Happy Aussie Birthday Nate! You're becoming a legend in your own time my man! Also, Mad Props to 17 yr old Noah Hassett!!! I stopped the vid to get a pen/paper to jot this young man's name down. I was totally impressed with his skills. One wave, the lip guillotined him, & he went down, then it shows him getting the axe on his head/neck, & I thought, ih shit, bad wipeout, but out of the spray & whitewater, & in slo-mo, you see him appear, still riding it out!!! Amazing balance & composure for a bloke that young. Please pass this on to him, he deserves the credit, as does the ski pilots!

That line Jerome took thru the first one wow that was a thing of beauty. Happy birthday boss.Also that mutant shoulder/lip thing at around the 6:00 mark that was trippy. And props to the 17 yr old he was charging, be seeing more of him no doubt.

That first tow wave of Nathan's was so thick, the volume of water behind him is amazing. Living in South Oz I know how harsh that country is and for someone like Nathan who grew up in Hawaii just to surf those waters let alone take on a slab like that is like surfing on Mars. In summer time the land temp can go over 40c (104f) and water stays ~16C. Not only are there very large sharks that frequent those waters ( Where the original Jaws live shark scenes were filmed), giant blood sucking flies with green eyes will chase you down to the waters edge and bite you through your wetsuit! Not to mention the scorpions that live under the nearest rock and the brown snakes that have a potentially lethal bite if you're unlucky enough to step on while walking through the scrub. Yes people this is Australia but it ain't no Gold Coast take a shower on the beach.

This is gnar. Its crazy how well Ryan Hardy rode this slab in tension. Its really eye opening how well some people can surf it considering the technical level it requires above most other slabs.

3:34 Went to Dyl's shop in Port Kembla the other day (2020), got a couple of boards. That guy is a champion. Hope he gets well quick. That was aweird wave. He looked all ready to knife it through a pit and a half, then the wave went, "Nah! I forgot to tell you, there's another section."

So inappropriate i had to mute to watch actual waves. coming from reffs where high tides were the surfing fare as a child, liquid lunch, scars, and little crowding are not drama, but fun, although stitches at distant hospitals are included.

I had collapsed lungs twice and cracked multiple ribs many times. It is hard to breathe going through that and if you feel like you’re going to sneeze you are terrified because of the pain. To stay and watch his daughter surf takes a lot of commitment and some carelessness. Was stuck in the hospital for over a week the first time and same for the second because they have to put a tube between my ribs and hook me up to some machine for quite a few days. At least I was loaded up on painkillers the whole time. Hope he gets better because it’s not fun especially if he has to have the tube in his chest.
Yep sneezing with broken ribs feels like Mike Tyson got you with a body shot, well I should say attempting to sneeze - in my experience I got the aa ( breathe in) then the pain was so bad it canceled the Choo (nothing came out).
