- These Grits are super creamy, and cheesy! And using the 5 minute version of them is the way to go. I have tested both the long cooking and the 5 minute, and there is no difference in taste that I can detect.
Feel free to switch up the cheese if you like, or add in some finiely diced ham, green onion, or sun dried tomato!
These are so yummy for breakfast or dinner!
Ingredients:
1 1/2 C whole milk
1 1/4 C chicken broth
3/4 C 5 minute Grits
1/2 t onion powder
1/2 t garlic powder
1/4 t smoked paprika OR 1/2 t regular paprika
1/4 t pepper
3 T unsalted butter
1 C Shredded Cheddar Cheese (preferably freshly shredded)

I guess the universe is telling me to make cheesy grits as this is the 2nd video this week on how to make it!😄 And I do love grits, Karen!😋😋😋
Hey Kevin!! OH thats funny!! Yes its definitely telling you to make some!! I just love replacing the typical water with chicken broth because it amps up the flavor and of course the cheese is a necessity for me!! I had some left over and the next day I cut them in squares and fried them in some butter OMG so good!
Good job ❤💯

Mr. Editor had never heard of grits before! They're not a thing over here! I like grits! Looks fantastic, Karen! 💖😻
Oh wow! Yes that’s totally understandable! Well they are definitely similar to polenta. I just love how creamy and cheesy they are🥰. Thanks for watching Dani ❤️
Never really got into grits (had to make it a lot in the Navy), but what you did here does look very nice,...and cheesy!
Hey Paulie!! OH that must of been quite the experience making a HUGE batch of them. It can be dangerous when they start bubbling up! Adding the cheese and chicken stock really ups their flavor! Thank you for watching my friend!
I love cheese grits. Sometimes I will make it twice as thick, spread it out on a tray and freeze it. Then cut it into bars and deep fry them 🥂🥂🍸🍸
Thanks for watching Peter!!! I do that too!! I actually put the extra in a little shallow pan. The next day I cut it into rounds and fried them in butter.
Yum! I made cheesy grits in the slow cooker! This looks easy
Hey Sherry! Thank you for watching! OMG I never thought to make them in the crockpot!! I am so gonna try that! These are the quick cooking variety so it took less than 10 min.
@@IntheKitchenwithKaren mine was slow cooking and I haven’t been able to find any recipe that uses regular . If you see any send some my way

Good Afternoon ! I will be honest . I have tried grits a couple of times . Even once in the South . I didn’t care for them , but these have cheddar cheese in them . I think , I might like these better . Bonus : It just takes 5 mins to make 😋
Thank you for watching Tracy! I have grits in the south as well, and a lot of times they don't season them enough. Using chicken broth and cheese really elevates the flavor!
The Cheesy Grits look sooooo good!
Oh they were so creamy and cheesy! Thanks for watching Mary!

Good morning Karen; I’ve never had grits but this recipe makes me want to try them. Being from the Midwest there’s grits on every breakfast menu. Thanks for sharing my friend. Hope you’re doing well and had a great weekend.
Thank you so much for watching Laura! OH they are one of those comfort food dishes! Very creamy and cheesey! And with the quick cooking kind they are ready in less than 10 minutes! I love mine with eggs in the morning!
Easy Peasy Cheesy 🧀
Hehehe right?? They were super creamy and cheesy. Total comfort food🥰. Thanks for watching Chappy!!
Looks yummy😋
Thank you so much for watching! OH they really are creamy and cheesy!
I like grits if flavored like this recipe you are demonstrating. I am sure that everybody will agree that regular grits with nothing added are too bland. Grits have long been staple breakfast fare in the South but have recently caught the nation's attention by storm. Quaker Oats company has come out with different varieties, and I'm noticing that grits are following the expansion idea similar to Mac and cheese.
Karen, I also wanted to take this opportunity to comment again about the wonderful banana fertilizer you offered your viewers. I can vouch that not only is it good for indoor plants but outdoor as well. I used some on my African violets, and in no time I got blooms! I also poured some over my outdoor azaleas and they sprang into action, looking alive. They were so droopy before this treatment, but not now, thanks to this special and so easy to prepare secret formula! It's a hit. I definitely will continue doing this. Why buy expensive fertilizer when it's just as effective and cheaper doing it this way? Thanks!!,
Hey Kathleen!! OMG I am so happy your plants are loving the banana water!! My plants are thriving on it as well!! And yes way cheaper than fertilizer. I don't like plain grits. No flavor to me. But cooking them with both milk and chicken broth really amps up their flavor! Plus the cheese is so good in them too!! I wish more people here in California ate them!
These grits sure look good. 👍🏻❤️
Hey Arielle!! Thanks so much for watching my Friend!! Oh they were so creamy and cheesy! I’m sure you would love them 🥰. Hope you had a great weekend
Still trying to find a good plate of shrimp & grits here in Seattle. It's a tough task!

Thanks for watching James!!! Wow you would think with all the great places it wouldn’t be difficult! Well these are fast to make if you want to make your own!!
thanks for making my mouth water, Karen! haha, delish!!
Thanks for watching Molly! Oh these are so yummy! Very cheesy!
QUESTION
You cooked on low, uncovered for 5 minutes
Then cooked covered for 3 minutes, correct?
Yes. thats right. It says 5 minutes total on the box, but to get them really creamy you need an extra few minutes!
Have you ever tried smoked Gouda in your grits?
Thank you for watching my Friend! NO! But that sounds like it would so good! Im gong to try that soon!!
