75mm is quite a useful focal length for portraits in a more confined space, compared to 85mm, particularly when you want greater compression versus a 50mm. Interesting review Jason.

@@davids2720 For sure, each focal length have their pluses and minuses for sure. Thanks for checking out the video and for the comment as well!!

Like the comparison with the Nikon 85 1.8, thank you for that. The Nikon seems a bit sharper and has more micro contrast. BUT you only see that when you have the pictures next to each other. On a stand alone basis the photos taken with the TT A look a tad soft( which does not have to be a negative) but absolutely sharp enough. I wish those kind of lenses would have been available when I started out. I don't think the TT A is dust and water resistant. So if you want to go out to shoot in more adverse environments it might pay off to go for the Nikon. Personally I am looking to get the 250 5.6 mirror lens and the 75 1.5 Biotar from TTA , nice budget friendly special effect lenses. TT A is doing a great job to offer compelling lenses at a very attractive price.

@@markusbuechter3766 thanks for the amazing comment! Not being dust or water proof is a good point, and as someone who shoots outdoors/on location a lot that's something to consider for sure!
Those two sound interesting, I’ll check them out when I can. Cheers!!

Interesting review. I can guarantee that there’s a firmware update available since the lens I received was DOA and I was told to upgrade the firmware. Since I own a Mac and the firmware update only works with Microsoft based computers, I returned the lens (still awaiting my refund).
You’d be best to buy a generic Z back cap and keep the one with the USB port at home for updates.

Good info, and good idea about the lens cap.
Just double checked the website and noticed it says "Must be upgraded with Windows system" so thats kinda a bummer for me and every Mac user...

@@jasonhalaykophotography The issue for me is that they shipped a lens that needed to be upgraded to actually work on a Nikon.

@ mine worked straight out of the box with no issues on my Zf and Z9 so not sure why there would be a problem.

@ Mine did not on my Z6iii, Z9, Z5 and Zfc. I don’t know why would have been a problem either. It’s a factory/quality control issue.

Hey Jason! Did you enjoy this or 7Artisans 85mm more?

@@AlChered hard to say. I enjoyed both shoots a lot, and neither lens was a burden to getting the photos I wanted at all. Technically they were both fine, but as I say in this video, the 75mm feels a tad soft, but not so much that it’s any kind of problem.
