For my Turkey gun, i bought the Holosun 510C Green Dot and have been impressed with its performance and visibility in preseason patterning and shooting.
I started with a Firefield reflex. DO NOT waste your money. It would not hold zero with turkey loads. Maybe OK on a .22, not a 12ga. Now, I'm using a TruGlo Gobble Stopper. I like the reflex sight better, but it will be awhile before I can afford the Holosun. Thanks for the review.
Burris FF3 is a great sight. I have no issues with mine. 5000 hr battery thats 208 days straight. Thats enough battery time for a turkey hunter for at least 3-4 years.
Most products are regional. Im in Mississippi most of us have never heard of a holosun until BCO. We don't have issues with the Burris FF3. If one likes a certain product just say so. No need to bash another brand.
I’m not bashing, I’m speaking from experience i bought a FF3 to test and it still sits in the box it came in.. It came in with stripped screws/mounting hardware etc so I couldn’t even mount the optic to try and test it regardless This was last spring, no luck with customer service but I’ll just get the screws myself from work and get it mounted for testing, but not a good first impression and with the limited features I’m not sure it will overwhelm that Hopefully I’m wrong!
I’ve noticed that some of your red dots are mounted on a picatinny rail and some are mounted on the vent rib. Which do you prefer and why? Thank you for the great videos

I guess I watched this video a little too late. I just got my Vortex Venom 3MOA today. I picked it up used (like new in original box with all the accessories) for $190 on EBay. Been watching tons of the BCO vidoes and although I own two 12 guage 3 1/2” turkey guns. I just had to get the Stefan’s 301 20 gauge. Got the gun Saturday and 3 boxes of Apex number 9’s yesterday. Just need to get out and pattern it! I went with Vortex because of their warranty, but if I had watched this video first I would’ve probably went with the Holosun 507 C like you have
I got a fastfire 3 last year halfway into season because my bushnell trs 25 fogged up and they wouldn't replace it. With only a few weeks using the burris so far I love it. I like the simplicity of one button and 3 brightness modes with the first being auto. I also like that it turns off I think after 12 hours. When I get out of the truck I only press the button one time and it's good to go. I turn it back off when I get to the truck but if I forget no big deal. I did drop it once in the woods dead on the top of it. Didn't hurt it just covered it in dirt. I'll see how well it holds up the next few seasons. I liked the bushnell until it messed up. One good thing is burris is supposed to have a no bs warranty

They didn't have any and the guy told me they had the burris and it was on sale. My first question was what is the warranty on those lol. I think if mine had the issue yours did my store would have just swapped me out with another one

Yes that’s the best price I’ve seen yet and I think what I’m gonna do is order the 507c like yours because I already installed a picatinny rail so I see where you can use a Warne red dot riser for the 507c green ,because I really like that one better than the 507k

Hey thinking of getting a mossberg 500 410, it would come with a holding 407k red dot, was wondering if u knew of that holosun had a on and off, or if it was shake and wake, or if all the holosuns were the same and some r buttons and other shake n wake, A follow up question to that, the 20g and the 410 r the same price, is it stupid of me not to get the 20 because it has more bb’s and is better? Or is 410 still perfect, I’d save money on ammo with the 410 overtime especially with zero-in the pattern, with the 20g I’d spend like 100$ just to patten it with tss I feel, 410 would be cheaper, but the guns r the same price and I know 20 has another 200 pellots than the 410 #9 tss

