Interesting method of destroying the oil rigs, considering that in the real OP Praying Mantis the US ships weren't as ruthless as you were: they got into gun range, ordered everyone on the oil rigs to leave in x amount of time (one instance agreed to give more time), started shelling the oil rigs (and in some cases used helos w/ marines/seal teams to plant explosives on them).
Utterly awesome episode Darth Vegan, hell yeah it's awesome to see a great nuclear powered aircraft carrier make an appearance and talk about utter awesomeness when the legendary F14A Tomcat comes out to play, that was a sight.. true Top Gun in the making. So.. looks like our Iranian enemies are getting more determined in their stand, and more serious in their opposition against us, so serious it warrants the top of the class to come out. Losing that beautiful F14 is proof enough we're not facing terrorists or ill disciplined people, that's proof that we are up against talented fighters. Maybe we should call for Maverick in future operations, his RIO "Merlin" ( following the events of the original movie ) will be eager to tango I'm sure. The iconic F4 Phantom, never underestimate that beautiful fighter, and the hands of skilled enemies, we are in for a tough war. Great job in hitting those oil platforms, that should hurt the enemy flood and proper. This was a truly fantastic episode, I think I'll consider getting this on my system myself. Fantastic episode, looking forward to the next one, keep them coming and well done mate 👏👍
@darthvegan I love both dearly, I love both that much they take up nearly all campaigns on Strike Fighters 2 that I play. You did what any good commander could do, your command choices are not bad out there, it's the fog of war.. it's cruel, it's heartless and it don't give much pity. Well done again, keep at it.. victory will be ours.. just remember that.
Thanks DV! I've been itching for this one! I prefer this series to War On The Sea, although I would like to see you revisit it at some point, perhaps the Indian Ocean theater of operations. Anyway, keep the hits coming!
The NTU Mod upgrades the Phoenix to the AGM54C variant and greatly enhances it's performance and hit ratio. The A variant seems a bit subpar in it's current form.
I mean not entirely it was meant for bigger bombers but irl the missile would be launched with no RWR warning to the enemy other than a ping bc of the track while scan feature of the F-14s radar. It would get a warning when the missile goes active but if the fighter is flying straight the missile has a good chance of hitting the target. The range advantage of these far outweighs the weight and inaccuracy.
I can tell VD is an American flag officer the way he spends taxpayers' dollars.
hahaha. Weapons are like food. It is only wasted if it isn't used.

I was trying to beat General Norman Schwarzkopf to coining the phrase, "shock and awe".
@@darthveganand your crews were likely playing "Seek And Destroy" by Metallica on their Sony Walkmans!
@731trident Heck yeah!

@@joeaustin4472 Thanks, Joe. I hated losing that Tomcat. But the F4 should never be underestimated. Both are beautiful planes.

Oh great, thanks for the tip
i noticed you dont turn on f14 radar or go wep free??
I waited too long to go weapons free. I did turn on their radar, though.
Does right click the laser designator then the bombs , or is it automatic in the attack birds?
I'm not 100% sure since we were firing harpoons in this case. I'll have to test it out with bombs and see how it works.
@darthvegan i just clicked on a target, the a6 just dropped a spread of 12 bombs.
Thanks, subscribed. Think we may need to click on laser, then bombs, choose a salvo number
Awesome, thanks for the info!
How do you get stationary planes on deck of carrier?
It wasn't anything I did. Perhaps the mission creator did it?
It’s the base game carrier they are models they don’t work
Ah, I see
Phoenix missiles are a waste of time for fighters, that's why they carry sidewinders and sparrows. Real aviators know this.
Ok
