I don't understand why people are complaining about Deepika's accent. She is an Indian, whose accent is he supposed to have? She is an actress, therefore judge on her craft which is acting. And just because you don't like her acting, it doesn't make her a bad actress. She does deserve respect for the hardwork she puts into her craft. Different flavours for different folks, you don't like her work, don't watch,no need to be disrespectful. Just my opion!!!

Deepika nailed it at 4:35 she is absolutely true inequality among genders is present almost all of the places in the world and Hollywood is no better. The interviewer made it sound like India is the worst at it but Deepika tackled the question perfectly.
Lot of Indians want her to fake her accent or change it ,if it is British or American accent, they get wowed. When somebody has Punjabi ,Guajarati or south Indian accent,they feel disgusted and forget that it is their own country's regional accent .She is able to communicate properly, what she feels and after achieving so much success ,she is not trying to be someone else .She is just being herself, which is commendable.

@ Aartee Parboteeah: Not really. Hair loose is a post 80s urban Indian phenomenon- especially North/Central India. South Indians are still quite comfy with top knots and plaits as an everyday style. Just mean to say there's nothing that can be generalized an "Indian" hairstyle, especially not leaving hair loose which used to be considered wanton traditionally/ historically. That said, Deepika looks gorgeous here and she looks great with her hair any which way.

I love this interview because it wasn't just about fashion or films, but also about other ways in which Deepika has impacted the world and India, especially in connection with mental illness. I will forever be grateful to Deepika for speaking up and lending a voice to depressed people because I was in a very bad place around that time, and she inspired me so much. I went to a therapist and learnt to take better care of myself. I am much happier now, all thanks to Deepika.

This interviewer was a little rude/ignorant about comments of Indian women, India is ahead of some other countries(the middle east, other Asian countries, etc.) loved her classy response. surbhi gautam there's a difference. Deepika can at least speak English. Katrina can't speak Hindi despite being in the country for 12+ years. It's not even about dialect or accent.
Akash Kumar lol.. See, I was talking about people like you! Can't you appreciate her efforts that She understands it very well and can speak too , but is more comfortable in English .. And FYI hindi is not as famously spoken everywhere in the world as English, which people start learning in schools as a subject.! It's like DP learning French, obviously she'll be more comfortable in hindi or English anywhere..and obviously she won't get the accent right.. common sense..!
Accents and the ability to speak a language are two different things. If Katrina could at least fluently speak Hindi even with a westernised accent that would not be a problem. But she can't despite having been in an industry for over a decade yet can't even speak the official language of it. Whereas Deepika can speak English, hell I'm not even Indian but still perfectly understand what she's saying. Everyone has an accent and accents shouldn't be used as an excuse for not understanding someone that can fluently speak a language.
Nadia Sultana please read my above comment as your reply.. I never said I don't understand her, neither did I say it's wrong.. And for fluency, katrina has spoken in hindi many times, you can search yourself(hindi interviews by katrina.. There's a whole 40mn interview in which she is fluently replying in hindi for a movie promotion ). So get your facts right before saying she doesn't know how to speak.. . And why she doesn't use it often is probably coz she's more comfortable in English.. Her life .. And nowadays even half the Indian celeb interviews in India are in English only, so if she is also using the same language it Shouldn't be a problem, and she shouldn't be asked to use hindi while others indians themselves are not.
