Hello there. Would it be possible to safely use just one channel of the amp for a center speaker? Thanks for any response at all and great reviews as well 👍
75 watts power amplifier is much different than 75 watts in a reciever, you have to drive it much harder before it runs out of gas. I have a Carver av705x 5 channel amplifier 125 watts a channel and it's very rare for me to get it to clip. And it will kick the crap out of any reciever that's rated at even 160 watts. Mine is all channels driven and 180 watts into 4 ohms . Good review, good information. Emotiva makes a great product.
interesting review. ty a lot. I bought this gem aka BasX A-150 new at only 250 euro.. the vers. 300W was over 550 euro...a dac from Topping E30 and a pair. Warfedale diamond 225...sounds very nice in 13 m2
Hi, Do you think the motiva A150 is enough to drive a set of kef qa50 upward firing atmos speakers. Can you give me your thoughts about how good they would drive them thanks. I have read that the kef qa50 are harder to drive then some other atmos speakers.
Got a basx a-300 on the way. I need to find a good preamp for it. I want to keep a low budget. What should i get ? Been looking at the Emotiva BasX PT-100. Any good ?
Terrific review! Just reinforces the fact that Emotiva makes quality products for the money. Can't wait until I order the Emotiva XPA-11 to pair with my Marantz AV8802A and see how it will sound/perform for movies.
Thomas Gaskill thank you, emotiva has a sale on the mono blocks reference amps but still pretty pricey at 20% off. I feel this company makes the best products for the price.
I would say that depends on your music taste, if you like the loud live music sound go with klipsch, if you like a flat response and a more realistic sound at all volumes then SVS.
I'll actually be performing a review video of the pt 100 paired with a few different power amps. But sounds like a crisp clear dynamic powerful setup if you ask me
@@tacticalAV looking forward to see it. I recently bought the a-300 to my HT front speakers (klipsch r-28f) replacing the vincent sp-331 just because the vincent is lacking trigger input ;) . Thought i was gonna miss alot but i was really surpriced.
You will certainly hear the difference once you upgrade. I downgraded for a bit to compare setups, and easily the receiver doing the video processing and the amps were the most important factors in receiving the reference sound quality.
, the A100 is a stereo power amp as well as an headphone amp. It's both. In fact it's the single most powerful headphone amp that you can buy. As long as you install the jumpers that come with the amp. Its rated at 75 wpc, @ rms 8Ohms
This is a great review. This is exactly what I was looking to add a few speakers and nice clear sound to a small room for a low, not cheap, price. thank you for this. Plus the last thing I need is one more @#$%! Remote!...
I have never used ther trigger on my amps. It's just there to turn on and off when you turn other equipment on and off. It's essentially there so you don't ever have to touch the power or the switches on the amp and they just turn on and off when the equipment next to it turns on and off. You can either hit the power switch on the back and use the front power button or you can just leave it in standby mode when not used.
Nigel Pottinger thanks man, its a Z line designs from Wal-Mart or Ashley furniture. They're selling a newer one at Wal-Mart I saw with the tv mount on the back, curved legs on it though.
I am using Audioquest evergreen or golden gate RCA cables to go from the pre amp to the power amp. Audioquest AC power cables as well powering them both, but that really makes no difference. For speaker wire I am using Audioquest type 4 speaker cables.
@@tacticalAV Evergreen eh.. I have a pair of AQ Emerald from 1989. I LOVE them, but they're only 1.5 M long. Cost $300 in Japan.. Have you ever listen to AQ Vinyl?
I just ordered the 150,need your help, will the Audioquest RCA(evergreen) cable fit on the back of the amp.It looks to wide l/r channel inputs and I might need 2ea. separate RCA cables, does that make sense what I'm asking.I know it will be fine on my Marantz AV.
Did you end up getting the evergreen RCA cable? I have had to switch the type of RCA cables I buy now in order to split them apart and each channel is its own cable.
Here it was a Monster reference series, but Panamax is a better brand in my opinion. These Monsters just lasted for years and years so I have never gotten rid of them. Now they have lights that pull out and outlets on the front, battery backup and digital memory.
Thanks for the review. So basically even the A-150 is more than enough watts delivered for domestic useage. Just missed out on a great deal on eBay for a used A-300 so thinking for same price to get a new A-150 now
Disagree with your comments on the power of the a150.I have used mine with epos towers with a sensitivity of 85 db.no problem with power vs performance
The a 150 is an amazing amp, and the fact that emotiva uses 29db of gain in most amps, they really send enough power to most speakers in modest sized rooms.
The Marantz is probably going to be the better one, but honestly I doubt you could notice a difference in them unless your using them for music with the front L and R. You could always check out the Emotiva A 5175, its a 5 channel I was hoping to get soon but with 175 watts rms each channel. Although the a 500 is built extremely well.
buster colin Yes. Unfortunately, there aren't many cheap options for receivers with preouts. There aren't any cheap "no frills" AV processors or receivers with preouts. It sucks, but there doesn't seem to be a big enough market for products like that.
buster colin I've only had Yamahas myself, but the Denons are good as well. I got the RX A-880 just so I could run the extra power amps. I use Outlaw mono blocks, but I'm getting an A-150 for my office. The sound will probably be pretty similar. It will mainly vary in the way they do EQ if you turn on the extra processing. I used to be against all the extra stuff that alters the source, but I admit YPAO volume and Adaptive DRC make a big difference since I can't run full volume in my room constantly. The one thing that I've never noticed an improvement with is the room correction, so I leave that off.
@@TH-lo8mq yeah I do manual setup instead of YPOA. I saw the A880 last night but there was no center pre out? I don't have a center speaker yet but I'm interested. I don't know man, at the price point it's either the Denon or Yamaha A880.
buster colin You're probably good either way. I was trying to hold out for HDMI 2.1, but it's not a huge deal for now unless you are really into gaming. The 880 does have full preouts. Check the rear image again. The 780 only has Fronts and Zone 2.
Am I getting old ??? ****ONLY***** 75 W per channel ??????? Really I want to know that sort of wattage would be great 50 years ago, are you deaf ? The specs seem very reasonable for hi-fi
Daniele Sbordone I’m considering the A300. I know rotel has a good reputation....have you compared the two? Just curious since I haven’t seen emotive sound as grainy. That scares me. I don’t want grainy!
@@ItalianCJM8232 , I would recommend you have a listen to it because , sometimes , what's good for one person may not be somebody else's cup of tea. I prefer Rotel but I realize that it has a higher price tag than the Emotiva. Check it out and if you like it , buy it. Try both of them out and let me know which one you like better.
I have had a few receivers over the years that have had problems with overheating or just heat in general.. and even though they are out in the open, it killed certain parts on the circuit boards. The fans are there to just give it a little more air and breathing room when on for extended periods of time. It really makes a night and day difference as far as temp is concerned. Helps to prolong the life of all the components.
My receiver stays ice cold or room temp. I did have one RCA RT2600 receiver some time ago that had dual cooling fans inside and it got pretty darn hot. I made the mistake of upgrading to a Yamaha receiver with HDMI, just to have something new and it didn't have the power that the RCA had. The yamaha didn't like the big Sony speakers with passive radiators I had. luckily the yamaha is long gone. Unfortunately the speakers are too. :-(
Great review, ordered mine to run my rear speakers 👍🏽

Svs prime towers vs klipsch RP towers .
Which will you recommend

What about using in to run a Emotiva C1+ center
