There is no indian accent ... There are 100s of language spoken in india ... Creating 100s of accent .... And also older generation used to learn English as there 2nd language .. which has changed now so slowly regional accent what you might call in fading in india ...

It's pretty clear that she still has an Indian accent, but maybe it's not as thick as most Indians. I don't know what the big deal is. I've heard her conduct interviews in English in India and she sounds the same. A lot of it has to do with education, your surroundings, movies, music, influences, etc etc. My knock on Priyanka is that she's a little too overconfident or conceited, and that won't come across well in interviews. Whereas Deepika is more shy and reserved, especially when she's abroad. All this is new to her in terms of it being in Hollywood as opposed to Bollywood.
there is literally also the fact PRIYANKA WAS MISS WORLD and those girls in international beauty pageants are literally coached in their speech and that's why they all sound similar, especially when they win because they have dialect coaching to be as close to the Queen's English as possible. Priyanka sounds similar to how Aishwarya and Sushmita sound, especially when they were younger. It's ridiculously stupid to be so hateful and so full of internalized racism that you take it out on a girl that's doing more in this world than you can ever accomplish as a keyboard warrior.

Lol yeah a lot of Indians/Pakistanis/South Asians tend to look really similar to Mexicans/South Americans/Middle Easterners so sometimes it's hard to really pinpoint what their ethnicity is.
Deepika looks very much like a gracile South Indian ..India is diverse as f there is not one Indian ethnicity ...most north West Indians look like Persian types Because it's on the pathway to Western Asia they do NOT look Mexican at all Mexicans unless they are fully castizo tend to look like East Asians /native Americans the Mexican looking Indians are the ones in the north east ....yes many Indians have ambiguous looks but the fact that people don't think deepika is Indian says it all and shows that people are just not exposed enough to India and it's peoples deepika looks more 'Indian ' than many others ...she has a very Indid look about her definitely compared to himachali /Kashmiri types that tend to look the same as afghans ,Iranians and other central Asian types ..if you don't think deepika looks Indian head to himachal where all the 'white ' Indians live
Flower S Just a few days ago there was a comment from a guy claiming the only reason Hollywood is using Deepika is because she's so 'stereotypically Indian' looking. I had to break it to him that despite being such a diverse country in reality, to most people outside of the subcontinent, anyone who doesn't look like Mindy Kaling "doesn't look Indian" to them.
So true ..I've seen people say they don't think priyanka chopra or even lily Singh looks Indian wth which is crazy because they are so much more indid looking than so many other 'Indians'. India is one of the most diverse regions on earth when it comes to looks ..there are parts of India especially the mountainous regions where people can look south East European ..it's so mixed shame people in other countries don't have much knowledge or exposure of indias diversity
I've seen people say that too, also about Frieda Pinto. I mean yes, there are Indians out there who truly don't 'look Indian,' (I know plenty of people in real life, but the closest celebrity example I can think of that falls into this category Neil Nitin Mukesh despite his nose being 'very Indian',) but I fail to see how any of the aforementioned people can be constituted as such unless you have a very, very narrow view of what Indians look like.

cut her some slack. I'm a huge Deepika fan (American married to an Indian) It wouldn't have mattered if she was from India or America, this is the kind of talk show that James runs. It's light hearted and he likes to get involved with the guests, especially if they have some background in dancing and singing. She adapted just like the rest of the actors that he has on the show! Deepika as we know, is an International superstar. I trust she and her management have prepared well. Her job is not to show up at every interview giving a history lesson on Indian Culture. She gave the context in which this made up dance came about, so no one mistook it as something authentic. As I said it's the type of thing we see him do with all his guests. She did great!
