Wonderful tutorial! Not only do you teach us how to make the support, but you've given us other tips on improving our star-building. Thank you so much!

I have been playing around with a few different ways of adding the spine and have come up with a bit of a simpler method. Would you be open to me doing a video on it on my channel? I would only show the connection method and direct people here to your channel to see the full tutorial, and of course give full credit to you. If not, I will fully respect that, but would love to then just send you a private video to show you what I mean. I got so excited when I saw your brilliant method!

Hi @Mahikan, thank you for your message. Please do not do a video on your channel. I would, however, like to see your method. So could you please send me a private video so that I can see what you have done? Please send the video to: crystalstargems@hotmail.co.uk.
I look forward to seeing your method.
      Best Wishes

Thank you, thank you, thank you! I just finished two little stars today and want to make larger ones that match… mother/daughter gifts, you know? While working on them I was wondering if I could insert a large bead in the center for support. (Par Puca has some wooden ones I was considering). This is so much easier! Thank you, thank you thank you!

You're very welcome Laura, I am glad you found the tutorial so useful. The first star you make this way might be tricky but after that you can create your own supports for any size of star. Do be aware that if you are making a very large star you might need a long needle to make the pass through the centre :)

@@CrystalStarGems thanks for the extra information. I’ve made wire armatures for the interior of large stars before but, shoo-whee, that is complicated and fussy! I thought of the needle length and am thinking maybe a steel crochet hook might work if I can keep the needle from going sideways. Hemostats? Who knows. Tools will be easier than those wire armatures.

@@Lauradicus If you Google 'Big Eye needles' you will find really long needles that will pass through the centre of the star but you might need to thread on to a normal beading needle to pass through your beads. I hope this is helpful. :)

I love the support system. I've made a number of stars without and can't wait to try with. Question is is there a sort of formula that gives you an idea about how long your tube needs to be? Like, if the star has, x # of beads along one side, start with y # of beads for the tube, or do you just wait until you have one point of the star done to eye ball and work up?

Hi Robin, thank you very much for your compliment and it makes me happy that you might be excited to try it. I do not have a particular formula for each individual star size. The reason for that is that I can choose to make the star as thin or as fat as I like, simply by adjusting the number of beads that are picked up. Sometimes I pick up an odd number and sometimes an even number. I chose to show an even count in this video, simply because it is much easier for the less experienced beader to understand.

I was going back through some of my beading star patterns and realized I have the glass snowflake star pattern that I bought on Etsy, Are you the creator of it? I came across the video and thought I’d take a look. Wow!