Heard lots of good things about holosun and it was a contender for me just decided to run a Burris fast fire 3 on a sumtoy mount on a Remington 870 dipped in OG breakup 🤌🤌. As always great video and looking forward to the footage afield 🇺🇸
Have you used the 508T-X2? I have one on my Benelli m2 with the Meadow Creek mount. I shot a few 12g Long Beard XRs shells to get it zeroed and it's fantastic. I assume it's close to the 507 but I like the titanium housing, flat solar panel top, and blacked out branding.
Great video. Agree the fast fire is over rated. Got one on a 20 gauge Tristar I have a couple AT 3 that I like but when your addicted to setting up turkey guns they fit the budget. It might be time to find a gun that’s the go to and put a holosun on it. I do worry about all the stuff you talked about happening. If Stevens made the 301 in 28 gauge that might be it
I used just plain fiber optic sights for many years, but now my eyes just aren't what they used to be. Last year was my first year hunting with a red dot. I chose the Bushnell TRS-25 and had very good luck with it. My son uses a Primary Arms Micro dot and my wife uses another TRS-25. No problems so far but I am considering upgrading. There are way too many choices out there. What in your opinion is better? A reflex type open sight or an enclosed micro dot and why? What are your thoughts on the Holosun 510C?
I had another question for you. Why did you mount your sight on the barrel rib? Seems to me that it would be more likely to catch on something and some of the shotguns that I have, the rib doesn't seem like it would be solid enough to keep the sight stable.
Our go to is the Holosun 407c x2 gr or 507c. 2 gr (red dot version of either is solid too) like I said in the video as to why Moose does have the 510c but it’s a bit much for shotguns but its solid nonetheless
The solar panel on top does NOT charge the red dot, it reduces the battery usage or works as a back up if the battery dies.... the batteries the red dot uses are non rechargeable. The only holosun that uses the solar as main power is the scs that just came out and it doesn't use changeable batteries, it uses a internal rechargeable non removable battery.
But what's HOLOSUN's warranty like? What's their customer service like? I'm trying to decide on which optic to put on my new turkey gun and I need it to last because retirement is quickly approaching (not quickly enough). Your comments about dropping it were insightful and helpful. I already read your response about your non use of Leupold but that's one of my considerations but I'm not looking at just features. I'm looking at longevity.
That can all be found on their website I’ve never had an issue with any of the ones I’ve owned and I’ve beat the shit out of them I mean that’s what anyone is looking for when purchasing a reflex is durability & longevity which I have zero doubt on any of the holosun’s I have
I recently purchased a holosun 508t and it would not hold zero on 2 different mounts. Locktite and drying period of well over 24 hours. Shot out of a lead sled. Took days contacting holosun. I think I’ll be sticking with Burris even though I do have another holosun that’s been a tank I’ve had several Burris ff’s and I’ve never had a problem out of them

Plan on shooting next week to get it sighted in and do some pattern tests with 5 different chokes. 5 chokes!! I had to stop watching your videos because I was going broke just buying chokes.
Absolutely love that you have first hand experience with both of these. I’m literally back and forth on which to buy. Also was considering the 510c. But if you had to pick which one you could only go with what do you prefer? Do you use the multiple reticle on the 507? Or would you tell someone to just keep it basic and go with dot only 407? I’m driving myself crazy researching and how back and forth I am on them haha. Any input would be greatly appreciated. I was considering the vortex venom but everywhere I look and everything I watch they all lean towards Holosun. I just really like the vortex warranty, just don’t want to make a decision solely on that. Thanks again for the review.

How long with the green dot stay activated on the shake awake setting? If a bird hang up and you have already positioned yourself I would hate for the green dot to shut off because no movement.
Not for turkey hunting but I just picked up a Beretta A300 ultima patrol. I'm thinking about putting a Holosun 507comp on it. Any experience with that model?
I don’t personally but my FFL dealer loves them, he has them on several shotguns including a beretta 1301 it’s his go to reflex he switched from trijicon to Holosun and is who got me going with holosun’s it’s hard for me to argue against them
I assume you like the sight mounted on the rib. I think that will probably work on my Benelli M2. That looks easy instead of fooling with a rail. And why green, do you just see the green better? Thanks

Because I like it lol No I go with green because it’s brighter easier to pick up the reticle fast and a turkeys waddles and or head are red so I like that green stands out instead of how red blends in But it’s all personal preference

Testing is why my opinions changed…. Crazy how performance can make you adjust Get rid of bias and let the performance talk it will make you better initially I did like my reflex close pretty sure that video is 5-6 years old now we’ve done hundreds of tests since and having the reflex out on the rib allows me to acquire my target faster and has been more accurate than my old ways
This video is about what I use not what I don’t I like Holosun the features are far better than anything leupold has when I looked at them no doubt they make good products just not what I’m looking for

I prefer them on the meadow creek mounts, but I test reflexes so I test them on every mount you can

Once you go meadow creek mounts you’ll never go back, nothing is close to how good that works

@lobbyrobby it looks like it is the same plate profile as a rmr so it should be the exact same as the 507c itself

Sorry for all the questions. I just got the 507C in, and I have to buy a mount to mount it. So what is your opinion on mounting it on a picatinny or on the rib? @@BlueCollarOutdoorsUSA

No I go with green because it’s brighter easier to pick up the reticle fast and a turkeys waddles and or head are red so I like that green stands out instead of how red blends in
But it’s all personal preference

Get rid of bias and let the performance talk it will make you better initially I did like my reflex close pretty sure that video is 5-6 years old now we’ve done hundreds of tests since and having the reflex out on the rib allows me to acquire my target faster and has been more accurate than my old ways

@BlueCollarOutdoorsUSA indeed, I understand you want to be overly protected, and nothing is wrong. However, how many hours of usage do you think you will consume using your rifle? If you use it 12 hours a day, that is 10 years.
It’s on my shotguns and I’m always shooting I like the fact I don’t have to worry especially when I’m hunting
