I recall a concert in 1970 with Arroyo/Tucker where he sang the high C at the end of the Ballo duet, he also did that with Nilsson and Cruiz Romo and others live, including Tebaldi and Zeani in Lescaut , Ross and Nilsson live (as Calaf) and alone in Feb. 1966 in Aida, a Met. brdcst, where he sang a interpolated high C for 5 seconds alone and above the others at the very end of the triumphal scene, the house went wild and I have the tape of it. No he was not a high C tenor, but had the C, Even at age 60 in 1974, in NY, in Turandot live and complete with Ross, I heard it, he died 6 mos. later.

@@sugarbist OK I wondered as I've heard him sing high C's on occasion live and even alone and exposed, as that comment went below, also on two recordings, both Ballo in the duet with Farrell in the mid 1960's and also in 1961 at age 48 in Boheme (Che Gelida aria) ) on the RCA with Moffo and Merrill. alone in Aida a Met. brdcst. interpolated 1966, at the end of the triumphal scene, alone and above the others , a "5 second high C" and also live with Arroyo, Cruiz Romo, Nilsson, Tebaldi, Ross, Zeani and Caballe-- but he wasn't a high C tenor, also many high C tenors like even Bjoerling did transpose down live (in his late 30's and 40's) On Occasion, in Boheme and also in concerts on occasion, and so did Pav. --- but later. Domingo never had a good high C and usually skipped it, so what? he still was a super star, most people do not know it if a singer in house sings a B-- not a C , they are not aware and seated with a tuning fork, I say most, not all.

Sorry to the commenter below, but this is transposed, at "gia mi mandi via". Tucker did not do exposed high C's.

He did sing high C's in live opera several times, and also alone in Feb. 1966, a Met opera Brdcst. yes, alone at the ending of the Triumphal scene an exposed interpolated high high C for 5 seconds, the hosue went nuts with cheers-- in Ballo in 1963 with Nilsson in the duet, in 1973 with Cruiz Romo in the duet, also with Caballe in the role -in 1959 in Lescaut with Tebaldi in the last act of the Met. Brdcst. and in Turandot with Nilsson live in 1961 and also in 1968 with Ross in Philly, and in 1974 at age 60 in Brooklyn also in a complete live Turandot, with Ross - with Farrell in Ballo and alone in Che Gelda , the studio RCA from the complete in 1961 and in a 1969 Lescaut with Zenani in Italy --he wasn't a high C tenor, true but had the C when needed and I saw and heard it in house myself. Like him or not a great tenor who did have high C and that can be heard live on you tube

the High C in Aida was Feb. 1966 Met. Brdcst a high C that was interpolated for five seconds alone and above the chorus and Soprano Price as they did not sing up. The cast was Price, Merrill and Tucker.
