour. But lets take a watch at your reaction.

she has 4 backup singers, also singing live on this. Her band is in the staging, second deck, behind all the screens -- they come out a bit later. If you want something "stripped back" look for something labeled "acoustic." She usually does some acoustic songs in every concert (except things like Jingle Bell Balls); also, she did a fairly stripped back version of some of Red in a session called Live on the Seine (filmed on a riverboat in Paris with college students) or her VH1 Songwriters session (look for Harvey Mudd as the venue - VH1 does _not_ have it, which is super annoying). Her BBC Live Lounge Sessions are really good, as well.

Sorry for the multiple comments, what can I say, it's my adhd 🙈
Yes, she sings live but does reply on some backtrack work. But the awesome thing is that she also allows her backup singers to really support her when needed. You can hear in the BBC Live Lounge Sessions a bunch of her tracks from Lover how good her singers and her band is. And she's kept mostly the exact same backup singers and band members throughout her entire career.
You can see when you watch live footage that Swift is very collaborative in her approaches to live performance 😊

    • @its_clean
      @its_clean 11 місяців тому +1

More context for markabusi: Yup, Taylor has both a standard backing track and also her longtime live backup crew, but her mic is always live and whenever she opens her mouth that's always her real voice. And whenever she has a guitar on stage, she's always playing for real, she doesn't mime. But other than her solo acoustic sets, she also rarely plays the lead, she's usually playing just the rhythm and being doubled by the actual rhythm guitarist for safety. But it's still her playing for real.

    Hello,
    I enjoyed your reaction!
I saw someone recommend stripped down versions of songs to you. If you’re in the market, here are a few good ones:
Wildest Dreams (Grammy Museum performance - this one is just Swift with an electric guitar)
All Too Well (Grammy performance- I recommend the one not labeled rehearsal)
    OR
All Too Well (Reputation Tour- the one above is on a piano with some backup. The version from the tour is just her and an acoustic guitar)
For something more along the lines of this one (i.e. epic) you might like Intro/Ready For It (also from the Reputation Tour).
    Enjoy!

Oooh I didn't know you'd reacted to this one. Yeah,I got definite Hozier TMTC vibes when I first saw this. It's an absolute banger.
The album version production is pretty close but lacking that filthy electric guitar that takes it to another level. There's more grit in her big belts too. The album ad libs are very clean, so don't hit as hard.
When I first saw swifties begging for a rock album I thought "er... really?" then saw her 1989 tour rock versions of we are never getting back together and trouble and got hit in the face with a brick.
She really can pull off anything she wants to.

Ok so here's the story behind the mysterious rock album. We believe that after releasing 1989 in 2014, Taylor started writing a rock-focused album called Karma. This would have been released in 2016 based on the two-year schedule she had followed up until that point. But following the release of 1989, there was all the Kanye/Kim drama and the media assault on Taylor and she disappeared from the spotlight for a while before unexpectedly releasing Reputation in 2017. We believe that due to everything that happened in 2015/2016, she ditched the Karma rock album and instead wrote Reputation to reflect her change in feelings and situation.
Evidence: She had always been infusing rock and pop punk influences into her music since the beginning, and during the 1989 tour she experimented big time with reinterpreting her songs with classic hard rock vibes and instrumentation. As for the name, Taylor has dropped repeated hints about Karma, with visual easter eggs in various music videos as well as slyly stating "Karma is real" in an interview.

Also, this is generally about as positive about a song as I get, I tend to be quite critical of most music, because I am trying to give balanced and thoughtful reviews, rather than just sit there and say that everything is amazing. I think, respectfully, you should maybe not tell me how to run my own fucking channel, and I don’t give a damn if swifties come in here or not.
