    as someone who has never understood how space engineers work. I'm gonna try and getting into it again, and I love these videos, cause I'm learning alot, and I love your designs.

    I have to say. your series has inspired me to go about building a survival friendly colony.

    So I have been watching your videos on space engineers from the start and honestly I have enjoyed them so much. They are great teaching tools for me and perhaps a realistic understanding of how to build into a mountain through ingenuity, creative choices and engineering. Keep up the good work ps aesthetics will always come at the end.

    If you were to build a wheeled outrigger that rolls along the roadbed behind the welders, to support the welders, you could adjust to the needed vertical support with the suspension.

    I'm rewatching the series and is it just me that noticed in the last video he made on the inch worm he spent 10 mins trying to setup the system for the extra convoy's along the sides and the top of tunnel and now he's gotten rid of it

  • @bitfighterrosemoor797
    @bitfighterrosemoor797 5 років тому +1

    Rebuild the inchworm to go up, it's far easer. the hassle to turn the current up is not worth your time. and press shift+f1 to get rid of the warning in the upper right corner.
    great episode, keep it up.

    You could have made it with several layers with welders, tahat way you could weld whatever you've got in mind .. 1. Layer closest to the walls, 2. One layer closer , etc. That way nothing would collide and with some additional layers to fill out unreachable spots, you could use all vanilla welders =)

  • @ajfairchild30
    @ajfairchild30 5 років тому +4

    Just curious. Why are you not putting welders facing backwards from your inchworm digger? The front side has the drills the back side has welders. You already have all the conveyors run and it would remove the need for a mod. Don't have them face the tunnel well but instead face backwards toward the entrance.

    • @AntoTabey
      @AntoTabey 5 років тому

      because the speed of the drilling rig and thespeed at wich the welders need to go is different i guess

    It looked like the conveyer beneath the blocks on the side look like they didn't build. I may be wrong but at 15:08 it looked like they were still about 3 or 4 blocks back.

    Hi some friendly advice for the sagging, put a couple of thrusters at the end. The thrusters try to get the end to level out on their own and will reduce the sag.

    Skipping through, there are other options you likely haven't considered.... Instead of having all of the welders facing along the edge of the tunnel - add some to the REAR. This way, when you move inwards, you can weld up the 3 thick arches, without losing anything. You would need to keep those projectors stationary, most likely, either by making temporary projectors or by having another set of pistons move the projector in the opposite direction as you move.

    Id use the pipes ull use in the final design so they dont get in the way like they did with the middle bottom part.
    Id also add lights to the BP’s so it isnt so dark in the tunnel

    There is nothing wrong with conveyor junctions from a building perspective. The issue with conveyor junctions lays within the coding causing lag. So the more junction added into your world the processes needed for each junction to function. This increased world load to process the world. The same problem happens with batteries and ore detectors. I use to convey all of my ships with junctions because they make more sense to use. Now I have to use pipes instead otherwise the game will take a crap after a few builds.

    Hi Rich
    as soon as you start building that you're going to realise your going to need to have the arch in the middle of The Blueprint otherwise you're going to have two arches together when you flip it back around that also means you can get rid of one of the projectors.
    Ps
    Really enjoying this series thank you

    to start off I want to say I haven't played this game all I know about it is from the videos I've seen but at 15:09 it looks like some of the conveyors under the floor didn't get built I would think this could cause some problems later on but I don't know tell me if I am wrong

    In the world where i play with some friends i try to use your drill design to make a core drill and get stone that way to make everything i need.
    hopefully i wont forget to make a blueprint for it so that i can easily build it at the cobalt depot.

  • @briancarlsen4772
    @briancarlsen4772 5 років тому

    There is a mod that, when it worked did something like this. A tunneling machine that drilled and welded and piped out the stone. It's pretty cool but it got broken with one of the updates. Just look for tunneling machine. But what you are doing is very cool and listening to your thought process is cool.

    Instead of trying to make a round of welders pointing outward, I would have made them pointing backward, so they weld from behind each block, not from the inside circle(if that sentence makes sense) :/
    That way you could have used the original ones(and the projector pointing backward also), could have been attached to your inch worm :D or be a separate one following the digger(with the grinders too or something, using the same tether :)
    Too late now :D

  • @0623kaboom
    @0623kaboom 5 років тому +1

    instead of making an inch worm welder rig to do the complete tunnel ... make a wheeled version that does one side only ... every other center junction from the inch worm digger put in your support frame ... the empty ones can then be adjusted to make side tunnels and or parking space etc .. also allowing for multi way junctions ... or intersections ... also instead of running ON the diggers line remove the diggers line as you build and make the final one BUT keep the diggers line attached with the builder rig ... as for the size of the build frame .. add sections of just road so they line up between every other digger junction .... to dig up ... make a rig like the inch worm BUT on the bottom coat it with collector pits so as the drills go up and dig ... and the back side welders build all the stuff that falls gets removed ... also put the up rig on wheels so when you do the elevator it is already made to go ... and yes make it so the drills can be removed .... as for making it flip up or down ... a pair of rotors on a junction line that can be rotated to the angel you want and some pistons with landing gear to lock in (yes BOTH sides) ... then you can literally drive the rig down the tunnel get to your up place set the landing gear part rotate the rig to the desired angel and then build a section ... dettach the rotate gear and let it build your elevator ... as golem would say ... up, up, the ... elevator it goes ...

    • @0623kaboom
      @0623kaboom 5 років тому

      instead of making a lopsided bouncy rig .. why not make a 3 section rig ... back connector .. middle and front ... the front digs the middle runs the projectors the back supports the welders ... then the middle will keep the balance when the drills move forward and the back will keep the drill lines connected back and build the final lines as it moves forward ... basically front digs to next junction ... slaps it in on the sides ... upper would be best ... then the the back moves forward build the road and arches as well as the final conveyor system ... which takes all the drill stuff out and the build supplies in ... when the back meets the middle ... the back locks in and the front is already locked ... the middle then unlicks (yeah i know a typo but it fits) and moves forward to the front set and locks in then the front unlocks and moves again and locks in then the back moves up and so on ... essentially make it like the final inch worm from when se started ... the diggers make the hole ... the middle and back support it ... then the front and middle support the back ... then the front and back support the middle ...

    you could make it use a single projector. you just need to go into creative import your current blueprint then mirror it for a second import then blueprint the resulting structure. use the new bp as your design for the tunnel

    I mean you do you but it would make more sense if you had pirates and ships active, then you've got a reason not only for the excessively deep base but a reason to create weapon pods. In fact I'd recommend creating tiny "fingers" that branch out from the door a little piped with tubes that act as a mix of ground and aerial defense.

    Man, I don´t think people dislike the amount of conveyors you use, in my case its just envy, lol, if i had the power my bases could use just conveyor blocks intead of armor blocks as walls and floors, sadly my pc is a potato and I need to really cut the number of conveyors to the minimun to be able to run the game, in fact idk if thats rigth but latelly I´m using small cargo containers instead of conveyors, because I think those are as bad as the conveyors for perfomance, but at least give you some more cargo capacity.
