I came back from Vietnam 1971, then went to Ft Knox and got out in 72. That is when I got to meet a lot of the characters that dominated the lot. The Wall, The Bench, The Shack and The Parties. Seemed like it all petered out in the late 70's.
The coolest story I ever heard was when the Hell's Angels showed up at Wind-n-Sea looking for a Rumble. The biggest Mac Meda representative ran up and unmercifully BIT a Chunk out of a Bike Seat and Spat. "Git chir motor Running" was all that was said. Bye Bye...
The crap my uncles did back them in La Jolla you’d get put away along time for. My grandfather opened his store on the corner of Pearl and Girard back in 1947 .
From what I know about rehab, AA could have extended some of their lives. But then that would have been a buzz kill. Hard to walk away from liquid courage.

A great summer. Many big south swells and lots of good psychedelics around made in Laguna. But things were starting to go downhill.

The cops in those days were a real pain in the ass. By the mid 70s I had enough and left the area. And I was born and raised there.
