Great video Lou. As a single op i just cant afford to spend my advertising money on fake leads. For me this the part of my business I struggle the most. My referrals make up 80% of my business and the way I treat my clients. Ad vertizing is just hit or miss for me.

Yeah it’s just almost never a good proposition for us. It’s funny as the video published I got a new wave of TKWW sales pushes. I’m talking to one today to see what the latest price hikes are. And I’ll tell them straight out the only way I accept some ad buy is with a big discount, if X% of my leads are real, and if I’m not satisfied in say 90 days I get an out. Of course the answer will be no, but can’t say I didn’t to my due diligence.

Appreciate the insight. No way would I, as a single op, consider this anyway. But wanted to hear your perspective

Even with multiops you have to be pulling in some serious coin to make it worth while.

Hey DJ Lou! Thanks for this video. I’m a single op as well, in sunny California. I have been with the Knot & Wedding Wire for many years now and this will be it for the last of 2023. I pay a little less than $300 a month and most of the referrals are dates I’m already booked on, bogus (about 9 a year), and lookie loos who reach out, but never respond back. This last year 2023, I think I booked maybe 8 referrals from them. I use to look at how many I booked vs what I was paying, but that went out the window long ago.
I too am having the same problem you are having with defining my working area. I get referrals from them that are over 2-3 hours away from me. I try to book events no more than an hour from home.
Curious, besides referrals from vendors and venues, how are you thinking of marketing your business?
Thanks again for the video and information.

I’m glad you found some value in my videos. I will do some occasional PPC hyper targeted ads in my market. But by far my best sources is word of mouth. Venues, photographers, videographers, even other DJs. They make up well over 80% of my total lead sources.
While PPC and maybe some select IG ads can help I’d really focus on the networks you have the most immediate influence in.

Same here! My wife is a planner, but when she gets to me, I’m usually already booked up. I have a few other coordinators and venues who refer me as well and repeat clients. I guess having a somewhat solid lead out there like the Knot & WW was giving me piece of mind….but not anymore. lol.
