For those wondering, positive reinforcement is better than negative reinforcement. A mix of both is better than just negative reinforcement. The problem is that negative reinforcement is more convenient for the untrained instructor. Knowing that Zero is a guy and a gamer, he's ultimately more familiar with negative reinforcement. People use what is familiar to them. I am not saying Zero is wrong and that you shouldn't listen to him. I'm saying he has bias like anyone else and that being an extraordinary esports player doesn't inherently make an excellent instructor/teacher.
People dont listen when spoken to with compassion. There are very few people in the world that can set aside ego to hear how they can improve. When you have negative reinforcement, it stays in the back of your mind. When the situation arises where you are lacking your memory will kick in and say screw your ego. It sucks humans are like this, but a tried and true method is better than fixing something that isnt broken.
Positive reinforcement also requires a lot more nuance and is generally harder to do, it's easy to yell at someone and use punishment so I think a lot of people end up doing that
Hes right 100%. When someone thinks theyre going to get dropped and are getting yelled at for making mistakes are either going to break and quit, or improve like their life depended on it

@Beatler3D He is not going to poke the entire game. In between looting, macro-rotation, micro-rotation, IGL-ing, etc. he is not going to run through 300+ energy ammo when it actually comes time to fight or hold a position and take poke shots. That amount of ammo is clearly overkill. Evan and gen have almost identical mechanics/aim but evan has him beat in tactics/positioning/teamwork/timing. He learned alot from hal and raven. Theres a reason evan can place higher in tournaments were hes paired with randoms compared to hal and gen. Evan is in route to becoming the best player in game. He only is lacking in the igl department and thats because hal is filling that role.
I agree but that's not fully true... Evan doesn't place higher in tournaments with randoms than Hal. Hal was #1 in that professional league they did where you got random teammates every game. I forget what it was called. Like a ranked league. But anyway hal and effect had the highest KD and points per game by an absolute mile. Evan was top 10, genburten didn't really play that much. Plus hal has won a majority of the content tourneys he's played, to the point where it is a meme to try and stop hal winning again
Gen plays linear before most players so he was ahead of most. Other players had to work into linear, linear is raw input so ppl that mastered it will be good at tracking even without AA. Gen uses 2% deadzone tho. Pandxrz is the one that pretty much started the 4-3 linear 0% deadzone aka raw precision in aim, he was also ahead of Evan, Gild, etc. Hal is the GOAT roller player because of the way he thinks the game and he improved his aim because now he don't need small deadzone.
Gen I would say is the more mechanically skilled player, just watch his control without AA, but the current 4-3 Linear AA balance favors players like Evan and Yanya.
I think Gen is just a more vibrant personality and had more exposure (as he was insanely hyped up prior to the NA move); while Evan sort of just filled into his position far and above most roller pros. Most controller players are relatively on the same skill level when you're looking at the top end, but it's the clutch factor and reliability that shines more than anything else. There's a lot of highly talented rollers that just can't fit into top squads like Gent, Naughty, Xynew and Dezign even.
