I have only just become a subscriber, but I am blown away by your very practical fixes to your vans issues. I am the owner of a 2019 Autosleeper Fairford, suffering many of the very similar issues. And I have fixed many of my vans issues, following your great work. Hats off to you. Regards Paul.
Welcome Paul. Nice to have you on board. Thanks for subscribing and leaving a comment. I think all these vans have little issues that need sorting. Nice to put your own stamp on things and make it your own. 👍🏻
Great mod Ian and definitely one to add to the list. Took your advice and taped up the water tanks, looks really neat. Also added the sliding door handle and the fixings on the panel. Cheers, Stephen.
Very welcome Stephen. There are always lots of solutions to these little problems. I like to share my solutions and if they help anyone else to improve their own vans then it makes the videos worth while. Thanks for watching and leaving such kind comments. 👍
Nice solution - similar issue with the seated belt unit on my Bailey Autograph - mine's got another cushion under that one but sure I can work something out.
Great idea with the wing nuts, allows you to remove easily without tools 👍😁 Agree on the safety aspect from factory, for passengers - that didn’t look safe and imagine with a child seat attached… We didn’t spot this when considering the CV40, sure many owners will benefit from this mod, you should sell diy kits - great job 😁
Thanks Iain. It benefits me definitely and you're right about the child seat...I first realised the problem when my grandson was there in the child seat. It's really not safe. Hope it helps a few people out. Sharing ideas is what it's all about eh. Thanks for taking the time to watch and leave a comment. You're a good un. 👍
Hi Ian, great video as always and a brilliant solution to a real safety issue. I have put velcro under cushion as a temp fix but your more permanent resolution is added to my list. Have i missed your video on fitting the pull handle on the inside of the sliding door, great addition. Our van is back at TVMH trying to sort out the annoying alarm that keeps going off in middle of the night, grrrr. I have asked them to look at putting a handle on the door but not sure they will so would love to know how you fitted your handle. Thanks. Malc.
Hi Malc. The handle on the inside of the sliding door is fitted using two self drilling screws. The handle was from eBay and cost about a fiver. I can take mine off and record a quick video putting it back on you like but there really is nothing to it. Just keep the handle at the height that is right for you and keep it as close to the edge of the door as you can do it goes through the metal and not just the plastic trim. I have a problem with my auto watch alarm too. Just waiting for tvmh to get the part in. 👍🏻
@@Wizardinthewild I thought about the anti slip rubber matting and I tried velcro but this is a more suitable solution for me. Like I say in the video....it's going nowhere now! We both know Graham that it won't be for everyone but I just like to share what I'm doing because I enjoy making the videos. Haven't had any negative feedback yet so I assume people are happy. I am....and that's what counts. 😁👍 Hope you and Ellie are both well. 😘
@@TravellingfromScratch I must admit we haven’t noticed ours slipping forward and we don’t seem to knock into it. But as you may have seen our dogs are on the seat for travelling so I think I will do the mod as you have done. Nice and secure. As you say it isn’t going anywhere. 🙏🧙♂️ All the best to you guys
Ian it looks like your seat base doesn’t have any press studs to attach it to the vertical bulkhead. They are not great mind and your solution is much safer.
It doesn't have press studs but I wouldn't trust them anyway to be honest. Once you have the weight of someone sitting on the seat, the forward momentum when braking is enough to make the seat slide forward. Not very safe in my opinion and something that I think Elddis should consider looking at. My solution may not be the best and I am not a safety expert and don't claim to be but I just wanted peace of mind and I have got that now. The safety of my passengers is my responsibility. Thanks for watching and leaving a comment. Very much appreciated! 👍
Hello hope you ok. Just subscribed and enjoying the camper tips, Now your seat alteration,am I missing something why can’t you hing the seat from the front, That way you wouldn’t have to fiddle unbolting your fixings, just remove the back and fold the seat forward . Best of luck Terry elvin
Hi Jenny. Thanks for the subscription. Pleased you're enjoying the videos. Putting a hinge on the front of the seat was my original idea after seeing how the seats were fixed in an Auto trail camper. Unfortunately the lift up flap under the seat is hinged from the other side so it would have been a right carry on lifting the seat up. I agree it would have been a better idea but I just had to do what I had to do to fix it down in the easiest way possible. It's fixed firm so I pleased with it but would have had the same question. Should have explained that in the video really. 👍
Hi as to your seat issue it looks like they gave forgot to fix the Velcro onto the base of the seat and the back of the cushion of the seat part should be attached by two long extra strong Velcro strips that hold the seat in place would have saved you drilling or using bolts , the Velcro is what holds most van seats and cushions down .
Hi Jim. Thanks for watching and leaving comment. There does seem to be some velcro missing. The back of the seat has some velcro on it but nothing to stick it to. I will be discussing it with the dealer when I go in for warranty repairs on Dec 16th. 👍
Hi Rhys and thanks for the question. I did try a bit of non slip mat and although it gripped the wood when the seat slid forward it curled the rubber mat up. Not every time, but at least 50% of the time. I wanted something more permanent. I know it's not to everyone taste and drilling holes is always a bit drastic but I had just cut a great big hole in the floor so I thought a couple of bolt holes wouldn't hurt. 😁👍
Hi Ian thanks for posting this, a great solution for a bad design fault by Elddis. Do the bolts have to be removed when you make the seat into a bed? Dave
Hi Dave, thanks for leaving a comment and thanks for the question. The bolts don't have to be removed when making the single bed up. I guess the only time you would need to remove the bolts is if you wanted to gain access to the hatch underneath. 👍
Thanks Ruth. I wish that was all my jobs done but I have plans! Keep watching. More mods coming soon. I only do modifications that are gonna be useful. I know what I want...I just have to research how to do it first. 😁👍
Thanks Kenneth. Really was a safety hazard. An accident waiting to happen. I feel more comfortable carrying passengers now. Thanks for leaving a comment. I appreciate it. 👍

Fantastic job simple but very successful fix
Thanks Stephen. I'm well pleased with it. Just got sick of it moving around all the time.

@@TravellingfromScratch Thanks Ian that's great. If tvmh do not fit it then I will give it a go, seems straightforward.
Nice solution, well done
Thank you. It's the little things that make all the difference in these vans. Should have done something like that in the factory. 👍
Great idea. Looks like it works equally as well without actually putting the wing nuts back on the coach bolts
Thanks. It does work without the wing nuts too. 👍🏻
Nice solution Ian. May well do that in ours 👍😊🧙♂️
I just got fed up with it moving around. It’s great now. 👍🏻
@@TravellingfromScratch looks great. We currently use plastic anti slip matting under ours. Works ok but not quite as rigid as your mod

I agree. Velcro much easier g sufficient grip. But well done for creativity!
Would a non slip mat placed between the seat and base work not a fan of drilling holes .
