Have you tried these/are you excited to try them? If you're not big into graphite because of the shine/lack of deep shades then I definitely recommend these.
Yay! I also got my 2 six-packs a month ago. The larger 11-set w/ accessories was unavailable or out-of-stock from many US sites at that time. I'm glad you mentioned how "smooth" they lay down; and also about adding layers, without the extra graphite shine, like with the 9000 series. However, if you burnish or smudge hard with tortillions or stump, IT WILL start to shine a whole lot more than usual. I also noticed if I layered in different directions, it can cause bit of extra shine as well. As usual, GREAT REVIEW and artistic demonstration with the 'eye study.' I ALWAYS ENJOY your natural delivery and content.
Who knows when the 11 set will be back in stock! I might just buy the individual missing pencils off of blick😂I will have to play around with them a bit more. I imagine burnishing a lot creates more shine, I may have to do a burnishing test LOL! I think I tend to be kind of cautious with my technique using graphite or colored pencils because I am always trying to avoid shine/blooms! thank you so much for watching❤
Pitt G.Matt and the Faber Castell Aquarelle, are the best wooden pencils! My sketchroll also includes General Charcoal full set, Kohinoor and Conte Red Chalk,Pentel Graphgear 500 in 0.5 and 0.3mm. As also Conte paperstump,Tombow erasers and KUM sharpeners!
@@AlexisCassandraArt KUM Masterpiece and KUM automatic longpoint, are both a must for any pencil artist. They are not jjust the best in terms of qualityfor ,point they produce and their longevity, they offer more than that with their versatility. If you like Sanguine sketches and drawings, Conte Sanguine and Kohinnorr Russet Sepia 5.6mm or their Red chalk pencil, ate the best in their categories. All supplies I mentioned are my most used and most loved!!
Sorry I couldn’t watch this yesterday, but I’m here now 💗. New Faber Castell items are so exciting!! Getting new art supplies is so satisfying 🤩🙌🏻! Love how these pencils are more on the matte side with a very minimal shine. Always enjoy your comparisons you do 👍🏻! Awesome that these allow you to add more layers. Perfect for a black & white eye drawing 👀. I’m obsessed with how this set works!! I neeeeeed! 🤩💗
Thanks for watching! I have a couple of your videos to catch up on myself, its been quite a busy two weeks😭I'm really satisfied with the decreased level of shine with these pencils and can't wait to use them more! You definitely should try them out:)💙
That really helped because im just begining to buy my graphite set this Christmas. Now i dont have to test them myself. I'm really excited to see your desk corner design tho 👀 😍
I'm so excited to see this! I ordered an art supply from the UK and I saw this set too so it kind of "fell into the basket".😂 I should receive mine by Christmas? Or after....lol! Wow, the difference between them and the regular graphite in the light is astounding. I can't wait to film a drawing with them to see how they work under my studio lights; losing that annoying reflection will be awesome! The drawing you did also shows how matte they are, and I really like it! Yay!!! 😆
Hehe I can't wait for you to receive them out now that I've tried them and love them so much!! 💙They really look better than the normal graphite, less silver and of course darker in the higher grade pencils. There is still a bit of shine that I think you'll see more with studio lights but not as severe, but still, they are the most matte graphite I've ever used!😃
Beautiful drawing and very interesting! I like the whole idea of a matte drawing pencil. Can't wait to see what you continue to think of them. I'll head over to Patreon once that's posted. Thanks, Alexis!
These pencils are really cool! I love your drawing as well. I'm kind of intrigued to try these out now as I never liked the shine I would get with regular graphite and I agree the contrast looks much better!
Thank you! I had a fun time drawing and not worrying about creating too much buildup. I also thought 12B was quite dark already but I'm curious to try out 14B!
From what I see, I'm interested in trying them! I would like to ask you a question... comparing them with the Creta Charcoal oil pencils... I know that these are not graphite,... but are they similar in softness and hardness?
The cretacolor seem to go on a bit smoother I think, but I’d need to compare them side by side to really answer! The cretacolor are quite hard in comparison to regular charcoal pencil.
Thank you!! I draw on a flat desk. I think if I was a painter (acrylics or oils) then I'd want to use an easel or incline desk, but a flat desk works for me for the media I use! especially watercolor because that would just drip on incline😂
Strathmore Mixed Media Paper, and I'm using normal wax/tracing paper to protect my hand and the drawing! It is a really cheap and easy way to keep the drawing from smearing. I usually list materials in the description of my videos if that is helpful to you:)
I was gifted a pair of pencils by this brand and I can see y ppl like them so much. These look really nice I might pick them up since the ones i got are stumps at this point 🤣
They're an awesome brand! I haven't ever been disappointed by a Faber Castell product. I'd be curious to see what you think of these! They're really handy I think
@@AlexisCassandraArt ok, I’ll probably end up buying them. I am one of those people who likes to think the option should be there. Thanks for the video.
This was just Faber-Castell's attempt to copy what Staedtler did with their Lumograph mat pencils. Honestly, I'm not impressed with either one. I'll stick to my usual ways of eliminating shine.

@Marmelade they really are!! I love the quality
I’ve been using these but find they don’t blend out as easy and I can’t lift it off the page as easy

I love these pencils, I bought the 11 pack.
I’m glad to hear!! I really do like them as well.
Is the hardness the same as the 9000 ones? So feels a 2B Graphite the same as a 2B Pitt G matt on paper?
Thanks for the review

love graphite but the shine does bug me so im going to have to find a few of these to try

Noob question here but what type of paper did you use for this sketch and what paper are you resting your hand on? Thanks in advance.

I guess it's a combination of Graphite and Carbon.

I recommend you to review Mitsubishi drawing pencil 🥰
I've heard of this one before! I will keep it in mind☺
There is a 14B in the matte pencils as well.
Yes! Should I buy it?👀 I might expand this set since I really do like it
I'm going to buy the 11pc set.
Is it more capable of retaining sharpness than the Mars Lumograph Black?
Yes, I'd say so. I think almost all Faber Castell pencils seem to have this feature. They stay nice and sharp!
So, they are good pencils but there isn’t too much necessity for them?
It depends on if you are bothered by graphite shine!
@@AlexisCassandraArt ok, I’ll probably end up buying them. I am one of those people who likes to think the option should be there. Thanks for the video.
@@StopFear theyre worth trying and not a huge investment (like colored pencil, watercolor, etc.)!
9000 or this?
How big of an issue is graphite shine for you? If it really annoys you or prevents you from wanting to use the medium, I recommend these!

I've tried the lumographs too! Very interesting, but I think they feel different to graphite in both cases. How do you usually eliminate shine?
You are beautiful
